- Matrixsjd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the differance allarise between the two click-wheels, is the fact that the click-wheel in the nano is an actual apple produced componant, and the click-wheel in the 4th gen is made by another company contracted by apple to make them. So in other words apple is going to start making the wheels in all the iPod's. I can't wait for this update :)
- whalesalad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah I was gonna sell my 20GB 4th gen to get a new color 20GB, but I think I will have to wait...
- surfing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't see a 4G HDD in that article... just a 40. But if there were a 4G HDD the difference would be that the Nano use a flash drive.
- maDDHatter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hmm might have to save my money on the nano and buy the ipod video.
- gnarly717, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0$50 - $150?
I wish I knew, my darn 2G iPod won't die so I can justify buying one that has that freaking dock connector. It's amazing that my 2G iPod (and it's operating system) was obsolete in 6 months, but a 3G has been able to do most everything for 2 years.
Bah - boardingrhino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0think about it, apple has different models for different people. if you have 45GB of music, a 512 shuffle probably isn't right for you - the 60GB is. Apple isn't trying to screw you. they are just cycling through their line and updating it. They have 4 different models that they do a major update to once per year. this is a good thing for us consumers it means that capitalism is working it keeps consumers happy because we have the technology we want and apple's shareholders happy because stock prices go up.
- FoneJunkie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0what's the difference between the Nano click-wheel and the 4G HDD click-wheels.
The Nano click-wheel is made by Apple - the others were made to Apple's spec by another company... and the Nano click-wheel is more compact than the one on the iPod Mini and the 4G HDD iPod - neocitron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ahhaa the Powermac Dual Dual core G5... quad cores baby!
- surfing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0oh, did you mean price? Maybe I misunderstood.
- techromancer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is pissing me off..
I just returned my nano cause of the screen issue and got the 20gig color.
Now new iPods?? Just make a final decision, not like 3 new versions per year! - dna42fan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i sitll like my nano. no screen problems or anything. a few minor scratches here and there, but thats about it. i don't have a need for viewing pictures on a 2" screen, so i don't really care about the screen scratches
- Terry2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0::Never got a nano because I am waiting for the new bigger iPods - gotta have more memory::
- I_Hate_You, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0w00t, new ipod's?... ::sigh:: am I going to have to break my 4gig nano to get one ??? because I will, and get another one from circuit city and their advantage plan...
- diggerphelps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"what's the difference between the Nano click-wheel and the 4G HDD click-wheels."
The difference is, Apple has taken the technology to create them in-house. Previously they were contracting the design out to Synaptics.

http://synaptics.com - notalbertpacino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0woah, good thing i read this. I was JUST about to get my broken 4g replaced at best buy. Maybe i'll wait till they have new ones in stock.
- willij, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Tim Foreman from the band Switchfoot said that there is going to be a new version of iTunes come out sometime in November that takes care of the new copy protection that is on their new cd. Sony has taken down the forum thread that he made a post in about it. But you can read part of it here: http://www.actsofvolition.com/archives/2005/september/switchfoot
- Solo203, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i used to have a 4g 40gb ipod til the HD died. got it replaced by HP. and sold it as soon as i got it($370). was gonna get the $400 60gb color. but i keep hearing rumor after rumor of 5g ipod like every month. and it doesnt come out. ima hold out this last time. if no october 5g, i'm getting the zen vision.
- mikataur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0from article: "Sources also continue to support rumors that the new iPods will gain video playback functionality, but have provided very little evidence backing their assertions."
To me, this makes it sound doubtful, as video playback AND THE INFRASTRUCTURE TO SUPPORT IT (ie, downloads, H.264 encoding apps, deals with content provides such as Disney) would be very hard to keep secret for anyone with ANY inside knowledge.
Also, the size issue... if none of iPods are going to get significantly bigger, then a 4" screen is impossible.
Oh well, back to my PSP... Just wish I could connect a USB cable from my 60GB iPod to the PSP to at least transfer .MP4s on the run. That would be so sweet it would be pure fructose! - sterbacblu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm just surprised that "video" was mentioned in the article and wasn't even mentioned in the description
- batmant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0they finally get the battery life for the mini's rated at 18 hours for 6 gigs. now i am going to take less than that for 4 gigs w/ a nano at the same price...and apparently it might explode (or crack) at any given minute? apple needs to do something about the regular ipod's size and i might consider one of those but i just dont have use for much more then 6 gigs on an mp3 player.
apple please just make a 6 gig nano with 20 hour battery life and take away that horrible chrome backing. it just makes it look smudgy and crappy. - Billdozer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm so glad I just bought that used 3G on eBay....
Christ, I knew this was gonna happen, but I didn't think it would be for AT LEAST another 6 months. I will never buy a brand new product from them. 'Used' all the way! - allarise, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"the differance allarise between the two click-wheels, is the fact that the click-wheel in the nano is an actual apple produced componant, and the click-wheel in the 4th gen is made by another company contracted by apple to make them. right on. cool. - allarise, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0what's the difference between the Nano click-wheel and the 4G HDD click-wheels.
- gnarly717, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0surfing,
the G in 4G means 4th generation, not the HDD size.
But, I understand the confusion. - Sixcolors, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Being able to watch Diggnation on the iPod would be pretty sweet. I'll just have to settle for copying the MPEGs to my PSP. =D No one's surprised about the "jazzed up" G4 laptops. It would figure since I bought mine right after the revision earlier this year. Meh, that's the way Apple is, though.
- nwagers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They'll never get content to sell at iTMS unless Jobs breaks and lets songs vary in price more than they currently do. But a video iPod wouldn't surprise me especially because of the music videos available through iTMS and the "buy video" graphics found in the iTunes executable.
- diggerboi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0New iPods? Went I went to go buy a nano, they well sold out. Maybe it was a sign telling me that the new iPods were coming out. And that store is still sold out of the nanos.
- silentauthority, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i'm still happy with my 4g black and white iPod.. .still does the job.
- DannyB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Man, I am getting so tired of hearing about Apple/iPod. Everytime a employee wipes there ass, every technology news site has to post it.
- SoulRebel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If the 80GB is thicker than the 60...no dice. The 60 is too fat as it is...
- dimplemonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0if they could only incorporate some OLED on their iPod screens. The pixel issues have already been fixed so there is no other excuse.
and what about the tablet mac? That's what I'm wondering about more and more. - neocitron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0u know... only a handful of people in Apple even knew the nano existed before release....
- teknotant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just in time for me to upgrade my 4g 20GB ipod.
- FoneJunkie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0>I just returned my nano cause of the screen issue and got the 20gig color.

Yeah, it's not like it's M$ Vista with 7 different versions... :) - Stopher, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Damm and I just ordered my nano. Something new is always comming out.=)
- brewer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0^^"Just make a final decision..."
Final decision? Are you crazy?
