- mismith356, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1LOL....oh well...that's what I get being a smart ass!
Try this instead from VLC-->open file-->mms://media.sitestream.com/theplatform2_sitestream_com/open/Wall_Street_Journal_Video_Center/41/571/101205_1605_42527362_300.asf - hyperpasta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ummmm, guess what. The new iPod is a music player with video, not a video player with music, because in the end the music side is and always be more popular.
- trongod05, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1First and foremost I would like to say that Creative can EAT A BAG OF DICKS! I owned two Zen Micros that were absolute *****. The second one I just threw in the trash and said "***** it I'm gonna buy an iPod like I should have in the first place!" Guess what? No problems with the iPod. The trouble with creative is that they have lots of features that don't work worth a *****! Sorry for the profanity but I don't think I have ever owned a product that performed like it should have. I am completely done with creative. I am never giving them my money ever again.
P.S. ***** you Creative! - davidg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"To use MSN Video, you need to install free software"
Hey! They GPLed IE!!! - NSXROX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Don't waste your time firing up IE for this crap. I regret the fact that I did. Nothing you haven't heard before.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ATTN: wikiterra. "..you need an ipod to listen to AAC and watch H.264".
You do NOT need an iPod to play AAC and you do NOT need a Mac or a video iPod to play H.264.
AAC is an audio compression algorithm which, just like any other compression type (mp3 for example) can be decoded using the right codec, in this case one which is part of the free to download Quicktime suite.
Secondly H.264 is the newest industry standard for scalable video compression and was developed in conjunction with the motion picture experts group (MPEG). It is essentially an Apple Quicktime technology but, again, does not require a Macintosh computer or for that matter a video iPod for playback.
The point I think you and several others here were trying to make, by the way, is complete rubbish - and here's why. Designing a site that is only viewable by one particular kind of browser running on one particular kind of operating system is just plain anti-social.
If Windows users want to be on a different internet to the rest of us there's little we can do to warn them about where it will lead. But you can't deny it really makes the place smell a lot better. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Doesn't that just tell you everything you need to know about Microsoft's way of sharing information?
- infra172, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0CBNC? Did your mother feed you paint?
- xedeon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hectorhector wow "I never knew the Creative Zen has all those features!!!! it beats the heck out of the iPod's almost perfect looks, functionality and UI!! I CANNOT wait to buy one!! and be the envy off all my friends!! WoW simply wow!!" umm.. go Creative?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1*****..dugg it in anticipation..
Ironic, not a single mac user is gonna be able to watch this - SilentSpyder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0IE..Bah, no digg.
- KAMI_no_kodomo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Need IE????
What the *tuut*???
Is ms already so afraid of FireFox en Opera that they start doing this?
No dig! - Pronoun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The new iPod is the same price as the 20 gig. Extra 10 gigs and video for the same price. There are already several tutorials on adding DVD's, V-blogs and personal content. Seems like a nice upgrade to test the waters of offering video on the iTunes music store. People will still buy the iPod for music, but it is nice to be able to view video and photos.
- bwmiller72, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow! I got to "enjoy" an ad that couldn't be skipped in IE to watch this video. What an um... experience. ;)
- siouxmoux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0CBNC, Eh? New Network. It must only available in Canada.
- myrdog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0+digg however that guy is terrible at running an interview, he kept paraphrasing what jobs was about to say instead of posing a QUESTION!
- SystemError, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0msn vid. no did
- lemalk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Damn it - please advise people this is a PC/IE only story not accessible through Mozilla, Firefox, Safari, etc.
No digg.
Someone who CAN access, please convert to mpeg or avi version. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If the new iPod supports mpeg4 then why does everyone keep saying it doesn't suport MPEG4-SP compatible DivX or XviD ... are you people retarded?
- McZiggz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0VLC is a tank. It really can play any video i throw @ it!
- mismith356, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Laurent...VLC my brother...no damn WMP ***** for me man....
Oh, btw...your welcome :-) - motionblur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No Firefox = No Digg
- [Lep], on 10/12/2007, -0/+0oh yeah, that's definately a CBNC interview..
- superal1394, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0there is fast forward and rewind you idiot, if you click the select button, then spin the click wheel, the same way you do to increase the volume, it skips through the movie/song to the point you want.
- atf487, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Pronoun: Exactly. People keep saying this video iPod is going to be the death of apple and everything, but it has a 50% increase in storage capacity, and thinner. The increase in storage capacity is worth the purchase alone.
- Flawless, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"--Videos are restricted to music and 5 ABC tv series for now, and are two dollars each"
Duh... It's called testing the waters dude. When the iTMS store launched, did it start off with a million song catalogue? To beef up a catalogue, one needs to negociate with those who own the rights to the content. Looks like Apple actually has a deal with ABC... does that mean that NBC, CBS, FOX, HBO content won't EVER be available? Duh... give it time...
"This is not making new content available, but monatarising existing free content - e.g.: TV, and music videos"
Once again... DUH! The content you watch on standard TV is free only because you're forced to sit through a ***** of commercials when you watch it. And as for those cable channels? I don't know how the system works in the states, but here in Canada, a part of what I pay every month to my cable provider goes straight to those speciality channels I subscribe to. So those shows aren't "free". Now if you take those "free" shows, and decide to offer them in ad-free versions... you now have a entirely different product than the one that's being pushed on the airwaves... and this product has a definite monetary value. - laurentlasalle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0THE LINK WORKS WITH WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER 9 FOR MAC! Interesting to listen to Steve off stage, although this is a link to very short extract of his interview...
Again, this link works with WMP9 on Mac OS X :

Wall_Street_Journal_Video_Center/41/571/101205_1605_42527362_300.asf - spike1201, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I too am not bothering to check this out unless they support QuickTime, and I've left Feedback on their site explaining just that:
"Good content, but poor technology choices. I won't be using your site unless you offer a QuickTime alternative to your stories with video." - ross., on 10/12/2007, -0/+0no mac no digg
- tarun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Haha. SJ is on CNBC all the time--usually right after a keynote. He never answers anything. I remember his "interview" after the Mac mini launched. It wasn't funny how little information it contained.
- Linuxrocks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The video iPod is useless for video. The screen is too small and the quality sucks. It's good the thing is the same price as the original iPods.
- ozjmu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Damn, Steve Jobs is cocky.
And yes, I ordered my first iPod last Thursday... - xedeon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@ mismith356 poor guy.. next time post a torrent or use the CCDN (Coral Content Distribution Network) more info here http://www.coralcdn.org/ so you won't get this next time..
"This Account Has Been Suspended
Please contact the billing/support department as soon as possible." - jadams, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0requires ie and msn - no digg
- dickrichie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Just like you need an ipod to listen to AAC and watch H.264." You do not need an ipod to watch H264. Itunes, Quicktime, VLC, M-Player and even a plug-in for WMP will do it. AAC is just Mpeg 4. a dolby standard. You know dolby the guys that base their entire existence around sound. Yeah them.
- Jasoco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you don'tlike it, use the Feedback link to tell them what you think of their refusal to get with the times and make their goddamned site WORK IN ALL BROWSERS.
- catullus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0haha wow! i have seen this title like a bunch of times and didn't notice that. and my guess is hardly any of the other diggers did either. nice catch there jzimmerlin. i guess CNBC ironically *is* kind of appropriate though, as it stands for "Close, But No Cigar"
- sharpeyed1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@mismith356: You know by now how popular asite Digg is. Hope you get your account back (and the bandwidth bill isn't too high).
A torrent link would probably be advisable at this point. Anybody manage to snag the vid before the account was suspended? - culebra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Boo earns.
- catullus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0*****. i mean "i guess CBNC"
- hawks5999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@CryingWolf: My thoughts exactly. Since no one outside of the media has been hands on with a 5th Gen iPod, I wonder how they can say the video sucks or the screen is too small. LinuxRocks has earned my first "block user".
- antoniojvr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Boooo. No direct link to the video, people? No digg.
- mismith356, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I had to register just to comment on this....
Damn...you would think with everyone bitchin' bout needing IE, somebody would have used the firefox goole search feature..????
....why did nobody friggin google the words "steve jobs cnbc interview mov"?
Here ya go...
REQUIRES QT or VLC and any browser you like ;-)
http://www.ckelley.co.uk/neowin/sjcnbcwwdc05.mov - CryingWolf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@Lunixrocks: How do you know? Funny how people make this kind of comment when they haven't even seen one!
- WikiTerra, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0First of all I will give this a digg because I bet nobody on here has visited the MSN website in the past month, so where else would any of us have heard about it from?
Secondly, you need to use IE because this is from CNBC. Here's the equation: MS + NBC = MSN.com and MSNBC. Where else is NBC going to broadcast content from its news channel? Thus, you need IE to watch MSN content. Just like you need an ipod to listen to AAC and watch H.264.
Isn't that funny? ABC on the iPod and NBC on MS's portal. I wonder if CBS will buddy up with yahoo anytime soon... - rabiddogma, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Hmmm can't view it so ***** it. Don't need it. Something ironic about a video about an Apple story that's only viewable on windows *****.
- Bigfat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0No Firefox, no Digg. Learn to find decent links, people.
- ra3ndy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0IT's either ironic or asinine that a story of 90% interest to mac users can't be viewed by mac users. Fu** a bunch of this post.
- rohizzle121, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0^^tru dat tru dat
