- geoken, on 10/10/2007, -1/+94Wait, are you actually saying that you weren't expecting to be dissapointed by EA.
- terminalpariah, on 10/10/2007, -0/+44They're not native titles, they just have Cider integrated into the binaries. IMO if you want Mac gaming to really take off you should support companies who are doing native ports, such as Epic (Gears and hopefully UT3) and id.
- frsrblch, on 10/10/2007, -0/+38At least they're less disappointed than if EA actually followed through with Mac gaming...
- TheRealDeal, on 10/10/2007, -3/+38Bing was drunk.
- growlzor, on 10/10/2007, -18/+48Silly Mac users, games are for PC's
- geoken, on 10/10/2007, -5/+34timusca, welcome to the world of PC users. If I go on a forum and ask for a PC app similar to garage band, 90% of the responses would 'Just throw away your pc and buy a mac'
- michaelinnotts, on 10/10/2007, -6/+34As a Mac user and gamer, I hope that EA never releases a single title for Macintosh.
- timusca, on 10/10/2007, -10/+36Right, so I want a Mac for everything but games... so since I want a few games, I should just throw out my Mac and get a PC. Makes total sense! I couldn't POSSIBLY want the best of both worlds, could I?!
- raynar, on 10/10/2007, -4/+30A mac vs. pc commercial you'll never see:
Mac - "Whatcha doin, PC?"
PC - "I'm playing this new game."
Mac - "Oh really, which one?"
PC - "Any."
Mac - "Oh." (silence) (fade) - nomore, on 10/10/2007, -5/+26Just install windows on the Mac = best of both worlds.
- TherealObadiah, on 10/10/2007, -11/+28How can you play games on a Mac with the junky video cards Apple insists on putting in their machines!
- nuclearpenguins, on 10/10/2007, -6/+21Don't forget break out, super breakout......photoshop
- jake8689, on 10/10/2007, -14/+26enjoy you virus, windows users,
- flibblesan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12EA lied as usual. Nothing new.
- kjr07, on 10/10/2007, -2/+132600Pro?
Killer?
Does not compute. - jordanrobbins, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12You mean they are not going to make Mac users pay to beta test their buggy games, too?
- Brutusfly, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13The jokes are funny and all, but non-Mac folks reading these comments could easily be mislead. The Mac is a nice gaming box for someone with only a few hours a week to game. I have stacks of popular Mac games from the last decade to prove it. World of Warcraft, Quake 4, Doom 3, UT2004, Halo, Call of Duty 2, Sims, Prey, Age of Empires III, Battlefield 1942, Tony Hawk...blah blah... I know, shut-up already. Bungie was once a Mac only developer for Bill's sake!
- HighPriest15, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13Yeah, all you have to do to avoid viruses is not be retarded. Failing that you have to get a Mac.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+13Then buy a goddamn two button mouse. They, GASP, work on Macs!
- Bob042, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10I'm much more interested in native Gears of War or Unreal Tournament 3 than anything EA puts out with cider.
- HA5TY, on 10/10/2007, -10/+18......I got windows on my mac!
haha - twrife, on 10/10/2007, -13/+21You don't often hear gaming as being one of the reasons why people love their Mac.
This be why. - spyrochaete, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8"Hi, I'm a PC."
"And I'm a PC." - blackfog, on 10/10/2007, -5/+12Real PC gamers migrated to the PC ages ago due to lack of availability on Macs. If Mac users want to take pride in being the elite few, they can take pride in the fact that their selection of apps and games will be just as slim as their population.
- MadKennyP, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Riiiight. And every Dell user still uses the lousy mouse that came with his Dell XPS.
- thelizardking, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Blizzard seems to be very good to us Mac fans. World of Warcraft, Diablo 2, Warcraft 3. ( http://blizzard.com/press/070519.shtml ) They say that Starcraft 2 will be native to Mac so I am quite excited.
- kjr07, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7What would be the point? The best graphics cards available for the new iMacs are 2600Pros
- orgazmo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Read the article, the games were made a long time ago, they're instead using a software that makes them run on Macs without changing one single line of code.
- xero9, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9Warcraft 3? I'm enjoying World of Warcraft on my Mac as it performs better than the PC version, IMO
- DeFex, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5viruses are good, they keep lots of retards off the internet!
mac users should DEMAND virus writers make some viruses for them. - misterjangles, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I know your question was just an example, but if you want garage band for the PC, you're in luck because the software that originated this concept of composing with loops was built for PC http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/products/acidfamily.asp
The funny think is that I actually know the original inventor of ACID, who wrote early versions of if for the Amiga. He then sold the idea to Sonic Foundry here in Madisson, WI. The best part of the story is that now he works for... wait for it... Apple! He works on SoundTrack Pro. - DeFex, on 10/10/2007, -4/+9why do apple fans always bash windows, and then say "i can run windows on my mac" whenever games are mentioned. hypocrites.
- mikedoth, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Just like Linux there aren't any main stream titles being produced as it's not cost advantageous... supposedly.
- miriv365, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7plug in any standard mouse...those work
- neodorian, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Hah, only idiots get viruses. I've done the barest of minimum regarding antivirus (AVG Free) and I've never gotten a single one. Even the once or twice I was dumb enough to download one via p2p, the second the download completed, AVG said "look bitch! It's a virus!" and I deleted it before I had a chance to run it. That was years ago anyway. Buying a mac to avoid viruses would be like buying a car that cost twice as much so you don't have to learn stick.
- HigherLogic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4What are we in 1998 or something? Seriously. My PC isn't crashing every 5 minutes, I can't remember the last time I saw a BSOD, and I've never had a virus.
- uberlord, on 10/10/2007, -4/+8Exactly, I have a $650 laptop I'm typing on right now. To get the exact same amount of memory, exact same processor(core 2), and exact same HDD (speed, size, cache), I'd be paying about $1,800. It's just ridiculous, I mean, besides looks, I see no advantage to it.
Provided, this laptop was an amazing deal, that's still a HUGE difference in cost - spyrochaete, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4WoW minimum system requirements from http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/faq/technology.html
Windows® System 2000/XP OS:
* Intel Pentium® III 800 MHz or AMD Athlon 800 MHz
Mac® OS X 10.3.9:
* 933 MHz or higher G4, or G5, or Intel processor
Not that this proves anything. WoW is designed for low-performing computers. - nihility, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Exactly, this should be welcome news to Mac users. You probably do want to get your hands on Spore if that ever gets released though.
- tashpool, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Enough with the bashing. People on Macs want to play games and EA came out and said they were going to release a number of games in July. No word yet from EA or anyone else for that matter, so now it's time to wonder what the heck happened.
And no, you PC lovers, just because a game is coming to Mac doesn't mean it's not going to come out for the PC.
No, I didn't buy my Mac thinking I was going to get all the games that PC gamers get.
Yes I know Macs are not as easy to upgrade.
Yes I bought a better looking, much quieter, and more secure OS computer; can we get back to question of where are the games now? - cfulp, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5OSX, when buying a mac, is extremely cheap. And since I already had Vista, why not bootcamp it up? But, considering i'm always on a quest for the all in one operating system, I wouldn't mind more games coming to a Mac. Then I'd only have to use the Vista partition for work related issues.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7Don't be stupid. We all know that apart from the TPM chip every mac is a PC! It just makes for an easy way to differentiate between the 2 platforms without having to be too long winded about it!
- Ramble, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4They don't.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4So true. Don't download screensavers, or open email attachments from people you don't know.
99% of all viruses blocked. More effective then a condom is. - jonnyeh, on 10/10/2007, -4/+8Or use the standard Mighty Mouse that comes with every mac.
- incabulos, on 10/10/2007, -4/+8Actually, Microsoft is killing gaming on the PC. With the release of Vista and the newer and crappier (in the sense of performance) DirectX, it's never been a crappier time to develop PC games. While on the other hand, it's never been a better time to develop for gaming consoles. MS has fingers in both pots, and I think Vista is a clear indication as to which pot is sweeter: console video games with service subscriptions and feature taxes. Say good-bye to the PC games... they were fun while they lasted.
- elvenseven, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Mac + Parrot Bingo!
- spyrochaete, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Sorry, my bad.
- flibblesan, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5WTF are you on about? Every update has been free, same as Windows. OS X 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, 10.4 are DIFFERENT VERSIONS lilke Win 98, XP, Vista etc.
