"notes are also presented in their own mode. This seems unnecessary, as notes are just emails without an address. Why not present them alongside emails in the mailbox as Outlook does?"
First of all, since when are notes "alongside" E-mails? That's not how I've ever seen them in Outlook; Notes are a separate function, as they certainly should be. Notes are useful for things like recipes, creative ideas, NOTES (duh)... and these things need CATEGORIES. Mail is organized into mailboxes. Notes, tasks, and contacts NEED CATEGORIES.
And that is where Apple fails miserably. In addition to continually failing to come up with a PIM like Outlook, they don't offer the simple necessity of categories in the utilities that they do offer. For example, Address Book: WTF is up with no categories? So on your Mac (and consequently on your iPhone), your business contacts, family members, doctors, bookies, whatever are all jumbled together idiotically. This is stuff that the Palm OS syncing utilities have handled flawlessly for a decade or more, folks, on cheap little devices.
Notes should NOT be mixed in with E-mail. It's just plain stupid. - dasluvaluva, on 11/20/2007, -0/+2Just waiting for Mail & iCal to finally get Exchange support. Suck it up, Apple, and just license it.
- vault, on 11/20/2007, -2/+4Entourage '08 looks nicer than I thought it would.
- Yarnage, on 11/20/2007, -0/+1For some reason, the UI looks cleaner in Entourage than in Apple's iCal and Mail applications. Well, at least in my opinion...
- Quix, on 11/20/2007, -0/+1I wish Apple would just be done with it and merge Mail and iCal, a la Entourage.
- dagamer34, on 11/20/2007, -1/+2I just want Office 2008 so I'm finally running all native apps. Come on Microsoft! Does it really take 2 years to make a Universal Binary? Adobe did it in one!

- smrekar, on 11/20/2007, -0/+1Adobe had Apple's support and resources because it was hindering the progress. Also, they had their DEV machines longer than a year.
- InCider, on 11/20/2007, -3/+3great explanation of how and why Entourage and Outlook are different. I also thought it was cool about the two 22 year old guys running IE and Outlook Express projects! Reminds me of my days as a kid running a dotcom with my pals and feeling like I was way over my head.
- RyanB18, on 11/20/2007, -3/+3I was hoping you could sync To Do lists with the Exchange server in the new Entourage...unfortunately MS has decided not to add that feature.
- JerodSlay, on 11/20/2007, -4/+4***** these "Road to ______" nobody gives a *****.
- colindunn, on 11/20/2007, -6/+3That UI makes me gag. It looks like they threw Leopard and Office '07 into a blender.
