Feel free to contribute! - HigherLogic, on 02/25/2009, -1/+17"Throughout the years Opera’s competition has released versions of their browsers with 'new' features which are typically touted as innovations they did themselves, especially by Apple. Mozilla to its defense rarely (if ever to my knowledge) has done this, but Firefox fanboys typically flame others about features Firefox supposedly invented such as tabs when both Opera and Safari’s usage predates Firefox’s implementation of them."
So very true. Opera is truly an innovative browser and has brought many features to the browser world:
- Top sites (Speed Dial)
- Full history search
- Tabbed browsing
- Tabs on top
- Full page zoom
- RSS support
- RSS reader
The list goes on and on. And I'm sure many of the features that are popular in Opera right now will be taken in 2-10 years (my vote goes to built-in RSS reader, notes, Opera Link, and the true MDI), since that's pretty much how long it took other browsers to copy "standard" features.
"I don’t have a superiority complex about my browser of choice; it’s just better than everything else." - xErath, on 02/25/2009, -0/+10"Not to mention Safari is more lightweight and loads everything faster than Opera"
More lightweight ? Open 2 or 3 pages in Safari and see how much memory it uses. Now try the same in Opera .... - Forma, on 02/25/2009, -0/+9The point isn't which browser you like better (and the Opera interface can be made to take up *very* little space) the point is that Apple's marketing of Safari is riddled with blatant lies.
"first to build a search field into its user interface." hah! lies i tell you, lies!
"Safari was the first browser to move the progress indicator into the address field," more lies!
"The first browser to feature a built-in RSS reader" the lies just keep on coming.

I call that shameless. - HigherLogic, on 02/26/2009, -0/+5How about... (d) All of the above.
- blah667, on 02/26/2009, -0/+3@alpha dude: you either:
1. never seen Opera
2. regurgitate baseless Internet opinion from about 6 years ago, when the default setup may have been labeled by some people as "cluttered", wake up! It's 2k9 already!
3. You're just a troll.
Pick one. - veggen, on 03/01/2009, -0/+3@alpha88
You don't seem to get it. You (or anyone else) not liking Opera's GUI doesn't make blatant stealing of innovations right. - veggen, on 03/01/2009, -1/+3This is not the first time it happens. Opera gets neglected and it's feature's stolen relatively often. If there's one one thing in the business world that makes me vomit, it's disloyal competition.
- marol, on 03/16/2009, -0/+0Once again Apple has shown that the majority of their costumers are idiots and that their marketing strategy is idiots-based. Who else would believe that *****?
- giania, on 02/24/2009, -4/+1Someone could probably make comparisons with the Safari beta and what Songbird is (partially) trying to do too, i.e. the marriage of music player and browser.
- arestov, on 02/24/2009, -9/+2Opera has many great features but issues and worse presentable of very negate them
- alpha88, on 02/25/2009, -12/+1This guy really doesn't get it. Sure, Opera has a lot of features, and they had them before other browsers, but Opera's user interface is horrid, and takes up more screen real-estate. Not to mention Safari is more lightweight and loads everything faster than Opera, and using cover flow to search through bookmarks and history is extremely useful. This guy just sounds bitter than Safari did it better.
