- synd, on 10/12/2007, -4/+31Use Todos. Waste time trying to find the icon that goes with the application you need. Waste resources. Confuse yourself. Be unproductive.
Use Quicksilver. Instantly find the applicaion or applications. Be productive. - Powerdrift, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21I'm sure I'll also get dug down for this, but that is the same thing I thought.
So many small icons to have to look through, where with Quicksilver (or with any text-launcher) you just type a few letters and instantly the application you want is available. - wastern, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20don't bury something just because you don't know how to read
- sneeka2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Exactly, way too cluttered to be any useful. And it's still a one-trick pony. The update doesn't give any new groundbreaking features, it's still just a window with too many icons in it.
The one reason I'm keeping this installed is indeed for the case when I just can't remember that one app's name, but I can remember the icon. As a launcher though, unusable. - prockcore, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10It does show that Apple needs *some* sort of Application management. Throwing every app into your Applications directory works for when you only use Safari, Photoshop, and iLife (and you can just leave them in your dock), but as the number of apps increase, the more I wish there was something like the Gnome Applications menu... with all the apps categorized automatically.

ROFL! - wastern, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10i deleted that app in less then 5 minutes. it was worthless
- blakestar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The dock is great and QS rules OS X day but Todos is a snazzy show off app icons. I like it.
- lo0ol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Actually, I'm quite happy with my apps. As mentioned above (and probably will be mentioned below), Quicksilver is a great piece of software- probably ranks at the very top of my "best software" list. I keep my Dock very clean- only apps that stay in there are apps that are open, usually all the time (iCal, NetNewsWire, Mail, Adium, iTunes, Safari, etc). Part of my pet peeve is the Mac users you see with every single app they have shoved into the Dock... makes me shed a tear. But with Quicksilver I can access any app within a keystroke or three while simultaneously only using my Dock for apps that I want down there.
edit - yay for larger edit windows now! Editing your comments in two lines is not too much fun. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+10I like to use Spotlight. I don't see the point of this application and I am SICK of seeing that Paul Stamiatoruamirmatou guy's stuff on the homepage. He's not god.
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Yea spotlight is the way to go, this thing is confusing as hell.
- salazr, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7great application, i'm looking forwards to the new version to be released in a few days.
- benwaterworth, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8i like the look of it. but i'm not sure i'd use it.
i have quicksilver and butler but never really seem to use either.
there's this amazing thing called a dock.
any apps i don't have on their i tend to find via spotlight. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5What was wrong with just changing the background color of the applications folder to black?
- eastshores, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4This looks like some nice late hour power mongering, digg-whoring, and in-fighting. As far as the application is concerned, that is the best looking, most cluttered, "Tool Bar" I have ever seen. What is special about sucking in links with their shortcuts. It's a big icon fest.
- salazr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Dude, it's already out. This is about the new version of the program.
- Logik, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3If QuickSilver is too hard to use or what have you, try LaunchBar. I know I get a lot of people saying "but QS has so much extra stuff I know I won't know how to use or will ever have the desire to learn how to use" so I always recommend LaunchBar as it is clean, simple and to the point. There's also Butler but my experience with it is minimal. My recommendation beyond QS is LaunchBar, had I not discovered QS I likely would've purchased LaunchBar after the trial period, fortunately I didn't because QS is the better choice for me.
- noneloud, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5See, that's what happens when you (try to) think......buried.
- quoquo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Currently running app icons are stroked in green."
>. - X111, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5Whoopee, another sneak preview of an app that one day will see the light of day. Am I the only one getting a tad tired of this trend? Wake me when something actually gets released.
- KyleofAlberta, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Niiice ^_^
- Ramble, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I see the much mentioned Apple usability is present in this app.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I'm a fan of Launcher by Odology (http://www.odology.com/) for $15, or Namely (does almost same thing @ http://amarsagoo.info/namely/index.shtml) for free. Using Dockless (http://homepage.mac.com/fahrenba/programs/dockless/dockless.html), you can keep namely hidden from the dock.
I spoke with the namely author and he's making several improvements that'll be released in a couple weeks.
If QuickSilver's too much for you (like me, I just need a simple launcher), Odology is the pick, but save $15 by getting Namely. - ggore, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I use Himmelbar, it's much easier to use than Todos but not having to squint at dozens of little tiny icons to find the one you want.
- jimdiggity, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0What's wrong with the dock? Or the finder itself? How does this simplify anything? It only adds to the number of growing applications in your folder...just organize yourself, don't waste your time.
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4This'd never work on Windows, it's a good thing Mac OS only has a small number of apps avaliable on it :) Even better is that the apps do all the stuff you need your gazillion Windows apps for.
- salazr, on 10/12/2007, -13/+5neiltc13, wow what an insightful post. if paul writes good ***** why would you have a problem with it. i see tons of other people on digg ALL THE TIME *cough*phill ryu*cough* but dont see you complaining.
- ronaldst, on 10/12/2007, -19/+5I thought this was about Leopard (Mac OSX 1.5).
Buried.

What is Digg?
