- sockpuppets, on 10/11/2007, -7/+111I received an advance copy of his speech in an unmarked envelope this afternoon, it was slipped under my door.
It reads: "Ladies and gentlemen, fellow shareholders.... Cha-ching!!" - duddy, on 10/11/2007, -35/+100He's probably going to announce that the iPhone launch is being scrubbed and that Microsoft will be taking over Apple Friday.
- theonlyvlad, on 10/11/2007, -12/+64This just in. In 2 days Steve Jobs plans to brush his teeth.
Trusted sources report we're not allowed to watch. - xerus, on 10/11/2007, -30/+81"Attention. You are all tools. Good day."
- Iwantawii, on 10/11/2007, -7/+52"Boom"
- np374, on 10/11/2007, -24/+60Breaking News: Steve jobs is going to take a ***** 10am tomorrow morning, spectators are saying it'll be solid and brown. What will he do next?
I don't care if I get dugg down. - anagoge, on 10/11/2007, -8/+39Zune came out months ago.

- Bitgod, on 10/11/2007, -13/+31Ok, this is total BS now. I'm not anti-Apple, I use their products, I own some products, but you Apple freaks piss yourself over anything. You're right, this is a "rare company speech". He hasn't done this since...well the last time he did it. He does it about once a year, maybe even twice. He's not freakin Howard Hughes. Dugg down FOR ME TO POOP ON
- bardamuclichy, on 10/11/2007, -2/+19You guys apparently havn't viewed the 'pc guy' doing Jobs video.
- Zorn, on 10/11/2007, -3/+17Sleeper Cylon activation.
- mulletman13, on 10/11/2007, -5/+16Highly doubtful that they'd give a free iPhone to all employees out there... I mean they did it when the original iPod came out, but there were... 10 retail stores back then vs. 184 now. Also iPods didnt require a plan, switching of service etc. Granted if they did give an iPhone to all employees, that would be ridiculously generous, but would easily cost a couple million dollars the company doesn't need to worry about.
- lumbergh, on 10/11/2007, -5/+15"I want to thank everyone for their hard work in making this deadline. Except for those guys struggling with the API for third-party apps that we had to push back for now and substitute with that crappy Plan B with the web-based apps. Just kidding."
- Arkonnan, on 10/11/2007, -5/+15If his holiness sees his shadow, does that mean we have to deal with six more weeks of this *****? Seriously, put your dick back in your pants. It's just a ***** phone, not the second coming of Christ.
- wonderchemist, on 10/11/2007, -5/+15For today,we celebrate the first glorious anniversary
of the Information Purification Directive!
We have created, for the first time in all history,
a garden of pure ideology, where each worker may bloom,
secure from the pests of contradictory and confusing truths.
Our Unification of Thought
is a more powerful weapon
than any fleet or army on Earth.
We are one people!
With one will!
One resolve!
One cause!
Our enemies shall talk themselves to death!
And we will bury them with their own confusion!
We shall prevail!! - svenathon, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10Am I the only person who could care less that Jobs is going to speak to his company on the day an anticipated product is coming out?
- angrycat, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Reality distortion field: ACTIVATE
- Derrekito, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9The iRack? iRan?
- addiggt, on 07/06/2009, -11/+18No, that would be terrible :|
- turpenine, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10ZFS works fine in my version of leopard.
- j0nheck, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10I could see Steve announcing his retirement.
- Torv, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Apple is toast, Steve is leaving the company
- ogun7, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9It's true my friends that work at 5th Avenue are getting their free iPhone on Friday. Apple gives all new employees iPods anyway
- Flytrap, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Dude, I think you are the one that's missing it... That is just the very point that Steve Jobs and his team are proving time and again; it IS a life style thing.
Sure, Apple products are often over hyped, and starry eyed tech journalists tend to gloss over the Apple product short falls; but one thing that you can't take away from Steve Jobsy and his merry men is that he has often succeeded in pushing the tech way back to a point where its almost invisible and a layering slick human-machine user interface through which to access that technology, while still making people using Apple products feel like they're tech savvy.
That's why my dad, who has struggled with 3 different brand MP3 players, 2 digital cameras and his latest "tech toy" a Sony DVD Camcorder, is so comfortable with his iPod. Finally something that makes him feel tech savvy that he can use... - unloud, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Jealous much?
- tdowling, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Not that it really matters, but it's probably best to work that out with the actual cost to Apple. I'm sure that the $499 iPhone costs a bit less than $499 to produce.
- ThreeDee912, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Who thought of "iDay"?
- eatrains, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6That's exactly what I thought when I read the headline. As an Apple shareholder, that's scary.
- Vestrit, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6The speeches aren't that rare. Why do people care about this again? If you don't work there I'm not sure how anything he says at this speech (which according to the email only employees will hear) could be relevant to people who aren't employees. It's not like he hasn't held events for the "media" when he has something to tell them...
- crazeeschmuck08, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4It looks bad for the company to have a bunch of employees walking around with some piece of ***** flip phone when they could have an iPhone. It shows lack of support in the company. AT&T probably wouldn't mind it either--plenty of money and marketing for them too. That being said, I still don't think we'll get iPhones for free :(
- Me1000, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4then why bother clicking the link,
or posting for that matter - Vorsic, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Head Shot
- KibibyteBrain, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I'm not a marketing monkey, but thats about how much a normal tv ad costs during prime time. for a week or two. Having a ton of iPhones out there could be good marketing, enough to make this worth it. Also, how will Apple employees be able to support this without having used it quite a bit? The genius bar mac users have a tought enought time resolving more obscure issues as it is. So I could see them doing this, although it is unlikely.
- xtraa, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Every employee gets an iPhone Nano.

- wildsnake, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7Paris Hilton bought Apple
- wounded625, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3in 2 days?
i would hope he did it at least 3 times a day. - stockjones, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3My dear Isheep.....
- Audacitor, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4That is insanely clever, using the background voice over from the 1984 commercial.
I still love Apple though... - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Not going to happen.
"Apple gives all new employees iPods anyway"
*****.
How about giving the damned shareholders DIVIDENDS? - mal1964, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3I say green also
- hellotyler, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3I bet it's going to be free iPhones for everybody day. Would be a really good way to boost their popularity.
- groverblue, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Funniest comment I read today. hehe.
- LeeSoong, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Arkonnan - You have a long distance call,
'J.C.' someone? And the guy sounds really angry... - getouttamyfog, on 10/11/2007, -6/+8Trusted sources also say Steve Jobs sometimes scratches his balls.
- chadadams, on 10/11/2007, -12/+14From the desk of Jobs:
"My Loyal Minions, -
This is the day you have been trained for... In two hours you will be receiving phone calls, emails, and general complaints about the Apple iPhone. Now we must prepare for in also two I hours I will announce the new generation widescreen 120 GB iPod, and iTunes 8. Be ready and be swift - for we go to war...
That is all" - Billions, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3So, if Apple makes it and it eventually gets old, it's called "planned obsolescence..." But when you decide you need a new video card in your Windows-box 6 months later, that's called an "upgrade...." And stop assuming Mac people are "ignorant." Most of the Mac people I know are very "savvy" with computers and software... and it's why they opt for Macs.
- LeeSoong, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Bad math... And it wouldn't be generous as a promotional product ( Retail guys could get an iPhone with Apple phone number. Stop working at the Apple store and you have to buy it or give it back.)
