Despite the fact that Tom Cruise was always saving the person's life by a fraction of second, he had to wait 15 seconds while the ball followed the unnecessarily long, Mousetrap-game-like path to where he could read it.

- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Actually it's just made for people who want a decent no-nonsence computer who don't WANT to bother adding things to it. Even with all the Mac towers I've had over the years, I mostly just added more ram or bigger hard drives. Yes, I could have added a better video card (there are some available even if you don't want to believe it) or a faster processor or optical drive (yes, they're available too. Macsales.com is your friend), but the increased cost mostly didn't justify the slight performance increase.
So instead of putting more money into a machine that wouldn't really show me any increase worth bothering with, I would just save my money over the course of four to five years and buy a new Mac. It also helped that my old one was still worth about 1/3 of what I had paid for it when new. You don't have to believe me, check out used Mac prices for older gear on eBay. I don't hate it as much as some, though.. I mean, it's just a little extra white at the bottom of a screen (and that's it... that's the whole computer).. But still.. I guess with a company like Apple, making wicked looking stuff all the time, we've come to expect excellence. I can't think of another company whose design is held up to this kind of scrutiny or standard. Most tvs (besides Sony's, IMO) wouldn't hold up.. No PC cases that I've ever seen would, even luxury car companies have misses, sometimes.
