- Kericr, on 10/10/2007, -21/+133Steve Jobs could perform ritual sacrafices on kittens, and it wouldn't affect his image amongst the Mac loyalists, as long as he was doing it on the new iAltar.
- wonderchemist, on 10/10/2007, -1/+64Since it isn't clear from the summary or article who called Steve to do what...
From Reuters: Steve Jobs was asked by U.S. securities regulators to give a deposition... The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission subpoenaed Jobs for its case against former Apple general counsel Nancy Heinen. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+42Where can I buy this iAltar you speak of?
- joncannon, on 10/10/2007, -2/+39I'm thinking it'll be both.
- crazihouse, on 10/10/2007, -1/+34Want to sacrifice your little gerbil instead? Perhaps that cute mouse you have in a cage? Do it with the new iAltar nano.
- chrisutley, on 10/10/2007, -8/+39Nothing more pathetic than people submitting a Digg with a snarky comment when they obviously haven't even read the story they are linking to.
- leontes, on 10/10/2007, -6/+37What the title and the descriptions doesn't make clear: Jobs is not the subject of any investigation, he is giving testimony to clarify how it went down, not whether what went down implicates him in any way.
- JeffH, on 10/10/2007, -22/+51Why was the fanboy comment put into the description? It really didn't need to be there at all.
- ECas123, on 10/10/2007, -0/+28Then after 3 versions of the iAltar we come out with the iAltar Classic!
- techweenie1, on 10/10/2007, -6/+24Actually despite loving Mac OS X and some of Apple's Products, I think Steve Jobs is an arrogant douche bag...but then again I'm not a huge people person.
- Ramble, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13But is it also an internet communications device?
- sohosid, on 10/10/2007, -3/+15 Never ceases to amaze me the passion that exists on both sides of the Apple fence. If you like Apple products, then you are branded a 'fanboy'. If you don't like Apple products, then you are a Mac hater, akin to the devil.
Who ***** cares?
If you like what Apple makes, buy it. If you don't...then buy something else.
Steve Jobs, by anyones standards, has done an amazing job of taking Apple from minor player in the pc market, to global giant in the new media market. They also still make computers you know, good ones at that (yes, I like Apple, *****, now I'm a fanboy eh?)
But I'll still never get why some people must engage in such emotion...I guess it's nice. No-one gets all high and mighty or throws toys out the pram when talking about Dell now, do they? - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -9/+21Nah, apple fanboys are vane enough already without giving them any mirrors.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -12/+22Hit home a little hard?
- gcnaddict, on 10/10/2007, -4/+13Buried for what? I understand that the Bury function doesnt need a reason now but they don't have "Bury as truthful" listed as an option for a *reason*.
Where in the story or the digg submission does it indicate that anyone ever said that a subpoena *is* a conviction? - gcnaddict, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11Say that to the people who spam entire macintorgasm articles while dishing it out to those who still use Windows or Linux.
- wafflez, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11ahah but I think what he means is that if Gates or Ballmer were in the same position, even if they weren't involved, every linux and apple lover would be all over this and call them evil for doing nothing.
Deny as you wish, but hypothesize for a moment first please =3 - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Not before the iAlter flea! http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6979065094 ...
- Firehed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Was that supposed to be a haiku?
That's failure to achieve 5-7-5 if I've ever seen it. - dougbarrett, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10Wasn't this issue already dealt with a few months back?
- pintomp3, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8but you have to sacrifice kittens to keep the mighty mouse happy.
- ZackS, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6What will damage his image with the Apple faithful is his recent statement against hacking the iPhone, refusal to release and SDK, deliberately feature-crippling the iPod Touch's firmware, and the company's unwillingness to stand up for consumer rights against the RIAA on the issue of ringtone creation.
I could care less about backdated whatsits. Stop ***** crippling your own products in response to industry pressure. This goes all the way back to that awesome feature you added in iTunes 4 and have been crippling and crippling miserably ever since. I'll leave it as an exercise to the reader to find out what I'm talking about here (you might know already if you're a real Apple fan). - Darcy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6It looks like half the people on Digg have already decided he's guilty. I propose we scrap the Court's altogether and just let the digg commenter's decide the fate of the accused, it's much fairer that way.
- GawtMilk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5@Audacitor
That means that > If Apple cures cancer > We won't find out about it.
Common sense > Don't digg useless information > Better for everybody. - starmanjones, on 10/10/2007, -5/+10jobs isn't really involved. so the better question is why did you make it sound like jobs was subpena'd like he had done something wrong?
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Dugg you up for common sense.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Couldn't have said it better myself...
- geminitojanus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Yeah, Jobs was cleared, but not everyone in the company was so lucky. He's being Subpoenaed to testify those other people (they've only mentioned one name, but that doesn't mean there aren't more).
The whole backdating issue is going to take years and years to clear up, not just for Apple but for a large part of Si Valley. - Kyle660, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7Sorry, I guess I was the only person who thought the accompanying comment had a bit of a spin to it.
- Vich, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6There are plenty of reasons, the most appropriate for this situation being the fact that the front page is littered with way too many apple stories way too often.
If fanboys aren't to blame, who is?
I still digg apple stories if I find them interesting, but come, on most of them aren't anything special. - Tetraca, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4"Hey, Leader Steve, I met my Sacrifice quota for today!"
- ShrimpCrackers, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4But in the US legal system you cannot subpoena without some evidence. This means the prosecution thinks they've got reasonable evidence that Steve Jobs might have some information on some wrong-doing. Sure it doesn't mean Steve Jobs is going to jail, etc etc, but it does mean that he may know something that went on. No so clean...
- Murdats, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4what about those of us who use feeds or google/ig modules?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6"A subpeona isn't a conviction, *****."
But it IS issued where there is suspicion of wrongdoing or obstruction. And we all know that Jobs has been borderline several times in the past. - cfulp, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Why would I care if he has to testify in a case about a former apple employee. How does that effect me?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3What was his approach? I don't recall...
- Vermifax, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3It's "vain", Dumb-ass.
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Murdata,
Just ignore those stories then. No one is holding a gun to your head forcing you to go into posts and read/make comments. You do have free will. - cfulp, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You should try reading the article p51d007..
- lengau, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3@MacParrot - I'm interested in quite a few of the stories in the Apple section, because I'm interested in what Apple's doing. However, there are more and more that I'm not interested in.
The type of story that interests me:
iPhone Released
Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard Released
Summary of latest Mac conference
Ones that don't interest me:
OMFG DIGG THIS UP IF U LUV APPLE 2!!!!!!1 - unmarked, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Hello, this is about Nancy Heinen. Go ahead and do the amazing act of clicking on the link and reading for a few seconds. You'll find it does wonders!
- jrbrewin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3i did. it said this.
"SEC lawyers are claiming that Heinen and former Apple Chief Financial Officer Fred Anderson backdated more than $20 million in stock options in 2001 for Jobsy, themselves, and other executives"
how can you read that and not read that jobs was involved? Maybe this will help...
"Anderson -- who's already paid $3.5 million in fines -- claims he was given permission by Jobs himself to backdate the options"
is that clear enough? word came from the big smug man himself, and he also got some of the spoils. maybe next time YOU should RTFA. - Vermifax, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I Dugg you up for "orgiastic vigor".
I don't think I've ever heard that in my 38 years. - Phoenixus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You win sir...you win. lol. Don't forget the iKnife! It talks to you while you perform the ritual. Even has Blood Flow!
- jrbrewin, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4wouldn't be such a bad thing if steve donated some of that 20mil to some worth while causes, and i'm not talking about chinese slave labour to make him yet more turtlenecks.
- drobati, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3This is exactly how I feel.
For example, yesterday I went to class. Sat down and took out my macbook, which prompted some ***** sitting a few seats over to try and bait me into a fight.
Started calling the mac primitive and blah blah blah. I looked at him and frowned.
Why do people want to fight when there are much more important things to accomplish. - exomni, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3It amazes me to see so many dumbasses in so few DIGG comments.
Steve is being subpoenaed to help testify against NANCY HEINEN. He's not being charged with JACK *****, and as for the matter with Heinen, Steve was found innocent of any wrongdoing.
Burried for innacuracy. Why the hell would this effect Steve Job's image? (Apples, maybe) - MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2If Jobs did this and it can be proven, then yes he should be punished. If he did this and the people involved can't prove, then they are idiots for not protecting themselves. Since they claim to be smart people, this throws much of what they say into question. The only thing that ties Jobs to this (and this is what convinces me the Jobs DID have a hand in it) was that he benefitted financially.
- bagelpirate, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3rtfa
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Looking at the word
funny spelling subpoenaed
makes my Mac brain hurt.
