- potterboy, on 06/04/2009, -2/+18But the iFone has been out in China forever... oh wait... crap I got ripped off
- yabos, on 06/04/2009, -1/+11Can't they already just take one home from the iPhone factory where they work?
- Bloodwine, on 06/04/2009, -1/+5Will it come with onboard GPS to direct the police to your position if you try and access forbidden material?
- PandaBearShenyu, on 06/04/2009, -0/+3I have an ifone, it comes unlocked and operates on all 4 bands in North America and has memory extension slots and other stuff that Apple doesn't deem necessary. And it costs less than $80.
ifone and iphone are built exactly the same, even has the same camera, the only thing diff is the logo on the back and the operating system. I simply don't understand the $300 diff. Oh right... Apple Tax. - PandaBearShenyu, on 06/04/2009, -1/+4iPhone's been "out" in China since day one... XD
Silly restrictions on phones mean nothing in China, any phone will be hacked and unlocked within hours of release, or even before that.
Apple: "Ummm... you can only use our phone with Carrier X. lol"
China: "***** that... *unlocks" or "buys a ripoff iPhone with a memory stick slot and an razor attached to the bottom." <_ I kid you not. - defcobra08, on 06/04/2009, -1/+4....or we can wait til monday to find out the real report.
- VinnieDaMac, on 06/04/2009, -0/+2I wouldn't mind a knockoff iPhone as long as it worked as a phone. I just want to look cool like everyone else.
- diggeratwork, on 06/04/2009, -0/+2LOL
Pro tip: apple please google 山寨机 before you start making moves like this. - boozedrinker, on 06/04/2009, -0/+2While I am excited about the new phone launching all over the world, just PLEASE GIVE ME THE ***** 3.0 UPDATE ALREADY.
- amasiancrasian, on 06/04/2009, -0/+2Buy it in Hong Kong. You can go to http://store.apple.com/hk and purchase the iPhone 3G unlocked. It even says so on the website: "iPhone 3G purchased at the Apple Online Store can be activated with any wireless carrier. Simply insert the SIM from your current phone into iPhone 3G and connect to iTunes 8 to complete activation."
- bloominoctober, on 06/04/2009, -1/+3It would be great if ol' Steve-O surprised us by giving the states the new iPhone in June (with an international release in July). Probably won't happen but hey, a guy can dream.
- slamandcheese, on 06/04/2009, -0/+1I MEAN THAT'S NEAT
- iDiggr, on 06/04/2009, -0/+1You take your logic and shove it up your ass.

- slamandcheese, on 06/04/2009, -0/+1i got issuez
- jonmlm, on 06/04/2009, -0/+1actually some of them on ebay just say "Phone" on the back
- JCEEZ, on 06/04/2009, -0/+1or he can wait another 3 weeks.... ZING!
- NBCLocal, on 06/24/2009, -0/+1Hopefully when they release the new phone they will expand coverage options.
- mesomorphicman, on 06/04/2009, -0/+1I was in Shenzhen China last November and a guy comes up to me after exiting my hotel and he pulls out a iPhone (no idea if it was real or a knock-off), I told him "no." Was tempted to pull out my iPod touch to show him, but partly worried he might grab it and run.
If this news is true of the China launch and I believe it is... this will be HUGE news for Apple. Not everyone there wants or has access to a knock-off or one from HK. I showed my iPod touch to some friends there and they thought it was awesome. The iPhone would be guaranteed success, won't take over other phones - most Chinese would not want it. But enough would buy one for it to be a noticeable success and make a dent, especially with the young buyers and business people to show off. Great success, Apple. - PandaBearShenyu, on 06/04/2009, -1/+1I don't know, but North American iPhones does have a device inside it that can monitor your iPhone and enables Apple to fry your iPhone remotely if they find things they don't want on your device. Look it up.
- ohreilly, on 06/04/2009, -1/+1Didn't realise 3.0 was out (generally available) yet, oh, it isn't?
Still, S60/WinMo/BB etc all seem to have these basic features, and more, and they are cheaper. - rbansal, on 06/03/2009, -2/+2As per the email of Steve Jobs which was written for Apple's employee, most probably new version of iPhone will be launched in July, 2009 in all over the world.
- SPLASTiK, on 06/04/2009, -1/+1I was in China in April/May. There were knockoffs that looked identical, even the OS. They might have been made at the same factory even... However they were simply called "Phone" lacking the lowercase i.
They wanted about $100US for them but you probably could have bargained them down quite a bit. When I ran out of memory on my camera they wanted about $50 for a 4GB SDHC card you can find on Amazon for $12 for instance, I got them down to about $15 or so. - Rudegar, on 06/04/2009, -1/+1it comes with a life long contract :O
- NBCLocal, on 06/24/2009, -3/+3I wanted to hate the iPhone but I can't. It's great that more people will be able to enjoy its ease.
- foofightrs777, on 06/04/2009, -1/+1Apple fanboy that's digging us down show yourself and state your reasons.
- jackmarlin, on 06/23/2009, -0/+0Just could not believe it!

- foofightrs777, on 06/04/2009, -2/+1I wanted to get an iPhone but I refuse to use ATT.
- grimacebrown, on 06/04/2009, -1/+0What was up with this guy in that article???
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3366/3594964349_d7b ... - AboveandBeyond, on 06/04/2009, -2/+1well if apple doesn't release their products in all countries equally then china deserve to clone their devices...and I bet they have copypaste and mms.
