- Kingoftherings, on 01/08/2009, -5/+84He has more money than any of us, and probably all of us combined. Buried for inaccuracy.
- awolfe91, on 01/08/2009, -4/+73Bonuses, people, bonuses.
Inaccurate. Title should say: "Steve Jobs' Salary Less Then Yours" - inactive, on 01/08/2009, -2/+54Uh, Steve was paid 7.6 Billion when he sold Pixar to Disney. I don't think he's going to have any cash problems anytime soon.
- Sloi, on 01/08/2009, -1/+35His "salary" is irrelevant.
As if the ***** CEO of Apple lives in poverty. - BillDauterive, on 01/08/2009, -5/+30Don't you hate it when there aren't any good pictures to choose from for an article.
- oriondr, on 01/08/2009, -2/+21Not bonuses, stock and investments. He still makes a *****-ton more than all of us here per year.
- partysan, on 01/08/2009, -1/+18That's why he's so slim. He's starving.
- gl77, on 01/08/2009, -0/+13Another CEO who gets $1.00 per year salary is John Mackey of Whole Foods Market. He released a statement in 2007 saying that he had reached a time in his life where he felt as though he had enough money. i think all of the profits from his stock options go to charity as well.
- KloroFormd, on 01/08/2009, -2/+13I don't get paid salary. Still inaccurate.
- sexybobo, on 01/08/2009, -1/+12is it still considered selling when the sold company gets 50% control over the buying company?
- abw1987, on 01/08/2009, -1/+11"Steve Jobs Makes Less Per Year Than You Do"
Not really, though. - quomen, on 01/08/2009, -0/+9Yeah.. His securities portfolio easily generates more than most of us.
- Phatlip012, on 01/08/2009, -2/+10No he doesn't. You guys ever hear of stock? Steve is rich as *****.
- IRAcarbombs, on 01/08/2009, -1/+9Yeah he made $1 but he also lost half a billion dollars in personal holdings in the company .... still rich though
- TSK05, on 01/08/2009, -2/+10Why does this ***** reach the front page every few months? We all know it's *****, regardless of which SEO we're talking about.
- BrendanSheehan, on 01/08/2009, -2/+10In a word; bollox.
- deaconyermouf, on 01/08/2009, -1/+8This is crazy how all this is happening while Lauren's gone.
- benologist, on 01/08/2009, -5/+12He has more money than most people in the world combined. Buried because unlike most billionaires he gives nothing back.
- HappyScrappy, on 01/08/2009, -2/+9No he doesn't.
- inactive, on 01/08/2009, -1/+7it's ***** rich is what it is
- aimhelix, on 01/08/2009, -1/+7Misleading title of '09.
- roxgod666, on 01/08/2009, -1/+7*than
- ncapone, on 01/08/2009, -1/+6It's not helping you enough.
- omjeremy, on 01/08/2009, -0/+4hrm... I normally can spell just fine.
- h3110, on 01/08/2009, -1/+5Lots of CEOs do this. It's to reduce the taxes they pay. Even Google CEOs did this.Has nothing to do with the person being generous.
- Llanowar, on 01/08/2009, -1/+4I wish I could lose half a billion.
- Tomboys, on 01/08/2009, -2/+5I hate it.
- Llanowar, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3I like people like that.
Because, honestly, what can you spend your money on after you reach a certain amount?
Many rich people will just spend it on useless crap simply because they have more money than they can rationally spend. - tmalloy, on 01/08/2009, -2/+5If you had RTFA you would have seen that he did not, in fact, receive any bonuses.
"Because Jobs didn't get a bonus or any of those other forms of compensation in 2008, his total pay is the same as the $1 salary the company lists in the summary compensation table of the proxy statement filed with the SEC."
Yes he is enormously wealthy, but it is because of his stock holdings, not because of bonuses from apple. - BradleyNowell1, on 01/08/2009, -1/+4does a multi-billionaire really need a bigger salary than me?
- covertbadger, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3Obviously his income is mostly from options, not salary. What I don't get, however, is how comes Apple aren't breaching minimum wage laws? If minimum wage covers salary only (not bonuses, options and other perks) surely Jobs would have to be paid at least $5 or so per hour?
- mrhalogod, on 01/08/2009, -0/+2No he doesn't --- my MacBook put me $1700 in the red...
- Kingoftherings, on 01/09/2009, -0/+2He makes more income from investing than any of us do. Most CEO's salary is small compared to their stock options.
- fjc8, on 01/08/2009, -1/+3Yeah? Well Apple's falling stock price whacked half a thousand off my personal holdings in the company!
- ScottyDelicious, on 01/08/2009, -0/+2Yeah, but I think he was paid in stock options, making him the biggest private shareholder in the Disney corporation at 7%.
- BESTenemy, on 01/08/2009, -1/+3That is why taxing the rich doesn't amount to anything. Anyone that's rich enough to afford an accountant can find plenty of ways to escape taxation. CEO's have a good habit of taking stock options instead of salaries and then processing them further to pay less than the middle class guy does, bracket-wise.
- TrancePhreak, on 01/08/2009, -1/+3I don't get stock options you insensitive clod!
- stuffradio, on 01/08/2009, -1/+3Why? His avatar is a picture of the character portrayed by the name. Bill Dauterive (Don't know if that is actually how it is spelled though) is a character from King of the Hill.
- inactive, on 01/08/2009, -1/+3Is English your 5th language or something? Nobody said you should average the salary over 20 years or that Jobs isn't wealthy. Read the title again, this time with some basic grammar knowledge.
- stark222000, on 01/08/2009, -1/+3best comment today. thank you ncapone
- vanjab, on 01/08/2009, -0/+2Doesn't someone have to make a complaint first though? Since his wealth is in stock options in Apple, I doubt he'd make a sound about it..
- TimTheSuperGuy, on 01/08/2009, -0/+2This is the funniest comment I have ever read on Digg.
Kudos - inactive, on 01/08/2009, -0/+2Legalize it?
- squelart, on 01/08/2009, -1/+3Inaccurate: I made $1 AU last year, that's less than $1 US.
- rccola71, on 01/08/2009, -0/+2No he doesn't, I dont have a job.
- ChromaVita, on 01/08/2009, -0/+2You overestimate how much money I make per year...
- shaitanx, on 01/08/2009, -0/+1stop feeding the troll..
- DThatsMe, on 01/10/2009, -0/+1Wow. Looked up more info on this.
Dude is my hero. - lovemorgul, on 01/08/2009, -0/+1I wonder if reading novels is really better for you than reading.
- G-RaZoR, on 01/15/2009, -0/+1At least with having a salary they pay more taxes. So if you figure more taxes = giving back, then there you go.
