- greenrider, on 10/12/2007, -3/+90Funny to see that even his jokes (ordering 4,000 lattes) are scripted.
As effortless as he seems, he still needs a ton of preparation, just like everybody else...- swansong24, on 10/12/2007, -1/+43Yea, he makes it look easier than it is.
- fugimax, on 10/12/2007, -3/+43Making it look spontaneous is arguably harder than being spontaneous. And certainly has much more predictable results.
- vudicarus, on 10/12/2007, -46/+2the graphic is too small and blurry . i don't see any mention about the starbucks prank
- ersnyder, on 10/12/2007, -12/+41"the graphic is too small and blurry . i don't see any mention about the starbucks prank"
How about you try clicking on the image to make it bigger. You know, with that thing next to your keyboard called a "mouse." - valis, on 10/12/2007, -21/+4Just a sprawling and, mostly, infomercial. I was severely disappointed. What was he doing? Preaching to his investors?
I was hoping for more geek coolness and a lot less commercial. Silly me. - backrash, on 10/12/2007, -1/+38http://www.spymac.com/upload/2007/01/11/LJRzUHAdOF.jpg
- tutivlahos, on 10/12/2007, -22/+4He's got 3 iphones.
Afraid of a crash Mr. Jobs? - Reziarfg, on 10/12/2007, -3/+26On the same note, do you think his joke on Woz was scripted when they were having technical difficulties with the clicker? I'd say no, but you never know.
- belfastbiker, on 10/12/2007, -12/+6Of COURSE his jokes are scripted!
Why would they not be, why would anyone seriously think they weren't? - avsa, on 10/12/2007, -12/+5"How about you try clicking on the image to make it bigger. You know, with that thing next to your keyboard called a mouse."
you tell me how. That is a bad designed website. I click on the picture to see it larger and it appears a damn menu! Is it just me or nothing happens when you click view? - blogger123, on 10/12/2007, -2/+32Steve Jobs is the best Keynote speaker ever. He makes it look so effortless that you just fall in awe.
- OnlyShawn, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4@avsa....popup blocker, dude.
- monkeybutler, on 10/12/2007, -7/+6I'm surprised so many people on Apple forums believed the 4000latte thing was unscripted.
Being able to sucker an audience is what makes a good showman. Steve is definitely one of the best and thats why his following can be convinced to buy into anything. But lets be real, to believe these things are anything more than a sales pitch is silly. From his stepped up enthusiasm to the "unscripted" phone call to him getting choked up, all of it was for show and served a purpose. - inkswamp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4> On the same note, do you think his joke on Woz was scripted
> when they were having technical difficulties with the clicker?
> I'd say no, but you never know.
Probably. When Pink Floyd performed The Wall live in 1980, it was such a technically demanding show (for that era) that they put in place all kinds of plans in case something went wrong. The most difficult part was reaching the end of the first half of the album when the buildling of the on-stage wall was supposed to be finished. They put in place a chunk of improv music they played right before the last song just in case the wall building was behind at that point. (If you listen to the live album of The Wall they released a few years ago, you can hear it.)
Likewise, I bet the Woz story was probably on a list of fall back plans to keep things going in the event of technical difficulties. So, it was planned, albeit maybe not scripted per se.
- gamename14, on 10/12/2007, -2/+78I laughed when I saw the fine publishing job done on his notes.... In my head I was expecting wrinkled paper with scribble all over it ( I guess I forgot who we were talking about )
- zenatek, on 10/12/2007, -3/+45The way the notes are written and bound is very Steve Jobs.
- sorrow, on 10/12/2007, -23/+2You laughed when you saw his notes... i laughed, and had a nearly overwhelming urge to slap the person who wrote the first comment about the picture: your prophets holy book? stfu
- bSimms, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2When the titled said "close up" I was thinking some innovative little paper folding... not a whole book haha.
- fr0z3nph03n1x, on 10/12/2007, -51/+4I HAVE to do it.
1) Fancy presentation notes.
2) ???
3) Profit!- biff198, on 10/12/2007, -17/+35Well, if you HAVE to do that, I guess I HAVE to do this...
<reluctantly>
*sigh...* will it blend.....
ugh... - PimpinOnWelfare, on 10/12/2007, -7/+33Oh god, now I HAVE to do it.
I for one, welcome our latte drinking overlord. - biff198, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14There, see my above post? It's done! No one else has to post a "Will it blend" comment.
- 0101010, on 10/12/2007, -20/+1Will it blend?
- sakuraz, on 10/12/2007, -13/+2Does that notebind run linux?
There, you happy? :( - Tupster, on 10/12/2007, -4/+31In Soviet Russia, notes blend you!
- chanc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11@biff198
That is the only "Will it blend" comment i've ever dugg up :p - FluffyArmada, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You ignorant clod! I can't make cliché slashdot comments!
- biff198, on 10/12/2007, -17/+35Well, if you HAVE to do that, I guess I HAVE to do this...
- vudicarus, on 10/12/2007, -19/+2why was he using that so-last-century technology of print?
- ersnyder, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3Myriad Apple is the official Apple font...are you surprised?!
- tnoy, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5Because a tablet pc would be the next best thing, and Jobs doesnt want to admit that a tablet would make a viable product.
- clickmyface, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Actually it's the consumers who have said its not a viable product. How so? By not buying them.
The Apple Design books are full of Apple R&D tablets.
Anyway, you'll see one from Apple eventually. You can bet the R&D from the 80s has evolved into recent years.
- mikev, on 10/12/2007, -4/+22It's...the...bible!
- biff198, on 10/12/2007, -3/+60And the Lord said unto Moses, "Thou shalt bring unto them 4000 lattes to go..."
- ersnyder, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10That pretty much shows that some of the media coverage claiming they were one of the few media outlets who got an hour test drive with one of the only TWO iPHONES in existence was a false statement. There are three right there on the podium. One primary, two back-ups. Stupid sensationalist media.
- ectocooler, on 10/12/2007, -13/+1those are clearly mockups, the screens arent even real.
- joshuakuhn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, since he hadn't announced the iPhone yet then the two in the glass cases weren't on display yet... That accounts for the 3 he said were in existence...
- Dithre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23Notice how even the sections are color coded correctly with dividers. Yellow for iPod, Green for Phone, Blue for Internet...
- nofxjunkee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Red for? ...
- mezzman, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1I never saw him flip the pages at all during the keynote, could this be a fake?
- mrpippy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6i doubt it--at one point in the keynote video stream, the over-the-shoulder cam shows the corner of that book, and it has the CAMERA note on it--i'm curious what that means, since he didn't do jack with the iphone's camera.
- vagarach, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Most likely the camera placed so audience could see him using the iphone (as in "position self and hand so camera is effective in capture"), and I did notice him flipping the pages of his notes, it is quite clearly shown in the video on apple.com
- spvaland, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1I think his doing Jack with the iPhone camera would not have worked for a lot of the family-minded viewers out there.
- babymitch, on 10/12/2007, -44/+6Enough of the damn keynote.
*****.- spvaland, on 10/12/2007, -5/+42I didn't know Bill Gates was on Digg.
- spvaland, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2I wonder where in there it said to make an awkward reference to Board of Directors members getting things for free.
- clickmyface, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Steve has always used notes for his demo portions. And if the note prints are not a feature in Keynote (the OS X application) right now, there is a chance that it will be in the next release. If you remember, Steve used the keynote app for a long time before it went on sale.
He got a new remote, too. This one is a bit smaller than the old one. I have always tried to figure out what remote he used because it seemed like the perfect size. The one he has now is going toward too small for me. The one Bill Gates used at CES was defintely on the "way too small" size.- sfacets, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3The new one F*ed up during the keynote... not good.
- sfacets, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3The new one F*ed up during the keynote... not good.
- chazzbro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21I don't even own a Mac anymore...and the two hours I spend every year watching Jobs act as The Wizard every year is still a complete delight for me. The guy and his company...sheer marketing genius.
- ModernGeek, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4What kind of mac did you have before?
- wastern, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7ugg...what is spymac doing now. yet another redesign, what is this 3 site, with 3 different designs and goals in a year. Its almost said to watch. They had a great thing going with the Mac community, then they had to try to expand it and jump on every bandwagon that came along. I'm get sick just open up the page now, its such a cluster *****
- foxymcfox, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2...and a rip off of the design from Youtube v.1 . If you are going to redesign something, take the time to make it new, original, and functional for your purposes. This is none of the above.
- ElBob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19If anyone is interested I made a template for Pages that is similar to this booklet. I plan to use it for all my presentations from now on, its such a good idea! The zip file contains both the template and the required font, just select all the files in the Myriad Apple folder and hit Command-O to install them on your system.
http://rapidshare.com/files/11494708/Keynote_Booklet.zip.html- jarinudom, on 03/31/2008, -1/+3Hey that is pretty handy, thanks :)
I put it in ~/Library/Application Support/iWork/Pages/Templates/Keynote Booklet/ for great justice - gavintlgold, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hey, I just got Myriad for free... Always wanted that font! Thanks.
I don't have Keynote (yet) but that font is awesome. Tried to find it online, turns out it costs money... - ElBob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1gavintlgold: Thats odd, I found it for free.
- gavintlgold, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't know, I think I had it already anyway... but I remember looking and finding this page:
http://www.linotype.com/1257/myriad-family.html
Oh, and thanks for NOT posting some post like "OMG you are STUPID, it's FREE. IDIOT". It's nice to have some manners on Digg.
- jarinudom, on 03/31/2008, -1/+3Hey that is pretty handy, thanks :)
- benzoenator, on 10/12/2007, -8/+0I was really disappointed, I thought that Starbucks plug was really thought out. And now I find that they were all planned. I guess he isn't the spontaneous thinker we all thought he was.
- OnlyShawn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6spontaneous speaker:
exhibit a- Michael Richards.
move along.

- Jamie314, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Anyone else think the iPhones in that picture looked pretty beat up around the edges?
- idean360, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7here's another shot of his notes,
http://www.spymac.com/details/?1793778- jasonhe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In full res:

- jasonhe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In full res:
- WKStone, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4did anyone notice the thickness of the iphone in that picture? it's looks thicker toward the middle than it is at the top.
- OnlyShawn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9because of the 'digital out' stuff to transmit to the screen?
- jflint, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yeah, they have that special card in them so that they can output to the projector. I think he mentioned that before he started using them.
- ramsinks.com, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I see 3 iphones... i think..
Incase one dies.- CaseyTokyo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah, I think he usually oly has one backup, so i guess he really wanted to make sure the iPhone won't crash during his keynote
- gmarks, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4It is amazing how from those notes he can get a 2 hour keynote to be almost perfect. The only real big mistake in the keynote is he said 2006 instead of 2007 once. Steve is amazing.
- OnlyShawn, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0and "billion" instead of "million" (which was on the screen) for, i believe, cingular's subscriber base.
- fahrvergnuugen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8@OnlyShawn "and "billion" instead of "million" (which was on the screen) for, i believe, cingular's subscriber base."
Listen to it again. He showed 250 Million and said "a quarter of a billion" - OnlyShawn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1doh!
- AceTracer, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1A quarter of a billion is 250 million, subgenius.
- michael.calfee, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3I don't know. This is kinda like seeing a band play in New York, and the front man says, "New York is always our favorite tour stop!" And then you catch the Boston show: "Boston is always our favorite tour stop!" The keynote kind of loses some magic when you can see everything - right down to the prank call conversation with Starbucks - is scripted.
- vintechsys, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2I love how Mr. Jobs talks about giving the consumer what they want, but it is he who decides what we want because we are all too stupid to know by ourselves.
The iphone is a cool product but it runs on very closed platform. I will just wait until Microsoft copies it and get that version. - joshuakuhn, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2The notes are more for the behind the scenes people running the screen, cameras, etc...
- Rase, on 10/12/2007, -13/+0www.ghforum.net 10/10 for this forum, updates on every console & games.
- joshuakuhn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Is digg spam the new "in thing"?
- ggko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So how long before one of these leak out and turn up on eBay? I don't necessarily mean before the keynote is delivered, rather as Apple related memorabilia. Apple collectors probably just added those notebooks to their list of things to find. Surely they must print more than one copy in case it's misplaced. Would Apple destroy them after?
- idean360, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1they probably keep them in storage under lock, or in the campus on display...
- DelMonte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is the only time I can say that spymac.com lives up to its name.
- BWhaler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Lordee.
Even Steve's notes are utterly beautiful. - Number17, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.duggmirror.com
