- popzero, on 11/12/2008, -2/+50I've said it before and I'll say it again. Apple, please get mobile Safari to stop ***** cra-
- popzero, on 11/12/2008, -1/+31-shing all the damn time. It's annoying as hell.
(But thank you digg, for a mobile site that does not crash it. Would be nice to be able to leave comments using the phone, though.) - musicphreke, on 11/12/2008, -4/+27I demand copy & paste.
But I won't get it... - zwendkos, on 11/12/2008, -2/+18just make safari more stable.. actually, the whole thing more stable... i don't even really care about copy/paste
- FreddieD, on 11/12/2008, -0/+10iPhone 2.2 release 10 days away = iPhone 2.2 jailbreak release 15 days away
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -1/+11and video Recording and Un-restricted bluetooth
- enclaved, on 11/12/2008, -2/+8So the lack of updates makes yours better? You've got to be kidding me. What kind of disconnected reality do you exist in that updates are a flaw?
- stalkertj, on 11/12/2008, -0/+5Seriously, copy and paste? I guess I could start using that to copy and paste my picture messages I have to view by going to an external website. How about we fix something that EVERY phone on the planet can do first and then worry about copy and paste.
- topgigmedia, on 11/12/2008, -0/+5Updates are not always bug fixes. They can also be enhancements and new features.
- Shootfast, on 11/12/2008, -1/+5And to see comments the same way as they are on the main site
- badtzmartin, on 11/12/2008, -0/+4Umm... ebay?
- ElementsOfDance, on 11/12/2008, -0/+3I've never needed copy and paste.
- MiDri, on 11/12/2008, -0/+3For some reason A2DP is the most controversial bluetooth profile. This may sound crazy, but I think it has to do with the fact that you could theoretically stream "high quality" feeds to multiple devices at once using it.
- thecheat1, on 11/12/2008, -0/+3MMS is 100% possible on a legit, non-jailbroken phone without any 3rd party apps or anything.
There are certain email addresses associated with all numbers, and that's the trick, MMS is basically a front for email...Seeing why Apple ignored it now?
So you want to send a pic to your friend who has MMS but no ability to check their email while on their phone? Send it to(insert phone number here)@mms.att.com (by the way, that's not the real email address for ATT, but all major carriers are listed on the internet so go Google.)
And receiving a picture is even easier, simply have them send it to your email address and there you go! - synagence, on 11/12/2008, -1/+3Get over it .... it'll happen when His Jobbiness feels ready .... which may be never
- SteaminTmann, on 11/12/2008, -2/+4MMS MMS MMS MMS MMS MMS MMS MMS MMS MMS ... There I said it....
- mentor972, on 11/12/2008, -3/+5I still don't understand why copy and paste is such a HHUUUGGGEEEE deal. I've only felt like I needed it maybe once in a year and a half.
- likwidfuzion, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2I'd say 12 days max. The same exploit still exists on the latest firmware til this day.
- Straat, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2When you want to update it, you will be basically be jailbreaking it again, just download the new firmware, and use whichever jailbreaking software you used to originally jailbreak it, just with the new firmware if that makes any sense to you.
- rimantas, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2hiss? crackle? What are you using, car radio? Does not sound like GSM to me.
- bachlau, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2Apple Online Store in Hong Kong.
http://apple.com/hk/store - DelMonte, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2Well, we all know that iPhone doesn't have flash.
As for CSS scrollbars, a little known trick is that you can scroll embedded scrolling content using two fingers to make up and down swipes. - rimantas, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2Care to count how much 3000 makes of nearly 20 million?
Copy/paste would be nice, but I couldn't care less about MMS or voice dial. Prety much every phone I've owned had these features, and I never used them. I guess I am not alone.
Of course, there are lots of people who _do_ use them, but I am not so sure about proportions. And "want" != "need". - jparkinson, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1Dude,
I can RDP to any machine on my network from anywhere that has 3G access through a secure VPN connection and completely control it as if I was sitting there (albeit a lot more finicky)... shut the ***** up about nothing going on inside.
Those other two features are basically useless (to me at least), but I agree with the copy and paste... I just assume (wishful thinking?) that the reason it is taking so long is that they are developing some cool way to implement it. - lateralus, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1Now go and get him.
- clearwaterlab, on 11/12/2008, -0/+1and the updates for the ipod classic keeps slipping away...
- popzero, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1Constantly. I have to think really hard about which stories I want to hit the digg link to, because there's ~80% chance that any article will crash me. Usually when I'm halfway through reading the thing, so that when I re-open Safari, the cache is empty and the back button is useless, so I have to start over at page one on digg. That's just my anecdotal experience, but it's insanely frustrating. Even happens when I remember to scroll down s l o o o w l y. (And this is over wireless, btw.)
- MacParrot, on 11/12/2008, -1/+2How about releasing a 32GB model so it can finally replace my old crappy flip AND my iPod? Convergence is what I want this for but I'm not buying one that promises great video playback and only 16GB of storage
- DarkprinceArmon, on 11/12/2008, -0/+1I have a 16 gig. I put both full seasons of Ghost in the Shell SAC on my iPhone, with about 6 gigs of music and It still has space.
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -0/+1I want to be able to search my emails. Why is such a basic functionality missing?
- MrViklund, on 11/12/2008, -2/+3Buried as spam because of gizmodo.com. Those kids are not worthy writing about anything Apple or iPhone.
- Tyr7BE, on 11/18/2008, -0/+1A network issue...that doesn't exist on other phones, and applies across many different networks wherever the iPhone is sold. Search for "iPhone 3G dropped call" and watch the result count soar.
- rusty_g, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1http://digg.com/apple/iPhone_2_2_update_scheduled_ ...
- metfuel, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1Oh ok. I thought that I would have to restore to the original firmware and have to reinstall all my old apps after a fresh jailbreak. Thanks guys!
I will definitely wait a couple days after it's been confirmed before I even attempt it to make sure people don't have issues. Don't need to have a bricked phone. - paulsmith288, on 11/12/2008, -0/+1I really hope Apple do not change the iTunes db hashing format (again).
As a linux user without iTunes it used to be really cool to sync music over wi-fi using amarok. Apple broke that on purpose last update. - jparkinson, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1yeah you're gonna have to be prepared to wait a couple of days, although they are usually really quick about it.. it is different with each update.
- jparkinson, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1I have mine on 2.1 and Rogers, never dropped a call... actually I never dropped a call before 2.1 either. I think thats a network issue and it is getting mostly blamed on apple.
- SergeiGolos, on 11/12/2008, -0/+0I digg you for your 1984 reference, although they didn't remove the button. they made it bigger. ;-)
I wish they took button away anyways, you can do everything with a track pad by just tapping on it. Although they will not fix their windows drivers so laptops with bootcamp can enjoy the two finger tap for right click, for some reason i need to put two fingers on the track pad and then click to get a right click. Bahh.. - inactive, on 11/12/2008, -1/+1And also mms picture sending ability as well as zoom on camera. Things that 40 dollar cheapo Korean phones have. What up Apple?
- SergeiGolos, on 11/12/2008, -1/+1So Jobs bills the phone as being the ultimate media device with a phone. Ahhh.. so why can't i listen to bluetooth stereo with out sticking a dongle in the phone?
Give us A2DP... - Tyr7BE, on 11/12/2008, -2/+2Will it still drop 3G calls every 2 minutes? I've heard this is a hardware issue, so I'm thinking yes.
Yes, yes, I know, YOUR iPhone has never dropped a call, so I MUST be an idiot. All I'm saying is that I can't have a conversation with any one of my friends who owns an iPhone 3G, at least not anything beyond *hisssssssss* *crackle* ----HELLO?-----*hissssssss*----LLO?----*crackle*----ARE----*hissssssssss*---THERE?----*radio silence*.....*hisssssss*...silence.....*call drop*
It blows my mind what people will put up with and still call the final product 'good'. People are actually emptying their pockets for this, and recommending it to other people! I know a guy who carries around a flip phone to make phone calls, and an iPhone to listen to music.
Now watch me get dugg down for simply relaying what I've observed. I know you people don't like to hear it, but it's the simple truth. - Sixxer, on 11/12/2008, -2/+2Buried for Gizmodo
- DeadPlasmaCell, on 11/12/2008, -1/+1I have an iPod Touch.. Will I be charged for this? The WiFi Podcast update feature is very cool sounding.
- metfuel, on 11/12/2008, -1/+1Hmm now I have to figure out since I just got my iphone a month ago and jailbroke it. What steps I have to take
to update to the new firmware. Any diggers out there that can point me in the right direction? :D - Gareth321, on 11/13/2008, -0/+0The ability to "RDP" has been around for years before the iPhone was ever conceived. Why are you touting this as being intelligent?
Once again, no one cares what features you use. Narcissistic much? Everyone has different uses for their phone but the consensus is that omitting such basic features as MMS and voice dial is ludicrous. I get the feeling you would be defending this phone if you couldn't make voice calls because you can text and "Apple is developing a cool way to implement it".
Look, it's pretty - no, it's ***** sexy - but it's ***** dumb too. The processor can handle much more than the software is allowed to do. When Jobs finally pulls his head out of Wozniak's butt crack and they decide to descend, holding hands, from their mountain of money into the real world, you may have a phone worthy of the price tag. - Tyr7BE, on 11/12/2008, -1/+1Please don't confuse the iPhone with a smart phone. It's a step up from a dumb phone, but with its half baked feature set, it's no smart phone.
- Gareth321, on 11/13/2008, -1/+03,000 would be an exageration on the number of people I've personally seen. When you extrapolate this the actual number would be much greater (say, 20 million!?!). Commenting on whether you want the feature is irrelevant, no one cares whether you do or you don't. I also never specified whether everyone 'wants' or 'needs' the feature, just that many have been requesting it.
