- then00b, on 12/03/2008, -0/+20I discovered this app YESTERDAY, why am I reading a headline that implies it is yet to be built?

</Advertiser'sDreamSequence> - calinthematrix, on 12/04/2008, -1/+7Wow, just what I want, advertising and a retail store logo on my phone....
- IRoaChI, on 12/04/2008, -0/+5any one of the many websites that are out there.
- Norweed, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4What about the Amazon iPhone app. That lets you take pictures of items and it'll find them for you on Amazon.com automatically. Not that's an app.

- santaliqueur, on 12/04/2008, -2/+5From who?
- nhowe, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3the 153 "people" and counting who got this story to the front page.
- fitzfan, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3Audi has a decent racing game app.
- danieldantastic, on 12/04/2008, -1/+4Wow, totally retarded app and incorrect headline.
- aboxofjosh, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3This sounds like complete junk.
- everett3, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3It was written by a ***** moron, note "1" being a word. We have 197 (at time of posting) morons here who thought this was newsworthy.
- Sandtiger, on 12/04/2008, -1/+3Umm ok and the point is?? I think these guys are going to have to work a lot harder to get people to spend $$ this christmas season.
- tacojohn48, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2Never underestimate the stupidity of the average consumer.
- Diggnabbit, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1"One of the first brands?" There are PLENTY of brands that already have iPhone apps.
- MrTito, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1Tired of doing all that hard thinking during the holiday season? Just download our app to your iPhone and we'll recommend some great gift ideas that are quick and convenient*. That's our way of making the holidays easier!
*conveniently has a high profit margin for our company. Just buy it you mindless drone. - tacojohn48, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1Pretty much all websites are difficult to use for the vision-impaired. I believe Target was chosen to attack because they are seen as a more progressive company that should be on top of this sort of thing.
- nhowe, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1That sounds cooler.
i wonder when the Sim City app will come out... although everything after sim city 4 has sucked so i guess i should get excited! - therayven, on 12/04/2008, -1/+2Buried for the schizophrenic grammar in the headline. "Target to be One of the First Brands to Build an iPhone App" is far more appropriate.
- tacojohn48, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1MrTito - sorry I misunderstood you there. That does make sense, and I was hoping you wouldn't notice the $63.4B in revenue.
- MrTito, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1I do understand the slim margins in retail. That's my point. They aren't recommending "great" gift ideas, they're creating a channel to push higher margin products onto consumers. I would doubt there's any real thought about gift ideas involved here.
As far as numbers, I'm seeing a 4.5% profit margin on $63.4B in revenue for 2008. That's a healthy profit for retail.
http://money.cnn.com/quote/snapshot/snapshot.html? ... - tacojohn48, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1You need to understand that retailers generally make a net profit of 5%. In fact last quarter Target had a net profit margin of 2.44%. Also my English teachers would cry if they saw that I ended sentences with "%" when I should have spelled it out.
- cgibbo, on 12/04/2008, -2/+21
- pHr34kY, on 12/04/2008, -1/+1...and it will probably have compatibility issues for the vision-impaired.
ZING! - johnny81, on 02/13/2009, -0/+0yeah there are already alot of app out there.

http://www.linkbuilderz.com/ - oep4, on 12/04/2008, -1/+1sounds interesting to me
- blitzkriegpunk, on 12/04/2008, -1/+1Boring app, but novel idea.
- tacojohn48, on 12/04/2008, -1/+1Really, I have heard that Black Friday sales were up 3% over last year. My store, Target 1250, has been smashing our sales forecasts. Some days we made 125% of our sales estimate. I believe that people who have more information on a company wide basis are buying the stock on this type of news. The stock is up 20% in the last two days with no news stories to drive it. http://finance.google.com/finance?chdnp=1&chdd ...
