7. You did it, those pesky Apple stories will no longer annoy you! - gr4yscale, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11I have an iphone. I can't say bittorrenting on the EDGE network will be a pleasant experience.
- ScottAG, on 10/10/2007, -4/+14Wow. Will this mean that Leo stops with his whining?? Namaste!
- sw1val, on 10/10/2007, -4/+13(firmware v1.1.1 has video out support)..........
How sweet would it be if someone was able to sync a keyboard or a Wii-mote to the iPhone and run the NES emulator in video out mode.
Ultra Portable Video out NES emulator FTW - Daisuke, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6* How does it cost more money to use the internet if it's unlocked?
* There are plenty of iPhones on carriers other than AT&T.
* There are no 'customers' to deal with here - just people having fun with technology _they_ own, not Apple or AT&T. Of course they're going to be at the 'power-user level' to do an unlock - if they're at all interested in unlocking their phone to run hackish 3rd party apps of course they're gonna be. Not many other people see the beauty in it.
All in all, quit being a douche. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPhone
- stoanhart, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5http://digg.com/apple/Got_root_on_the_iPod_touch_T ...
It probably means most apps will work for it - Koldewyse, on 10/10/2007, -7/+11Sweet! At least until Apple pwns us again.
- pyrates, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Oh shut it will you. I want my hacked iphone. Of course the apps are gonna be free. I don't have a problem with this. But remember it is now pretty damn easy to get third party apps on the iphone 1.0.2 firmware, and easy to unlock, it's just a matter of time.
- SenatorChubby, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5FREEEEEDOM!!!
- zweben, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5"leo's big problem with apple is not allowing unlocking (which is illegal)"
No, it isn't. The only law relating to unlocking says that hacking a phone to unlock it is not illegal. There is no law that in any way disallows companies to keep their phones locked to the best of their ability. - madmage, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Unless (until) they crack 1.2.1 as well...
- thenewkasanova, on 10/10/2007, -6/+9What does this mean for the iPod touch?
- SenatorChubby, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2FREEEEDOM!!!!
- sholt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Hey, that's cool, just don't come crying to us or Apple when your business tanks because you've built it upon a security exploit Apple will surely patch.
- KillTheRhythm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think he was trying to be funny.
- sw1val, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1thats why I said keyboard or Wii-mote, I forgot to mention that they booth would be bluetooth devices. cheers!
- gabrielleg, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Awesome. This is amazing.
- roymckenzie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Sweet to the beat
- schotty, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Convince a jury of that.
If Pioneer sends a goon over to smash my car stereo because I hacked it to have a cooler screen, that is illegal. Why is it that when a software is beamed into it that fries it it is okay? Same *****, different stick. - sneakerelph, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2but... but... bit torrent could bring down the entire cellular system! OH NOES!
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I don't think it's going to cost people more money to use an iPhone with another carrier (as long as you don't have to go through contract cancelation hell), but what I'm having problems understanding is all the whining over what Apple did with the last update. Were ANY of you surprised that it killed all the unofficial 3rd party apps? Were ANY of you surprised that it didn't support unofficial SIM hacking (or otherwise) to use with another carrier BESIDES the one Apple is getting money from for each phone?
I feel meh about the iPhone so I didn't buy one. But to hear the amount of bitching on digg (mostly from people who didn't even have an iPhone and just hate Apple for some psychotic reason) was ridiculous. - DomZy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Anyone know the details of how the got root access to the partition? What kind of exploit etc?
- dgp1, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2LOL seriously.
Where are all those *****' dorks who were all over the tubes last month with the "ZOMG MY iFONE IS A BRIK NOW ZOMG ZOMG AAPL SCREWED MEEEEEZ" crap?
See, just wait until the new firmware is hacked, morons. - ialan2, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1must be dark under that rock
- funnyboy88, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2While I'm happy the battle rages on, I'm getting impatient waiting for Apple to announce real native 3rd party apps.
- oneshare325, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3umm...he has the right to "whine", leo's big problem with apple is not allowing unlocking (which is illegal).
But yea he did want third party apps, who doesn't. I was running 1.0.2 and while app tapp was cool, but there was nothing really there that made me not upgrade to 1.1.1. I mean third party apps were cool, but not as cool as the Wi-Fi music store. So when they get them running on 1.1.1, I am down again. If apple keeps giving me better reasons to upgrade every-time, I really don't care. (Or if really productive and awesome third party apps come out) - EBFoxbat, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1How hard would it be to make a USB->iPod NES controller? There are USB NES controllers that works a generic HIDs.
- EBFoxbat, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1If you love the hacks than you love this. If you hate the hacks than you love this because it forces Apple to release a new firmware (or give up). Since Apple knows few people will update their firmware without new features, I'll assume new features are on their way.
I bet Apple had hopped 1.1.1 would get them to 1.2.0 which I think is coming with Leopard. Perhaps a 1.1.9 will be a stripped down 1.2.0 and be released soon. - dontaskagain, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1This is one cause im happy to donate towards. I've paid as much as £20 ($40) in the past for an unlock code from a provider. It's only fair i offer the same to the dev team. I only wish i could offer more..
- EBFoxbat, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Freedom?!?!?!? This is Sparta!!!! Hey...wait a minute
- saturnstar, on 12/31/2007, -0/+0That was cool...

- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1This morning, we were having a lot of trouble getting third-party iPhone apps to show up properly and run on the home screen. Despite the fact that Apple has added extra protections to SpringBoard and created a list of approved identifiers, iPhone hacker asap18 has managed to port several applications to the iPhone and gotten them to appear properly on the home screen
- EBFoxbat, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Freedom?!?!?!? This is Sparta!!!! Hey...wait a minute
- ibone, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0digg me down fanboys... digg me the fuq down... LOL

- cthellis, on 10/10/2007, -3/+0I hope someone sues Apple for letting their devices get hacked again, because I'd like to test the upper bounds of my irony meter.
