- isdereks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Grow up. More often than not you'll hear people reference OS X rather than OS 10.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7And command and option (and any other) keys can be swapped in Apple's keyboard preference pane.
- rauz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Looks nice, cool set of features too but I don't think I could live without a numpad on a full sized kbd.
- winnopeg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6It looks like a really nice keyboard.
- isdereks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Note that enabling media and sidebar buttons can be accomplished using ControllerMate.
- wphj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Same, I love my MacBook's keyboard, I hardly ever us my full size Apple one.
- Rice, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5You can move the dock down there using some third-party tools. I use Onyx and keep mind in the bottom, shifted to the left.
- colincornaby, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6In general these are the steps I take to use a PC keyboard with a Mac.
Step 1: Plug it in.
There is no step 2. - Glenn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5This is the most amazing keyboard on the market...bar the Optimus, when did they say that was coming..?
- isdereks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Generally those are usually the only steps required. You can do that same with the diNovo but the extra media buttons won't work. It's definitely something to live without but a nice detail to fix.
- vagarach, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Did you take *one* look at that keyboard?? I mean it has a touch sensitive slider for volume control.....how cool is that?
Of course spending $200 on a keyboard is silly, but here the money is going towards the form of the thing. - williamw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Personally I think the optimus is a bit much. Especially when think of battery life and such.
- jstevewhite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3M... Pedantry aside, most people I know refer to it as "OSX" generically, with the "ten" distinction saved for differentiation from OS9 and prior. I'm not sure what the benefit of becoming incensed over people's usage of such terms might be, and certainly not in support of the idea of KILLING those that do. Anger issues, my friend?
- isdereks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Remapped and no beep.
- Topher06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Because selling keyboards with the Apple symbol won't make you rich.
- antidentite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2agreed
- indraneel24, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2the optimus isn't that great for the price value. i might as well use my mouse.
- Rice, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow. That's a pretty nice keyboard.
I'll stay content with my MacBook Pro keyboard though. I love love love it. - danielwsmithee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah it looks amazing. I'm sure it feals great too like the dinovo do. Lets hope it drops in price soon though.
- mozzep, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2tinkertool lets you place the dock in a corner of the screen. http://www.bresink.com/osx/TinkerTool.html
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's funny that Logitech would choose to use a audible warning beep for the Caps Lock key instead of just moving the damn thing out of the way! Prime keyboard real estate wasted on a key that people hit mostly by accident, so much so that it requires a warning beep. Madness!
Since most people already remap Caps Lock to Control or Command anyway, the question is: does a remapped Caps Lock key still beep? - isdereks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No disconnect errors after restarts on the new one. I have noticed a slight delay while waiting for the keyboard to pair. I have automatic login disabled and notice a 1-2 second delay before the first key press is registered. I can go ahead and type my whole password but the 1-2 second delay prevents the password from being typed into the input box. As soon as the keyboard connects the complete password is reflected and I can log in.
- NewChar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's useful in Windows (Win-D: show desktop, Win-R: run dialog box, etc), but also just as an extra mod key in other OS's. I use Win and Ctrl-Win to switch between my two desktops in Linux.
- bjornkeizers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I happen to own one. Yes, it's a $200 keyboard, but once you get past the price tag, you'll find it's well worth every penny.
Featurewise you get bluetooth connectivity, li-ion charging, a touchpad, volume slider, hidden buttons, etc. The typing experience itself is great; much better then any other keyboard (laptop or regular) I've tried. Excellent pitch & travel, proper sized keys and a decent amount of force needed to operate them. It really is a joy to use.
I was skeptical as well -- bluetooth & wireless; it either won't connect, or it'll run out juice in ten minutes, right? Well, it was completely plug-and-play, the board has *never* lost a connection, and power?...
I purchased the Dinovo on november 15th. I charged it fully, and I'm still using that same charge. Two months so far -- and the battery meter guesstimates that I have approximately 10 days of charge left.
It's expensive, but it's more then worth it. - tigertiger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It may look nice, but this keyboard is nothing special. The missing number pad is a pain, the touch-sensitive volume slider is pointless and it's not as comfortable to type on compared to a normal keyboard. It is well suited to living room PCs, but the price is still insane. Save some cash and buy a 20-year old IBM Model-M instead.
- tbryant87, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1First, wireless is better because it looks cleaner. Why have two extra wires hanging around on your desk if you don't need them.
Second...It's useful. Have you ever been in a conference room? I don't know if I've ever seen a keyboard with a 30 foot cable. It's pointless and also a pain in the a$$ to have a cord that long hanging around.
Third...It's cool. I can use my keyboard up to 60 feet from my computer without loosing signal. Where might I use this? Maybe if I had a projector and I wanted to use that as a computer monitor.
Start thinking outside of your little shoebox and ask yourself why things that we use today are wireless and what are their advantages. Things like:
Cell Phones, cordless phones, remote controls, headphones, wireless access points, keyboards, and mice. - antidentite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm not a fan of the sharp edge on the macbook. Hand can get sore while using the mouse pad for an extended period. Not sure if it is the same for the MBP.
- mfratt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Only stupidppl crap up digg with blogspam.
I have a feeling that diggmirrors is the same guy as stupidppl. Can the admins do an IP-block on him? - isdereks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have no idea why ControllerMate successfully recognizes all the other keys other than the fn+F1. I took some cues regarding using Quicksilver commands for the media keys.
- howdareyou, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1dugg because he was listening to Sigur Rós, and the keyboard is sexy.
- mozzep, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2but will you be original?
- TravisS, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I tried this keyboard for a few weeks awhile back. Great, great keyboard, although I didn't really try to make the function buttons work on Mac then. Also lack of a number pad was annoying, but that's just because it's an essential for me.
- ehamilton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I set up all the media keys using ControllerMate except for the media key above the F1 (VoIP?) key as the app doesn't seem to recognize it. I used the "Extras" option in CM to map the remaining Search, Mail and Home buttons. I mapped the track scan and play keys using keyboard outputs to my Quicksilver triggers that I use to control iTunes.I mapped the zoom keys to the zoom keys in Safari. I mapped the percent zoom to Megazoomer (ctrl+enter). Not having the functionality of these keys isn't a big loss in my book. I think Quicksilver provides more fluid access to all of the apps that you can program into the keyboard. Here's a screenshot of how I mapped things in CM for what its worth.
http://snipurl.com/186km - Focher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have been using my Logitech diNovo Media keyboard on my iMacs (both PPC and Intel) for a couple of years now. There is really only one irritation I have with it and I don't know if it is true on the new diNovo, but if you restart the machine the keyboard often loses its association as a Bluetooth device and you have to go through the connect process again. Doesn't happen with the mouse, just the keyboard.
No one was ever able to tell me why or offer a solution. - tbryant87, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I just go this keyboard for Christmas. I love it. Does anyone have any experience using this with Linux? I have it working with Fedora 6 but I don't know how to use any of the function buttons.
- mydave, on 08/05/2008, -0/+0It's really nice, very nice keyboard.

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1***** stupid media keys
ti-powerbook
non-pro macbook keyboards all the way - jstevewhite, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2$200!!!???!!! For a KEYBOARD? Is it just me, or is that a little bit crazy?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Diggmirrors: Blocky blocky.
- frickindeal, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Why do manufacturers insist that we need a keyboard that's wireless? Instead of a reliable keyboard that's always plugged in and available, I get something that needs to be stood up in a stand when I'm leaving the office for the day? With a battery meter on the keyboard? I mean why do I need batteries when the computer and several wall plugs are right there? Am I taking this keyboard on the road with me?
It's wireless for wireless' sake, and that doesn't cut it when the alternative is much simpler. At least not for me. Give me this keyboard, USB powered with 104 keys, and if it types like the scissor-switch UltraX, I'll buy it. - mscman, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Thank you! I'm glad I wasn't the only one that was annoyed by that.
My friend keeps calling it that, and every time I smack him. Tough love.
Although, killing may be a little harsh... - nikolas, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1And more often than not, people are wrong. When Steve Jobs called it OS 10, it pretty much means it's correct.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5Blog says: "Windows key. Why do keyboard manufacturers assume users want that button?"
Because people use it. Get outside of your bubble and realize that there are competing operating systems out there. - nikolas, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Let's all kill him for calling it OS X (The letter) in the video rather than pronouncing it as it should be, X being the roman numeral for the number 10, OS 10.
- Topher06, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Ooh, a PC component working on a Mac, the wonders never cease.
- Dolomite, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3But will it blend?
