- steven0451, on 09/08/2009, -0/+36You have Hulu and Pandora and you're upset about not getting Spotify? I'd gladly trade places with you...
- Rorsach, on 09/08/2009, -1/+17Spotify lands on iPhone THROUGHOUT Europe.
Apparently Europe consists of just 4/6 instead of 50 countries these days. - beelz, on 09/07/2009, -5/+15"Unfortunately, due to licensing restrictions we are not yet available in your country. We understand that you are currently in United States."
***** THE RIAA. - Choaderboy, on 09/07/2009, -0/+8If your iPhone is jailbroken, 'Backgrounder' (available via Cydia) takes care of the app running in the background. And yes, you can download your playlists for offline listening (only over wifi though).
- ahpro, on 09/08/2009, -0/+8I love Spotify, it's great on the computer. Pity you need to pay £120 a year for the premium account to get it on the iphone/ipod touch. I guess thats how they make their money though!
- joshuaer, on 09/08/2009, -0/+7240.00 a year for music that i do not own. It sound like a good deal for any one who buys 2 or more full CDs a month, but with pandora , CBS radio and AOL radio I can listen to what i want most of the time. on the off chance that i really like a song i pick just that some up from itunes. I honestly do not think i have ever spend 240.00 a year on music. ( No i do not pirate music ) But if you are a hardcore music person who spends 20.00 or more a month on music and tend not to listen to your music after 2 or 3 months then it is a good deal.
- massivedigga, on 09/07/2009, -0/+6Do you think Apple will introduce the ability to run apps in the background or is it worth jailbreaking?
- bilbohicks, on 09/07/2009, -0/+6I think we're going to have to jailbreak for it to work in the background, which is a pity. It's things like this that might well drive me to an Android handset once my O2 contract runs out next year.
Unless someone ports Android onto the iPhone, now that would be sweet. - expatzero, on 09/08/2009, -1/+6"throughout Europe" = not in Germany apparently.
- inactive, on 09/08/2009, -0/+5Yeah I won't know why MS won't just turn the Zune HD into a phone. *fingers crossed* Nobody wants to carry around two devices. Those days are over
- joshuaer, on 09/08/2009, -0/+5jailbreaking is the best way for backgrounding, that is actually the only reason i jail broke my iphone.
- rfdparker2002, on 09/08/2009, -1/+6And on Android.
- twollamalove, on 09/08/2009, -2/+6The Zune Pass has got this service beat easily (I know that doesn't help an iPhone owner)
- massivedigga, on 09/07/2009, -0/+4This would be amazing if it could run in the background..Do you know if the iPhone can be switched to standby mode with Spotify still running? Also, whats the deal with the playlists thing? Can you download tracks to listen to later? I'm excited about this, but it needs to be very good for £10 a month...
- falafelkiosken, on 09/08/2009, -1/+5that's what you get for two world wars...
- Mawds, on 09/08/2009, -1/+5Maybe if you got 'synaesthesia', you could develop a taste for music.
- SouthsideIrish, on 09/08/2009, -4/+7You can't because the RIAA won't let you. ***** the RIAA!
- fmorel90, on 09/08/2009, -0/+3Pandora works for me with my iPod Touch in standby, so Spotify probably works too.
- fishnchips, on 09/07/2009, -2/+5Finally! Installed and working. Yeah!
- thinboyslim, on 09/08/2009, -0/+3...and one world cup
- swmbuk, on 09/08/2009, -1/+3What happens if one day they decide to jack up the prices? A great idea, but I like the security of owning my own collection, and not letting others say what I should pay to access it.
- TheIguana, on 09/08/2009, -1/+3One negative to Canada: Spotify, Hulu & Pandora all don't give a ***** about you.
- inactive, on 09/08/2009, -1/+3Well Central and Eastern Europeans can't afford an iphone anyway!
- Rudegar, on 09/08/2009, -0/+1too bad my music taste is incompatible with the taster of others of my species :S
- Otto, on 09/08/2009, -0/+1That's not entirely true...
Yes, apps doing things cause the battery to drain.
No, "backgrounding" has nothing to do with it, other than those apps are still running and doing things.
It doesn't drain any "faster than normal", just at the same speed as if you had the app in the foreground and working. - toxicpiano, on 09/09/2009, -0/+1Germans, Swiss and Austrians can't afford iPhones?
- bar10dr, on 09/08/2009, -0/+1I got it but I wish the radio feature was there.
- dojocasino, on 09/08/2009, -0/+1...doo dah, doo dah
- davzie, on 09/09/2009, -0/+1It's amazing on Android. I'm trialing it for a month to see how I get on with it. It's giving me a chance to find and discover things on the go and without adverts high quality stylee too so that if I want to end up getting that album knowing I'll actually listen to it in the future then I can. I think they've done a really good job.
- shutaro, on 09/08/2009, -4/+5How does one eat music? ... And is it particularly nutritious?
- peril49, on 09/22/2009, -0/+0Here a solution to run spotify in the background just like the ipod application does...
http://www.sugarbean.com/2009/09/running-spotify-i ... - myfreeweb, on 09/08/2009, -0/+0via proxy!
- adremali, on 09/08/2009, -5/+4how can i download this if i'm in the US? i have a spotify acct
- warlord, on 09/08/2009, -4/+2Apps running in the backgroud drain the battery faster than usual. Thats one reason why apple introduced the Notifications system so i doubt they will every implement it. Backgrounder is the best way to go about it so dont hesitate and jailbreak today.
- jptolife, on 09/08/2009, -3/+1nvm
