- anteyekon4myst, on 10/30/2007, -1/+23Knowing Rogers they'll disable the touchscreen.
- mastahack, on 10/30/2007, -3/+24For $499 canadian, you could actually buy an unlocked iphone on ebay for about $50 less, and use that on rogers instead.
- supermanred, on 10/30/2007, -2/+16Umm, so you are saying I should pay 50 dollars less to use an iphone on Rogers with a hack when I could pay the 50 bucks more, get a receipt and warranty from the apple store and use it on the same network at the same rate without a hack?
I'll pay the 500 bucks. - supermanred, on 10/30/2007, -1/+14STFU thats what Digg is for, linking to stuff on the internet. I dont care if its on microsoft's front page, or on MSNBC's....or on a major blog.
- nutsackninja, on 10/30/2007, -3/+15With our high data rates (running about $100 a month for anything usable), the iphone is useless on rogers anyways.
- ToastPop, on 04/17/2009, -1/+10This ad really doesn't live up to the design standards and creative direction of most Rogers publications. I call fake.
- sens, on 10/30/2007, -2/+9It's fake
http://www.canada.com/topics/technology/story.html ... - Bostocks, on 10/30/2007, -2/+9Worthless unless rogers comes out with some sensible data plans.
- pradaaddict, on 10/30/2007, -1/+8and the WiFi and Safari and they will charge you for using their WAP browser.
- vamos, on 10/30/2007, -1/+7It's pretty pathetic how low the US dollar has fallen.
- pradaaddict, on 10/30/2007, -2/+8I definatley think its a false rumour. I also hate to be pessimistic here but i doubt that Rogers will ever commit to Apples pricing scheme for data bundles as it would cause Rogers to rework all their data package pricing which would cut right into their bottom line. Right now Rogers can charge whatever they want for Data and they do.
There is a serious problem with the Canadian telecom sector. - hit9ent, on 10/30/2007, -1/+6I work for rogers plus im a 3rd year student in graphic design and that does NOT look like a rogers ad!
some punk made that garbage.... but it is true, they are trying to release the iphone before christmas in canada but not at that price! - c0ldfusi0n, on 10/29/2007, -1/+6Then don't ***** look at it.
- cramd, on 10/29/2007, -1/+5Don't forget that when you go down to Mr. Rogers you are also going to have to sign a three year contract.. Nokia - the new apple
- Commodus, on 10/29/2007, -1/+4Buried as inaccurate. On top of the earlier comments, the price would have to be $399 (Canadian currency is actually stronger now) without triggering an immediate mutiny.
- TDot1980, on 10/30/2007, -0/+3What you saw was probably an iPod touch.
- mlostracco, on 10/30/2007, -0/+2It looks NOTHING like Rogers' ads or marketing, and the logo is totally incorrect and wrong. It's not only a fake, but a very poor one.
As for the December 7th mockup, there are a few things wrong, but namely that Rogers says "3-year" (grammatically correct) and not "3 year" wireless plan, and they also call it a service agreement. - BionicAntboy, on 10/30/2007, -1/+3Whether or not it's true, this ad is gotta be a photoshop fake. It looks NOTHING like a legit Rogers ad. The branding is all wrong.
Rogers branding always has the Circle device to the left of the Rogers name, and a red bow across the iPhone interface? Even in a mock-up, no designer would do this. Same with the green font, and the serif font for the price. - AdamSnow, on 10/29/2007, -1/+3I have an unlocked iPhone on Rogers, as do many other people here in Canada... I drove to Detroit (30 minutes away) bought the phone, had it unlocked and on Rogers the same day.
- thall, on 10/30/2007, -3/+5Rogers is "best" only because they squash competition having better service. I've used Rogers, Fido, and Telus and found Fido to have had the best service....until Rogers bought them and forced all fido networks to change.
- jhails, on 10/29/2007, -3/+5The Canadian dollar is now tracking higher than the US Dollar so $399.00 in the states VS. $499.00 in Canada isn't going to go over very well. Add to that the outrageous fees for data services in Canada, an extra 3rd year contractual commitment and a chronic lack of competitive service providers in Canada. If this is real I doubt it will prove very successful.
John - pieinthesky, on 10/30/2007, -1/+3What? You can't use a rogers phone (GSM) on the Bell (CDMA) network regarless of how unlocked it is.
I use an unlocked nokia on the rogers network, no problems. - mrhaines, on 10/31/2007, -0/+2plus Canada's data rates are extremely expensive. The average person could never afford to use the iphone here.
- orgazmo, on 10/29/2007, -1/+3I really wouldn't care to dish out 100$ more for an iPhone even tho I live 15 minutes away from the border IF it allows me to have an unlimited data plan at a good price. There is currently no such thing up here, data usage for cell phones is more expensive than it is in 3rd world countries
- Oogler, on 10/30/2007, -0/+2Rogers may have an iPhone announement pending but this ad is as fake as they come.
- pradaaddict, on 10/30/2007, -1/+3proof?
- nanananini, on 10/30/2007, -0/+2Incorrect. They won't sell you an unlocked phone but there are plenty of places to go get your phone unlocked. I'm currently using an unlocked Motorola L6 purchased in the UK on the Rogers network.
- nreynolds, on 10/30/2007, -3/+4more like Peal Har-boring!!!! amirite? right?
- mrhaines, on 10/30/2007, -0/+1Well Rogers won't be selling many of them directly. Didn't they get the memo? Our dollar is worth more than the U.S. $499 is *****.
- ttntyler, on 10/30/2007, -0/+1http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/5132/58054709nx6. ...
- markdelete, on 10/29/2007, -0/+1obviously the add is fake. the info may or may not be valid but im even skeptical of that.
also why would they launch iphone so close to MacWorld that could very well be replaced by a 16gb or more version a month later? not saying thats planned or even rumored but by then iPhone will be 6 months old & about time for Apple to consider an update. they could even do digitalPCS & 3G for all we know. just cause ATT got their deal in the states doesnt mean they cant go other routes for other countries. - mastahack, on 10/30/2007, -1/+2yes, supermanred, that is exactly what im saying
- mysteri0usdrx, on 10/30/2007, -2/+3thanks for linking to maddox, because upon clicking i noticed he released a new page today
- mastahack, on 10/29/2007, -0/+1The iphone hasnt cured AIDS yet? give it time.
- pieinthesky, on 11/03/2007, -0/+1That's much more like it...
- MonkeyBoy87, on 10/30/2007, -2/+3unless apple/rogers has aquired the rights to the iPhone trademark, this is pointless...
- BionicAntboy, on 10/29/2007, -1/+2Not so much lately. Cross border shoping (on and offline) are climbing in Canada ever since the dollar has jumped up. There's been tons of news reports about retailers starting to make price adjustments because of this. If they don't embrace it, online Christmas shopping is going to be HUGE in Canada.
- supermanred, on 10/29/2007, -5/+6Try an iphone, and then compare it to your ***** 400 dollar motorla razr.
Seriously... and in Canada (toronto anyways) ROgers is the best for cel service anyways. - VeroAvitar, on 10/29/2007, -0/+1thats surprising bell wouldn't take an unlocked phone. The ads a fake..we all know Rogers crazy marketing PR would have iPhone splatter on every TTC subway car in Toronto.
As for data, until the price comes down its useless. Seriously there are third world countries with cheaper data plans...yay for monopolies. - dannysun, on 10/29/2007, -1/+2I see your point but I just can't imagine why having more people on data plans would be a bad long term investment. I suppose we have to wait and see!
- chubbstar, on 11/15/2007, -0/+1HEAR HEAR.
- slimdizzy, on 10/30/2007, -0/+1this is no wrong. rogers and apple have no deal signed yet. and from what my corp rogers rep is saying, more like q3 2008.
- mastahack, on 10/30/2007, -0/+1you're stories are just stupid man.
- sustainablehero, on 05/01/2008, -0/+0Too good to be true; if Rogers brought the iPhone to Canada that would mean achieving the possibility of having UNLIMITED data on our Canadian data plans - yepeeeeee,,, pffffft...... like that will ever happen... especially with Rogers.
- moneyballs2, on 10/29/2007, -1/+1Wow, What a surprise, it is actually arriving across the pond in UK before Canada get it. Apple do make you laugh.
- ahac, on 10/29/2007, -1/+1December?
Won't Canadians wear gloves in December? You know... the gloves which you can't use the iPhone with. - Zippo, on 10/29/2007, -1/+1Sorry, I'm not paying an extra $100 for an iPhone, especially with the Canadian dollar being HIGHER than the American...
Not to mention Rogers has absolute ******* service in my province. - originaldna, on 10/29/2007, -0/+0Get ready to take out a bank loan to pay rogers for their data plan.
- BionicAntboy, on 10/29/2007, -1/+1Until Apple inks a deal with Comwave, and Rogers gives on it's data charges (the former MUCH more likely to happen), the iPhone isn't gonna get legit up here.
- supermanred, on 10/30/2007, -1/+1Good luck with your 50 dollar cheaper iPhone you bought off eBay. Hope you never drop it or have any problems with it.
I know Apple was nice enough to replace the battery on my macbook when I said it wasnt lasting too long, the new one lasts 4 hours. They are also replacing the outer shell of my macbook (that one took some convincing) because it scratched up so easily...
I doubt if I had bought the macbook from the back of a truck they wouldve done the same, but who knows they are pretty decent about products without receipts, unless of course your iPhones were replaced with floor tiles at the local best buy... -
