artists are currently having to innovate and bring new experiences to their users....look at the way NIN are exploring all of the available tech to bring new ideas and ways of experiencing the band.
U2 wanted to try something cool for their fans but apple said no so they went elsewhere. Irrespective of what you think of their music how does this make U2 the bad guys? becuase they wont restrict themselves to what apple are willing to do?

They just broke the record for fastest-selling concert tour EVER (over 650,000 tix in 8 hours). Selling out every 70,000 seat stadium they book (twice, in most cases). When they don't sell over a million tickets for the first leg of their tour, then maybe no one cares.

Bono brings up a good point. The word "closed-source" does not even begin to capture apple's attitude towards technology.
