- hollywoodphony, on 03/30/2009, -7/+130$899 seems a little low/high. Low for Apple, but high for the specs.
- astyanax, on 03/30/2009, -11/+81Apple if you're listening, this is what the people want, even at this pricey price-point.
- Octanum, on 03/30/2009, -7/+73Apple doesn't make what you want, they make what they want, and you will like it!
- Anthem26, on 03/30/2009, -8/+51Definitely fake, the price is only $899.
- shakyguy, on 03/30/2009, -2/+44Especially if it includes a 64GB solid state drive.
- poprocksandsoda, on 03/30/2009, -7/+42Funny how these fantasy posts always hit just in time for the market to open.
- deadbaby, on 03/30/2009, -5/+38Erm... most netbooks don't?
- chongli, on 03/30/2009, -3/+33The 9400M is not a dedicated video card, it is integrated into the chipset.
- dotmax, on 03/30/2009, -1/+27For cats sake, it's a FAKE. Why'd a mediocre Russian magazine have a "hands-on" of unannounced Apple product with Russian keyboard? Russia gets Apple products months later after announcement. Plus there's absolutely no hype in the article about being the first in the world to have a "hands-on" of such unannounced Apple product. They share their experience about a trackpad and screen angles, but provide a single "promo" photo? Oh, phleease...

If this is a fake it's a damn good one, and $899 does sound like what Apple would charge for a damn netbook. That said, I have to admit this is what I've been waiting for from Apple, and I would certainly go for one. - DanielPhermous, on 03/30/2009, -0/+21The merged arrow keys is now standard on all Apple laptops and the camera is visible in the bezel if you look.
There's no point in releasing an Apple mid-tower now. Desktops are fading, especially at Apple. I'm not saying they'll vanish completely but why develop a new computer to fit in a line-up which is becoming a niche? - yokozuka, on 03/30/2009, -5/+26Said the expert who nobody asked.
- Iwantawii, on 03/30/2009, -10/+29Look at the keyboard keys, their molding. And the connected up/down arrows. Doesn't scream Apple to me. Also, no mention of an integrated camera. I wouldn't think Apple would skimp on that feature even in the lowest of lineups.
No hate, but I don't think this would even be a rough concept from anybody inside of Apple, so probably not a "leak," but cool anyways. There's a wide open consumer market right there for an Apple netbook so we'll see.
I'll throw in a mid-level tower MacPro as an open market too. If these guys really want to take over the world in a futuristic mad scientist way, they can't ignore these markets much longer. I am currently looking to build a gaming PC. I'd love to have OSX as a base computer for surfing, email, music/movies, etc., but I want to throw in my own graphics card. The MacPro is way out of my price/value comprehension. iMac, no go. Looks like I'll be NewEgging and Windows 7ing (verbs) this next box. You lose, Apple, and it's too bad because OSX is a joy for me to use the 98% of the time when I'm not gaming / playing with new hardware. - inactive, on 03/30/2009, -10/+29I wish. It looks awesome.
- doctordbx, on 03/30/2009, -3/+20So you can do video editing on your tiny underpowered processor on your tiny screen with your tiny battery life.
- doctorinfierno, on 03/30/2009, -6/+21I got my new Macbook today, and I thought I'd let you all know, g'night
- DiggzDE, on 03/30/2009, -3/+17I was thinking the same thing. Saw $899 and immediately thought, "not possible for Mac".
- handheldchimp, on 03/30/2009, -1/+12Somehow this entire netbook thing sneaked right past you, didn't it...
- thebeginning, on 03/30/2009, -3/+14Whether or not this is fake, at least the concept is getting out there and gaining popularity, and that's what matters.
I would love to have something similar to this. - ofenza, on 03/30/2009, -2/+12hey everyone, please stop saying: it's a no deal for me. I'll build my own machine with half the money. sorry apple.
they don't give a *****. people who own macs don't give a *****. - inactive, on 03/30/2009, -0/+1010 inch screen, it is a netbook.
- MightyUpsetter, on 03/30/2009, -4/+14"My girlfriend, who's Russian and speaks the language fluently" it would be pretty amazing if she didn't.
- CressCrowbits, on 03/30/2009, -0/+8To all those speaking of netbooks, it would be worth pointing out most netbooks don't cost anywhere near $899.
- dakdak900, on 03/30/2009, -0/+8no netbooks have optical
- inactive, on 03/30/2009, -1/+9So you can watch HD videos and play video games when you are traveling.
http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_geforce_9400m ... - firewalle, on 03/30/2009, -0/+8It's says Apple didn't want to spend money on advertising cause of crisis. Yeah, lol. And they decided to tell it only to some Russian magazine. :D
- inactive, on 03/30/2009, -1/+8cool story bro
- XkenX87, on 03/30/2009, -2/+9What website did you buy her from?
- Andrewe1, on 03/30/2009, -2/+9Vaio P goes almost for the same price and specs are very similar, if not lower...full sized keyboard is a winner for me tho.
- whodatis, on 03/30/2009, -1/+7Taken from the apple website about the macbook's graphic's card. "Use the new NVIDIA GeForce 9400M integrated graphics processor for great everyday performance with up to 5 hours of battery life." See the word "integrated." What are you smoking?
- Jareth86, on 03/30/2009, -0/+6I'll buy anything if its shiny and made by apple.
- Rkstar, on 03/30/2009, -2/+8My girlfriend, who's Russian and speaks the language fluently, is checking it out. She translated the articles for me, nothing unusual there. It did say it's found on the site mobi.ru, and seemed to imply that the article should be able to be found there... but we can't find it any where.
- IKORKYI, on 03/30/2009, -2/+8it appears to be even thinner than the macbook air, which means
1) it will have LESS ports
2) it will have a detachable battery (not pictured)
3) it will be more unnoticable to carry
i don't get the "thin" thing with apple. sure it looks cool, but i don't see the utility in cramming in heat sensitive electronics. I mean, when it goes under 5lbs and 1/2" thick does it really make a difference? apparently - either that or people are eating apple marketing up - which can't last forever. - ridestp, on 03/30/2009, -3/+8Wow. Quite incorrect.
- fudgebrown, on 03/30/2009, -0/+5That's because these smaller notebooks don't have optical drives...
- bobthedino, on 03/30/2009, -2/+7Would it kill Apple to try and put more than one USB port on such a thing? I know, I know, that means it would have to be an extra mm thicker, which would of course be a total disaster! :)
- sneaker98, on 03/30/2009, -2/+7I don't understand. What sets this apart from the others? What's so different about this and the Macbook Air? Is it just the price?
- bilbohicks, on 03/30/2009, -1/+5It's smaller? It's not a difficult concept to grasp.
- bilbohicks, on 03/30/2009, -3/+7@GordonFree (I would reply directly but the broken FireFox/Digg combo won't let me)
If there is a better designer than Ives working on computer hardware I'd like to see it. I've yet to see another notebook that is anywhere near the new MacBooks level of aesthetic pleasure. - mpeters13, on 03/30/2009, -1/+5Aww you beat me to it. :/ $1099 would be the pricing point.
- skellener, on 03/30/2009, -4/+8Sure - looks awesome, but $899? That's only $100 less than the white MacBook that is much better equipped. You could even buy three MSI Winds for that and they come with larger HD, 3 usb ports, a card reader and can also run OS X! No netbook from Apple. They may come out with something, but it ain't gonna be a netbook. It will be something else.
- joshuarussell, on 03/30/2009, -4/+8i like how people banish apple's macbook air, and this new concept of a macbook mini for not having a drive. yet all the craptaculous microsoft running net books dont support optical drives either.... doesnt make sense
- caveman84, on 03/30/2009, -4/+8It has Russian keyboard, must be real.
- qpid, on 03/30/2009, -1/+5Ok let's argue over a concept here:
The Macbook Air starts at $1799 which is only $200 less than a Macbook Pro that is much better equipped, yet apple makes and sells them in droves. This is not too far out of the park for Apple. - sneaker98, on 03/30/2009, -1/+5Well, considering what you're paying for Apple's "netbooks", it makes perfect sense to me that folks consider them more like a laptop.
- SneakyNinja, on 03/30/2009, -0/+4In Soviet Russia the MacBook Mini leaks you!
- dakdak900, on 03/30/2009, -4/+8though it is fake, I'd buy a netbook that looked like that
- Elranzer, on 03/30/2009, -0/+4Sony Vaio P costs $899...
- ParisSeth, on 03/30/2009, -3/+7I came to digg for the "In Soviet Russia, xxxx MacBook Mini xxxx" Joke. Where is it?
- nalguita, on 03/30/2009, -2/+5welcome to the club, we've been waiting for you.
