What Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak actually said

nzherald.co.nz — Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak denied some of the comments attributed to him in an article I wrote recently. He suggests that I pushed him to make some of those comments...I find Mr Wozniak's response shocking as it is a serious attack, not only on my credibility, but also on that of the press in general

    Should we cut the guy some slack or keep in mind that everything is being recorded better than the mind can recall? I'm impressed the journalist stuck to his guns and defended his reputation so well. Maybe Big Media should do the same with quoting their own articles when it shows their rushed research and wrong conclusions. Maybe then most people would buy and read newspapers for something other than the coupons.

    Okay, that's not only way OT but stupid. You have a) no idea how the system works and b) are a moron.
    It's the Local and State's responsibility to be the first to respond. Furthermore, wtf was he supposed to do? All the money over the years given to La. to shore up those levys had been spent by greedy politicians. Fsck La. and fsck you for being an idiot. Don't breed, PLEASE!

    OTOH: Woz didn't really say "should"....but he is making a symantic distinction, maybe, and should just take it.

His allegations mislead thousands of readers to question the integrity, credibility and validity of journalist Peter Nowak, as well as the New Zealand Herald. This could have a detrimental impact upon the career of Mr. Nowak and readership of the New Zealand Herald. No apology from Steve Wozniak can renew the respect and trust many readers may have lost in this publication.

Just because he is an engineer and "not a pr guy" does not mean he cannot be forthright and honest. What Mr. Wozniak did is akin to questioning his qualifications and experience as an engineer.     Saw your comment after I posted my last one, and just wanted to say you took the words right out of my mouth. We may have this "geeks stick together" mentality, but just because some newspapers and/or tv outlets like to run the sensationalist Video Games Teach Kids to Kill articles, doesn't mean we put their voice in the back. While we shouldn't believe everything we read, I can personally tell you all that newspeople, above all else, pride themselves on integrity and honesty, because it is SO ***** EASY to hang them out to dry.

    I'm just glad the Zealand paper responded to this. Most papers wouldn't have bothered, but I think it's time for papers to start earning back their credibility, one yahoo at a time.

    No, I do not work for the New Zealand Herald, although I do work with several university publications. I simply indicated that respect is hard to earn and even more difficult to earn back.

    I certainly do not think it is "blowing things out of proportion". Consider this: a wealthy, well-known man attempted to tarnish the reputation of a journalist because he "forgot" or may regret some comments he may have made in an impromptu interview. Now that my friend, is blowing things out of proportion.

Everyone could take a page outta his book on how to spread YOUR own wealth to your friends n family, community and general world around you. Woz may not be all the interview savvy, but the guy is a god and when your done thanking him for the apple II thank him for much of the industry that followed. Nowak is worried bout his reputation...he is a "Journalist"--> It seems nowadays you can feed any closer to the bottom then that.

I think the reporter mis understood him, and was putting words in Woz' Mouth, also, he took excerpts of what Woz said and made his own statement out of it. I can do that too. Who cares what Woz does/doesn't do now, who cares what he did, hes making millions and your not. Its all politics you can say what ever you want, but its probably not how youll act on it.
