- fmaxwell, on 10/29/2007, -1/+7Because there are far more Windows users than Mac users. Why do you think that Apple went with USB 2.0 and not Firewire?
- OregonTrail, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Thank You! OMG I was about to buy QT Pro fer real.

You can try Cucusoft iPod Video Converter Suite to rip DVD movie and convert videos in any format to iPod. It is the fastest converter I have used. Also, the output quality is great. You can download this software free from here:

- EVELINA2, on 06/16/2009, -0/+0A good, easy-to-use, and fast iPod converter is Cucusoft iPod Video/Movie Converter.

http://seo-knowledge.blogspot.com - twi1ightlullaby, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0everything worked perfectly on episodes and music videos with this converter. But for some reason..even when I put the highest quality settings on normal full length movies to convert; when the movie plays on my iPod it looks all discolored and when it switches scenes its pixelated with different colors. Wtf! I put Ice Age and the little squirrel has a brown shadow behind him and the supposed to be green plants are this ugly murky brown color.Yuck. This program kinda sucks for regular movies..

Some useful information you can get on the official site:
http://www.itouch.com - kingsneverdie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Right, there seems to be a lot of confusion when using Videora iPod Convertor. I will try and rectify these problems for people:
1. First of all check your settings in the setup menu (create your own if you can - I will post my settings up later - works for me every time)
2. When titling your output file (ie the mp4 that your going to create) make sure that you don't use and that there are no unusable characters in the title (unusable characters - / ? * " < > | ). This because the first thing videora does is create the file name and then adds data to it, so if it can't name the file because of an unusable character the file will not be created.
NB Unfortunately Videora gives you no warning of this and just completes the file in a flash!
3. If you are converting .vob files (ie DVD-ripped files) you should have no problem, if you are trying to convert wmv's you are more likely to have errors and incorrectly converted videos. Videora is for compressing high quality videos down to a reasonable size for your iPod or PSP.
Think about this:
Videora converts a 4.35Gb DVD file into about 400Mb, that's just more than 10x smaller! It does this by reducing the amount of pixels per frame, and reducing the sound to mp3 format. It also analyses the video and extremely reduces pixels when the image appears still (ie if the image is repeated for a few seconds). It can easily shrink the data using the settings provided.
When trying to convert a 92Mb file with Videora, it will create a file of about 8Mb. The picture resolution in the original will more than likely be less than what it is trying to "shrink" the file to. So this creates a problem within the encoding, and the result will be that you get no picture and very poor sound quality.
4. If there are any questions about converting with Videora please email me at kingsneverdie@hotmail.co.uk with Videora as the subject title, as I will be able to get back to you a lot sooner.
Regards,
Chris KND - dis1gurl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0can anyone help me with this, i downloaded the videora ipod converter but i can find any instructions on how to use it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well, there's is one other slight problem. The audio is out of sync sometimes if you use videora to convert. There's a fix for it however... if you need it just go to http://ipodlegends.com/videora-audio-sync-fix/
- xzune, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Step by step guide to rip dvds and convert avi file to ipod for mac and pc users
http://www.dvd-ipod.biz/avitoipod/ - kingsneverdie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+05. DVD Shrink 3.21 is the best DVD ripping software I've come across for use with Videora, as it can rip your films/tv shows directly into one massive file for films and individual episodes for tv shows (all in *.vob format which is the best for use with Videora!).
Unfortunately for us iPod lovers, DVD Shrink has been abandoned by its creator and will therefore not receive any updates (ie new encryption codes) and so new DVDs with certain types of copy protection encryption will not be able to be ripped with DVD Shrink :( I have already come across a few DVDs that cannot be ripped by DVD Shrink, I was not best pleased! There is a way around this but i've never tried it! (email me for details)
6. With the settings I will post up later, it takes about 30 mins for a 45 min video (long time but worthwhile :) )
Chris KND - SONYEDDIE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i have videora ipod converter and wheni try to convert a file that is supposedly a (h264 dvd rip file) a window with an error comes out. also some mp4 files. oh and those files dont go straight into my video ipod either. any solutions or idead would help thanks
- trismus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ripped a DVD using DVD decrypter then DVD shrink. Tried conversion with both Cucusoft (trial version) and Videora. Cucusoft converted the movie to one large 2hr file, but Videora broke it up into four 30 minute segments. Can anyone tell me if Videora can convert to one large file or if I can combine the files in iTunes. thanks.
- ipod11, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Here's something strange....after I failed to convert my pirates of the caribbean 2 .vob file I tried Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and it worked! Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban also worked before! ?_? I am very confused by this...
- kingsneverdie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0When you rip the DVD using DVD shrink, you need to make sure that you output the content to one *.vob file. You can change this in the preferences menu, there is a check box which says "Split vob files into 1Gb chunks". You need to uncheck this box to get your one big movie file, then convert it with videora.
Chris KND - HoboLojo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0please help me with it, i used DVD decoder and have a .vob of pirates of the caribbean 2, but when i put it into videora and alter where i want the file to be sent and the name of the file, and then press start, in less than a millisecond its done and when i check the file it made and try to run it, it says it is not a video and under how many bytes it is, it says 0. please help i realy wanna be able to watch my movies on my ipod video!
- ipod11, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The same thing happened to me when I tried to convert my pirates of the caribbean 2 .vob file! i still haven't figured out how to make it work though
- podman32, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i have the same problem as headbanger...small videos seem to go onto my ipod fine but when i try and put a larger video on there over 100 mb...i will do add file to library and it will llook as if it did something and then the video does not show up..im beginning to get very frustrated...btw i have the new 80 GB ipod
- stephan121677, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Anyone know why when I try to convert my videos it takes 3 sec. then it said that it's complete and the file is only 33MB of nothing? What can I do to fix this problem? Anyone?
- stephan121677, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well I converted a 91.742 KB video, it only took 3 sec. and the finished file is now 32.3 KB and when I click on it I get Error massage: Error -2048 the file is not a movie file. What the hek is going on? Why doesn't this program work? Can anyone help me? Please? It's making me nuts.
- kingsneverdie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I use DVD Shrink to rip my DVDs to one VOB file, it also means you can cut of any unwanted credits at the end if you want to save space. Then using videora just on one-click convert it converts everything i've wanted done about 25 different films, all 5 seasons of family guy, and the 1st season of American Dad! All worked perfectly.
If you're worried about time just set a load going overnight and enable the automatic shutdown that videora offers!
Only problem is I've had a trojan virus!! Arrgh! In order to clear it and sort out my computer i had to run several different programmes, and fix my registry and all other things, but now it wont load and says it has had an application error.
tried reinstalling it, still get same error, redownloaded and reinstalled still no luck, tried a different videora programme, still got same error!
Any ideas what I can do to convert my vids now? - gma2006, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hey, how exactly do u use the dvd shrink to put it on your ipod? can u give me instructions please? Also, i've got a 80gb video ipod, and I was wanting to use videora. Also, is videora a good program, and how long exactly does it take? Will it convert all the dvds i need to convert? Thanks bunches! Bye!
- Looie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sometimes mine goes to 100% and is still converting - just leave it, and don't worry. If I was you, I'd leave it converting while you're away and have no other programs open. It will convert a lot quicker, and properly.
iTunes problems:
I think it's easier to drag your converted file into your iPod section in iTunes. - Alaerus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I'm sure there will be lots of ways to encode video to my iPod soon. I downloaded this program and I'm using it right now. The interface is pretty simple; anyone on this site should not have a problem with it. I'm glad this came out before my new iPod came in, now I can have some videos ready to go when it arrives.
- dub24, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12 Things ...
1) It has batch encoding, so transcoding multiple videos to put on an iPod isn't so bad.
2) I just used it on a family guy episode in xvid that was 21 minutes long. It took roughly 15 minutes and the final file size went from 174 to 139. This was all done at 768kbps and 128kbps. - techietown, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1that's absolutely right, it does, but does psp9 do h.264? i'm not sure...but i know this does and i love h.264 :-)
- shygrrl4evr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0hey Loaner?
i did what u said to do on ur comment.....but it didnt work...which is strange. - caesar29, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0thanks so much
- L0ve4mu51c, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0OMG! Why won't this work!!!
I have downloaded Videora and i put in the first DVD i could find, its updated and converted, but i aborted coz i really didn't like the movie...so i put 'Shrek 2' in...it took 5 hours... and at 4 and half hours it was only at 4%...i left the computer, came back half an hour later...DONE! So i put another DVD in. This time 'The Matrix Revolutions' this one, i was surprised to see, shoot through the percentages...it was at 100% in 50 minutes...BUT... it has now been going for 3 hours and it is still going... WHAT IS GOING ON!! I really need help coz i want to have all my favorite movies ready to update for when i get my iPod...HELP!!!! - mikataur, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0> but does psp9 do h.264?
Yes it does. I think it is referred to as AVC though, which I think stands for Advanced Video Codec, just like AAC stands for Advanced Audio Codec but is really an MPEG-4 codec as well (hence the .MP4 extension).
So...
H.264 / AVC / MPEG-4 Part 10
...all refer to the same thing. - mightymouse, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Way to release everything before anyone even gets their ipod...
- mikataur, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0> If you can't get movies into iMovie to start with, that doesn't help much - I just found it interesting.
There is software called "DVDxDV" which is meant to turn anything in an (unencrypted) .VOB format into DV for editing with iMovie.
Mainly useful to re-edit Revenge of the Sith, if you think the Star Wars Geek could do a better acting job than Hayden C! -
