Videora iPod Converter
videora.com — A free video converter for the 5th generation iPod's from Apple. What a great tool(so far), recently released, lots of options to convert to, and supports h.264! A must-have for soon-to-be iPod 5g owners(like me :-))

- OregonTrail, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Thank You! OMG I was about to buy QT Pro fer real.
- gokies, on 10/12/2007, -10/+0NEATO!
http://www.gmailinvitation.com - roguepirate, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0ilounge ran some conversion tests from DVD to h264 and it roughly takes 60-90 minutes for a conversion, not sure if thats worth it.
- navigatenet, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0looks neat-though Windows only as far as I can tell
- silverdragon, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0lol its not for mac?
- techietown, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0oh i bet, i know it takes awhile takin' files from dvd->h.264. like i'm findin' that it takes about 20min. to convert a 1hr.(42min.) show(once on the hard drive), i don't think that's to bad. time consuming when you have alot...yes.
- 200iso, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2i admin this guy's site +digg.
- bigboludo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0feels just like pspvideo9. The interface could be simplified greatly.
- hasbeenhere, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2i only got a 4G iPod
- Chaos12, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Wow hasbeenhere thats ***** relevant dude.
nice app btw :) - FunHeadlines, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Most iPod owners are Windows users, so a Win-only app is not unheard of. Mac users could already do this.
- manfesto, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I don't have a 5th gen iPod (then again, nobody else does, so I'm still kinda weirded out by the number of how-to guides already), but I'm pretty sure ffmpegx for OS X will do the job if you don't have a PC. They both use FFMpeg, I'm pretty sure.
- manfesto, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Oh, and those that don't want to shell out cash for/pirate quicktime pro - I noticed yesterday that iMovie's "share" function can export to "iPod format" and I've been wondering how long that's been there (because I'm not sure if I've updated my system since the October 12th event). If you can't get movies into iMovie to start with, that doesn't help much - I just found it interesting.
- Snyder, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Nice! Works like a charm!
+ digg - Dingle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2haha buy quicktime pro...thats funny.
- JCPicache, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0manfesto is right, these apps use FFMpeg
- dub24, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12 Things ...
1) It has batch encoding, so transcoding multiple videos to put on an iPod isn't so bad.
2) I just used it on a family guy episode in xvid that was 21 minutes long. It took roughly 15 minutes and the final file size went from 174 to 139. This was all done at 768kbps and 128kbps. - 21.0, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0sick of all the apple stuff being peecee only wtf.
- notalent420, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Well first off it is very similar to PSP video 9 because it is the same frickin program just updated to transfer the videos to the ipod instead of psp. And it's PC only because this company happens to make Windows only software. I am even more sick of all these mac fanboys getting all worked up about how there's more games on Windows, more content creation software on Windows, etc.
- notalent420, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Oh yes, and this gets no digg because pspvideo9 can do the same job as this new version.
- techietown, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1that's absolutely right, it does, but does psp9 do h.264? i'm not sure...but i know this does and i love h.264 :-)
- TheDecn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Looks to me like pspvideo9 is about to become "Videora PSP Converter". Probably won't be long until the converters costs $$ just like Videora.
- mightymouse, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Way to release everything before anyone even gets their ipod...
- mikataur, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0> but does psp9 do h.264?
Yes it does. I think it is referred to as AVC though, which I think stands for Advanced Video Codec, just like AAC stands for Advanced Audio Codec but is really an MPEG-4 codec as well (hence the .MP4 extension).
So...
H.264 / AVC / MPEG-4 Part 10
...all refer to the same thing. - mikataur, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0> If you can't get movies into iMovie to start with, that doesn't help much - I just found it interesting.
There is software called "DVDxDV" which is meant to turn anything in an (unencrypted) .VOB format into DV for editing with iMovie.
Mainly useful to re-edit Revenge of the Sith, if you think the Star Wars Geek could do a better acting job than Hayden C! - techietown, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0ok, thx, now i know that psp 9 does do h.264...should be a common name for these formats accross all these programs...it would be so much easier. but again, thx for the info!
- dazed.duck, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Excluding Azureus' RSS Importer/Feed Scanner, is there an alternative to Videora 2.0?
- Alaerus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I'm sure there will be lots of ways to encode video to my iPod soon. I downloaded this program and I'm using it right now. The interface is pretty simple; anyone on this site should not have a problem with it. I'm glad this came out before my new iPod came in, now I can have some videos ready to go when it arrives.
- techietown, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0oh ya, me to! i've got hours and hours of stuff(mostly vidcasts) ready to go as soon as mine arrives. can hardly wait.
- Min49er, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0It does not work. It will play in iTunes, but when you try to copy it to the iPod it say invalid file type. Looks like QT Pro is the only way to currently do it. But it takes forever.
- veritech, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Anyone think this might work with a Palm T|X and TCPMP, the video's are the same resolution at least...
- techietown, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0really? invalid file? wow...i sure hope that it works for me
- buckdog05, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Works perfectly for me. Took about 20 minutes to convert a Simpsons episode. 1X speed is fine with me. Looks great on my iPod too.
- Dingle, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I can't get this thing to work either. Files plays fine in itunes but not on ipod. I've just been using quicktime and exporting it to the ipod.
- Alaerus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Just tried today, took some advice from a friend and used one of the "SP" settings...it worked great. I could not get any of the H.264 ones to work.
- Berek, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Has anyone else noticed any problems. I'm trying to convert a DVD now. The program has been at 100% for awhile and it's still going.
- RipVanMania, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I use the Lathe video converter for this and it works great. Right now it requires a minor tweaking of the built in settings for PSP but a free update with a built in iPod video preset is being released any day.

- supervixen176, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0i just got my ipod and i converted a bunch of movies into mpeg-4 format using videora... they all play just fine except that about 5 - 10 minutes into every movie the audio track skips about 1/2 second ahead of the video track... why is that?
- bbydeuce, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0yeah i have the 30gb iPod and i have converted 2 movies using the Videora iPod Converter... Yeah my first movie worked but then the second wouldn't go on my iPod, it said that it wouldn't work on my iPod... The first movie worked fine but when it was being converted it said 100% but it was still going... I was like what the heck but yeah it worked so whatever...
- techietown, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0ya, it works on most movie files for me onto my iPod, but one is scrambled video, and only audio. so i hope they get the conversion settings right soon.
- Rampager83, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I've been using Videora for iPod and love it. I have a few questions for the group, however:
1. How can you preseve the Chapter Menua & chapter breaks. Sometimes
I restart my iPod and want to go to a different part of the movie.
2. My pc seems to be moving slower than what ya'll are reporting.
It is taking me about 1-1.5 hours for a full DVD to convert. I
am using a P4 3.0 HT, 1GB PC3200, w/ SATA Drives. Any ideas?
Thanks!
Rampager83 - somekid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0wtf i cant get the Videora to work for me. Would someone mind sharing their knowledge.

- Searching, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0please to see so many happy customers using videora. i am one sad customer. having problem to convert vcd with videora into ipod format. when i use videora there is no picture and has a hissing sound when played with itune. can any kind soul help me how to convert vcd???? is there anything that i missed?
- Loaner, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0It does work. I only yesterday bought my 30GB I-Pod and have converted over 1GB of video and transfered them to my I-pod and it works like a charm.
Basically three (3) clicks and the convertion starts.
You do not need to be a Rocket Scientist to get the converter to work.
If at 1st you do not succeed? TRY AGAIN - Loaner, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0If you downloaded VIDEORA correctly no changes need to be made.
To start click on convert, Then click on ONE CLICK. Now browse to the file you want to convert and load it. The converter should start in a few seconds.
Once the file is converted, locate where VIDEORA has stored the file on your computer. Open I-Tunes and click on FILE on the top left and then click on ADD FILE TO LIBRARY and browse to where the new converted file is located on your Hard Drive. Click it and that will load it on I - Tunes. You will now see the new file in VIDEOS of I - TUNES as well as in the Library.
Now connect your I -Pod and update it and it should work without any problem.
IF you upload the unconverted file it will not work. Make sure the file you upload to I-Tunes is the new converted file.
GOOD Luck - shygrrl4evr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0hey Loaner?
i did what u said to do on ur comment.....but it didnt work...which is strange.
