- eekfuh, on 07/10/2008, -1/+7So Telenav paid off Apple so that Apple wouldn't allow any other Turn-by-Turn apps.
That's some good anti-competition. - Philbert, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3From what I read Tom Tom has an app all ready to go, but the SDK prohibits turn by turn directions. Doesn't really match up with this Telenav story though.
- aseideman, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1If it works as a good standalone turn by turn, I'd probably pay around $30. Keep in mind I don't have the need for one, so wouldn't pay $200 or $300.
- karlak24, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1Pretty cool! Not sure I would pay much for the app though...
- cityscape, on 08/01/2008, -0/+1I would pay extra if they include the voice of KITT.
- Ryan2845, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1How are they so sure it wont have a monthly cost? AT&T already has a deal with Telenav to provide GPS on their other phones (they rebrand it as AT&T Navigator) and it has a monthly cost. So I imagine it will either have a monthly fee through AT&T or cost a bunch up front through Apple in the app store.
- elenadragon, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1I've never needed a GPS, but might consider it if it is a one time app cost.
- mgxplyr, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1Oh Apple, you dirty little whore!
I thought you let no one get to your GPS!
But I guess with a little money,
even that can be tapped :(
Disappointing.
But still, dugg for turn-by-turn! - aseideman, on 07/10/2008, -1/+1GPS Nav companies must be praying they can monetize this. How much would you pay for a navigation app on your iphone?
- amneosis, on 07/10/2008, -2/+1Come on TomTom, get your arse in gear.
