- Haecceity, on 06/05/2008, -4/+61The exact same story was on the front page five days ago: http://digg.com/apple/Forbes_New_iPhone_Is_Already ...
Okay, so I know people are on different time zones and all, but when you submit a story Digg tells you if it's a duplicate. - dougvfr750, on 06/04/2008, -5/+41Threats and intimidation?
- zydeco, on 06/05/2008, -0/+9Because it will sell issues of Newsweek.
- hoodratthangs, on 06/05/2008, -3/+10I like how they use a reference to his Jet mileage to leak info about carrier deals. Very clever.
- redwallhp, on 06/05/2008, -0/+4What if you use your iPhone to to take pictures of the new iPhones being assembled?
- ZachSka87, on 06/05/2008, -0/+4Probably the inability to take cameras or phones into the assembly areas....but what do I know?
- vector66, on 06/05/2008, -1/+5Stupid article, it doesn't say much of anything.
- tomh218, on 06/05/2008, -3/+7The iPhone secret? These people don't read macrumors or appleinsider I guess.
- tomwhughes, on 06/05/2008, -0/+4let's be honest here, the dupe detection system on digg is not great...
- Frost9999, on 06/05/2008, -0/+3I really wonder what keeps employees at the assembly plants from taking photos of these new products before release. I guess it's a mixture of threats and intimidation and not knowing how much the rest of the world would like to see those kind of photos.
- Karmavs, on 06/05/2008, -1/+4Bribes and sexual favours?
- Ksg89, on 06/05/2008, -6/+9They have done a rubbish job, pretty much everything except the actualy photos have been "leaked"
- YodaJones, on 06/05/2008, -0/+2One thing for sure is it looks like Steve is bringing a little bit of Christmas in June for us all.
- iWANTmySNback, on 06/05/2008, -0/+2pay attention to the phone you get...... iphones can not be returned after 14 days as of right now
- thefinger, on 06/05/2008, -0/+2Hey Newsweek, you just get here?! My but you're looking old and slow.
- Lewiji, on 06/05/2008, -0/+1Couldn't you buy any old crappy phone on AT&T and transfer the number over to the iPhone? You can do that on o2 here in the UK.
- gforce051, on 06/05/2008, -0/+1Normal?
I'm 17, I work at a grocery store making $7.25/hr and I was able to afford it.
Although, I suppose your food stamps don't cover iPhones. - Me1000, on 06/05/2008, -0/+1And not one of them is legit!
It is kind of hard to keep so called "leaks" from happening when everyone and their grandmother is trying to photoshop their current iPhone to make it look like V2 so that they can start an internet rumor! - Lockhart, on 06/05/2008, -0/+1That, or he hasn't been to Digg for the past few weeks.
- tomwhughes, on 06/05/2008, -0/+1/sarcasm
- Chrino, on 06/05/2008, -0/+1Yeah, I don't know what the point of this article was. Basically it was just telling us what we don't know...
- jpinsonault, on 06/06/2008, -0/+1wrong article
- kozicka, on 06/05/2008, -0/+1"What we know for sure though is that sales of the iPhone are fading fast"
No ***** Sherlock, could this possibly be because of the recent price drops leading to no more stock of the iPhones (at least in the UK to a great extent) and the fact that people have known for months that there will be a newer version out soon.
Saying that I got suckered in and bought an 8gb iPhone in April when the price went down, still its a great peice of kit :) - misamiyo, on 06/14/2008, -0/+0maybe blackberry wrote this?..hahaha..kidding, i don't want so much expensive and hi-tech phones.
- cdawzrd, on 06/05/2008, -5/+5But because it's an Apple product, the photos is all the users care about.
- WomensUnderwear, on 06/05/2008, -1/+1apples to oranges
- G4LAXY, on 06/05/2008, -0/+0How? isn't it obvious? Because unlike some companies, Apple chooses not top blab about every move they're gonna make years before making them...
- Relikh, on 06/05/2008, -0/+0Sexual intimidation and bribe threats?
- Karmavs, on 06/05/2008, -3/+3Where by “leaked” you mean “obvious”.
- utnow, on 06/05/2008, -0/+0Need some aloe for that burn?
- HappyScrappy, on 06/05/2008, -1/+1Interesting. How can you write an article about how the new phone was kept a secret when it hasn't been?
All the info is out there. There are even pics. And its existence is also assured (which should be secret), as evidenced by this article itself.
Just plain weird. Is newsweek so determined to attach themselves to the PR extravaganza here that they'll just make up a false premise? - TheDeepFriar, on 06/05/2008, -0/+0No, that's our government
- AmnioticEntity, on 06/05/2008, -2/+1half the dupes on digg right now are about the new iphone...lame.
- shadowsurfr1, on 06/05/2008, -2/+1Because Mac products are actually good products and Apple is an extremely popular company with people.
Don't digg me down for the truth. - Twinnie, on 06/05/2008, -1/+0I hope they actually make a proper phone this time, the nice interface couldn't make up for what the iPhone was missing. With all the hype I've got a feeling we're going to be disappointed with the feature set but be distracted by some quirk they've fitted. I hope they've stolen some of the ideas Nokia had for Touch, like accelerometers that know which part of the phone your touching. They had some plan to allow you to double-tap the side of the phone while it's in your pocket and it skip or go back depending on which side you tapped, as well as tapping in the middle to pause, etc.
- burier, on 06/05/2008, -1/+0get a htc diamond instead if you cant wait.
- inactive, on 06/05/2008, -11/+10Whole Article right here:
"Jobs is really secretive and stuff. The iphone is like a mystery. It's supposed to come in June and the whole world is waiting. Oh snap, he flew a bunch too at the end of the year... that definitely means iphone tuesday."
- by Brian "No *****, captain obvious" Cauliflower
I think the bigger story is this whole who posted this lame article first drama. Biggity bury for repetitive no ***** - inactive, on 06/05/2008, -1/+0If you need a phone now and can't wait a few weeks for this release, will AT&T allow you to swap out for the upgrade and just pay the difference?
Since it's within a 30 day window and all...
Thing that sucks is I actually need to open up another line for business related matters and can't hold off until release of the new model, let alone the end of the day today. Figured I'd pick one up and hope to swap it out without having to pay for two phones.. - bjs3171, on 06/05/2008, -3/+1wha'ts the secret? it's going to be 3G, and looks exactly like every other apple product. rectangular with rounded corners. oh, but this one's gonna have a more rounded back! ooooooohhhhhh......
let me know when normal people can afford it. - chkdg8, on 06/05/2008, -8/+5Hitman Niko Bellic.
- mdude85, on 06/05/2008, -4/+1Of the thousands of companies who protect information about new product development from the public until a final release, I do not understand why this company Apple deserved a two page Newsweek story for it.
- fixyourthinking, on 06/05/2008, -8/+5It was the first time that they have had to coordinate a launch with foreign sources - international partners apparently had no sense of loyalty or commitment to integrity as Apple's American business partners do.
- amdforever, on 06/05/2008, -6/+3Send one over to the orange tribe peoples.
- chadell, on 06/05/2008, -6/+3no one has monopoly over good ideas.
- Syntaxis, on 06/05/2008, -8/+3Summary of article:
New iPhone coming soon. Details vague. No pics. Sales fading. Jobs flies a lot in company jet. Touch screen is hot. Speculation about tablet.
In other words: "Bla bla bla, bla.. and bla, but blablah blah. Yadda blabla. Sales blablabla. Bla Apple blah blabla. Yadda yaddayabla blah." -
