- meannate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Jeeze, that come-on text is so sickly-sweet it makes me throw up a little - "...all that matters: music and mind, heart and soul." and "a match made in nature."
It's a freakin' iPod. Yeah, the nano is sweet. Yeah, you still need a way to protect it. But it's still a GADGET... not something you'll pass on to your bastard children. - tarun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Cool product but the Bill and Melinda thing is definitely a joke. No where on the site do they claim that Mrs. Gates has one. They're just using the names Bill and Melinda as an example. It works because it's just an example to non-geeks and to geeks who are aware of the famous couple it's funny because Bill would never buy an Apple MP3 player even if it is for his wife.
- kevinrose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1that is sick.. I totally want one.
- movieguyjon, on 04/03/2009, -0/+1I laughed at the iWood and then realized how cool it looked...a definite digg
- jagnum1fan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I would really like to see a Nano that actually has a wooden casing. Not something you put it in. Like, it would be so badass if they could pull that off somehow. Instead of metal or plastic... use wood. Not a hard concept, just very hard to implement I'm sure. Cool either way, though. Thanks for the article.
- mantis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, pure beauty....great job! Good Luck! Notify me...good concept.
- CaptSnuffy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"a match made in nature."
cool product but what a terrible line! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"You people are sheep"
Yup, and Apple loves them for it.
- digg for a lame product. - synystar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ok, I think it's pretty cool. I'll probably buy one. The Bill & Melinda gimmick was smart. Not that I believe for a second that Mr. Gates got one for Mrs. Gates. Still cool.
- wbreim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yes lets encase a great piece of technology with wood. good job. I'd much much rather have this http://www.clubmac.com/clubmac/shop/detail.asp?dpno=629347&store=clubmac&source=cwbfroogle&adcampaign=email,cwbfroogle

Screw a wood case, how about a wood iPod? - Wolfman~K, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm not big on products that take precision engineered designs and make them bigger, however... this is slick.
- Dropscience, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0SWEET!
- hoowahman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh im gonna buy an ipod...no wait an ipod nano, with a wood case!!! BRILLIANT!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0> Wow. I was totally skeptical about Bill Gates
> buying one for his wife, but there it was,
> right there on the iWood Nano site.
Ah, the beauty of click-through agreements. Nice to see one of the slimy bastards that depend upon its legal enforceability finally get screwed by it.
"by clicking on the agreement contain in a 32 segment scroll barred window, not only do you agree to purchase said product without chargeback, but you also agree to allow your name and any engraving specified to be use for advertisement and promotion of said product without compensation. Thank you for buying iWood, click here --> (o)"

Oh, I'm *SURE* he's pissed. I hope it ends up costing him a whole hell of a lot more than the advertised price. - trunkster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Bill Gates has a wife? O_o
Yep, how do you think Microsoft Bob actually made it to the public, because his girlfriend (now his wife) made it. ;) - sufferingant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0price?
- silverdragon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Bill Gates has a wife? O_o
- Seaton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Bill bought her this so he wouldn't have to look at the Apple logo on the back!
- Seaton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The question is, would I buy this? iWood...
- ELWOOD_BLUES, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wood I buy it?;) (Sorry, had to.)
The wood mentioned seems to be hardwood. This should be a bit tougher then you think. - Staggx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, that with the black Nano look amazing - true richness.
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Pretty smart for someone to do. 3rd party cases are usually better and this looks like someone worked hard on it.
- matx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0All we need now, is IWood Earphones ;)
- Cam_86, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0nifty, but the hinge on that thing couldn't be very strong, and the wood would likely snap apart at the hinge if it was dropped on a hard surface... Plus why add more bulk to something designed to be tiny? Esp. when the bulk adds more sensitive stuff.
Just get a gel i-skin cover, when they come out. - cfazzini, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Mrs. Gates got wood from Mr. Gates....
*ducks* - Agent_M, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was skeptical but that looks pretty cool in the pocket. Wouldn't suit a player any bigger than the nano though.
- beejay54, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lol Your wood is nano sized! I'll be here all week folks!
- craterburnsu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Iwood just sounds like an adult Portion of the itunes Video Store :-D
- Jellybones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0how could that NOT be a joke?
and, no, it's discrete - kurdt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I hate companies that can't spell and/or have poor grammar in their ads or publicity materials or whatever. It reflects so poorly on them, makes you close the page.
Discrete? Shouldn't it be discreet?
Two lines message? Shouldn't it be 'two line message'? - jmmb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It would look nice beside a classic wooden cigar humidor on the desk of every executive...pass!
- WildPalms, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Guys...ffs. The site is fake. Do some research before commenting. Its an amusing fake site showing a what-if..and thats all it is. Next you'll be yakking about the Mach-3 Computer being available....sheesh.
- Dolemack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Over 1000 diggs because someone whittled an ipod case out of wood. Lemmings...
- pjones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It would make a great projectile to throw at people.
- SolidSamus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0heh...great name and great case...I hope this person makes one for normal iPods so that way when iGet one I can get that as a case.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"iPod meets nature" I would change that to "iPod screws nature" ie. more trees down...
What a waste of natural resources!
-------
Come on, if you've got to be "angry" about the exploitation of natural resources, at least get all worked up over nonrenewable resources.
Wood can/will always be grown back, not to mention that over 90% of our paper products (including stuff like cardboard) comes from either tree farms or recycled material.
Don't be daft. - wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks pretty cool, but I'd curious how much it is going to cost, and how well it will work. I'm betting that it will be about fifty bucks. And it probably will transmit shocks to the Nano quite well. However, it will protect the nano from scratchs, which it needs.
The "rejected Nano sayings" page cracked me up. Funny they rejected things like "Contains 10,000 stolen songs" but accepted "Tom Cruise is a couch humping *****". - min_t, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hey Man, on da islands, that is called a termite Hilton. It would need 3 coats of polyurethane to make it past tree years. And where's the wooded click wheel.
- seriypshick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dirty nails. I can't believe this.
http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/8008/screenshot101kk.png - stanleyfresh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Damn, that thing looks slick. I'd get a nano just so I can sport one o' those cases!
- M!lla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think these look really cool!
- Harlequn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0can i get one for my mini?
- ndm007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i wonder will they send me a FREE one considering all this advertising digg has done for them with my sotry :)
- samk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"and, no, it's discrete"
No, in this context, it's "discreet."
And no, Bill Gates did not buy one of these. - samgab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dolemack. You're so cool. Can I be like you?
- cubfan65, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There was a comment made that "it's funny because Bill would never buy an Apple MP3 player even if it is for his wife.".........but he did manage to buy 150 million of Apple stock in 1997.
http://news.com.com/2100-1001-842879.html - seriypshick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0COOL i digg
- dknighton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0iWood is what the fanboys got when Uncle Steve held up the nano for all to see a few weeks ago.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0id have one
