- seattle98104, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12don't tell anyone, but you can make your own custom filters and titles with QC for iMovie ...
on imoviehd.app do show package contents and find the example quartz compositions and modify and save new ones. - flickr, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Actually, Quartz Composer was an acquisition. The original product was called PixelShox Studio.
- dgtljunglist, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Making screensavers with QC is really slick, though unfortunately they do tend to run just a bit slower than native ones...
You can do stuff like pick up mic levels or the ambient light sensor. I think there was even something about MIDI control... - mr804, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4http://developer.apple.com/graphicsimaging/quartz/
- FredFredrickson, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Gosh, I didn't mean any offense by that... I just meant that it's the system for drawing things in Mac, like DX is for drawing things in Windows. You Mac Diggers are too paranoid, lol.
- geminitojanus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Actually its not at all like DirectX which is why you were modded down in the first place. Quartz is a two-part graphics system: Quartz Compositor and Quartz (the drawing API). The former does compositing and rasterization (is somewhat analogous to Xorg), and the latter does vector drawing and layout (and is analogous to the libraries "Pango" and "Cairo" on Linux). Vista has API likenesses to this too, but prior to that the graphics layer in Windows is completely different.
- davidhildreth, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3uh, a quick google search would have made you look less like an ass
- veritech, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I found the post before it got posted on digg, and i've been playing with it for an hour, i can see that it has the ability to be very powerful.
Looking forward to working it into my apps. - seattle98104, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3well that, and probably only one person actually read the article ...
- pinchies, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Ive been making my own for just over a year. Does anybody know of any forums for .qtz file sharing? - thanks in advance
- samsoffes, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Quartz Composer has been in os x for awhile now. It's purpose is to create and manipulate graphics in realtime. It is going to be a big part of 10.5
- sdm011, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3The first videos of this podcast are video tutorials for quartz. They helped me start to learn it. http://ubergeek.churchtechtalk.com/. Also check out the Apple's quartz programming guide if you want to learn how to turn these into native mac applications.

-jcr - NSResponder, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2You could also go right to Apple's developer web site, and start with a rather better tutorial:

- elfprince13, on 10/10/2007, -5/+1104 diggs and only 3 comments. i love it when that happens
- jtb4, on 10/10/2007, -5/+1Um, thanks for the "tutorial" that basically advertises joining your RSS feed.
- chiliwilli, on 10/10/2007, -6/+2soooo... what's the purpose of Quartz?
- FredFredrickson, on 10/10/2007, -7/+2It's kinda like DirectX on Windows
- h3xley, on 10/10/2007, -11/+1I'm pretty sure Apple made Quartz Composer themselves...
