    --Videos are restricted to music and 5 ABC tv series for now, and are two dollars each
    --This is not making new content available, but monatarising existing free content - e.g.: TV, and music videos
    --The ipod video only supports H.264 video, Mpeg 4, and *.MOV (quicktime) formats - not the much more common DivX, Xvid or even windows media (Compared to Zen Vision which supports both)
    --Video playback when fully charged is only 2 hours! (Compared to 4.5 hours on Zen Vision)
    --Screen is only 2.3' (Compared to 3.7' on the Creative Zen Vision)
    --Only 320x240 videos can be played back - so forget connecting this to your TV or converting your existing videos - although it is possible to rip a DVD specifically for this format [1] (http://diveintomark.org/howto/ipod-dvd-ripping-guide/)
    --No fastforward or rewind!
    --Television shows will only be available in the US market! - defeating the entire point of putting them online. Thankyou Steve 'Sellout' Jobs

There are already several tutorials on adding DVD's, V-blogs and personal content. Seems like a nice upgrade to test the waters of offering video on the iTunes music store. People will still buy the iPod for music, but it is nice to be able to view video and photos.

    Duh... It's called testing the waters dude. When the iTMS store launched, did it start off with a million song catalogue? To beef up a catalogue, one needs to negociate with those who own the rights to the content. Looks like Apple actually has a deal with ABC... does that mean that NBC, CBS, FOX, HBO content won't EVER be available? Duh... give it time...

    Once again... DUH! The content you watch on standard TV is free only because you're forced to sit through a ***** of commercials when you watch it. And as for those cable channels? I don't know how the system works in the states, but here in Canada, a part of what I pay every month to my cable provider goes straight to those speciality channels I subscribe to. So those shows aren't "free". Now if you take those "free" shows, and decide to offer them in ad-free versions... you now have a entirely different product than the one that's being pushed on the airwaves... and this product has a definite monetary value.

    Secondly, you need to use IE because this is from CNBC. Here's the equation: MS + NBC = MSN.com and MSNBC. Where else is NBC going to broadcast content from its news channel? Thus, you need IE to watch MSN content. Just like you need an ipod to listen to AAC and watch H.264.

    Isn't that funny? ABC on the iPod and NBC on MS's portal. I wonder if CBS will buddy up with yahoo anytime soon...

  • catullus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0hahaha i didn't even *realize* this was IE-only when i watched it. calm down firefox fanboys, i realize that i'm exposing myself to whatever sort of weird ass attacks firefox protects me from, but SlimBrowser, which is what i use, is a great IE shell nonetheless - tabbed browsing, mouse gestures, AutoLogin, customizable search box, ad filtering, pretty much anything you can think of- oh and uh, yeah, i don't have any spyware, adware, viruses, crapware etc and have never had any either. and yes i use the internet regularly. so firefox, meh, i use it occasionally, but not really a big deal to me
