how much is the iTV again? - TortfeasorG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Don't worry, Apple will disable compatibility with this product in its next firmware upgrade because the content won't be DRM'ed with Apple's Fairplay.
- jaxzin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I've been using iRecord for several months to record HD broadcasts to my Mac via Firewire from my cable box. I thought that's what this digg was about, but it turns out this is refering to a different product. Check out http://www.ammesset.com/software/irecord/ for the 'original' iRecord.
- jma06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2> 200 bucks!?!?
I agree. This is an over priced novelty.
1.) A TV Tuner card costs $15 and up
2.) I'd rather record to a PC and transfer over because it seems unpractical to leave the iPod tied up for hrs recording. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@m3thod
Atleast edit out the white-space to prevent being dugg down.
What kills this product is the resolution (when iPods can atleast play 640x480 now) and that scheduling isn't possible. You still have to get up & press "Record". - codwif, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1how is this the same as the iTv again? Doesn't iTV just stream from your computer to your tv?
- redrighthand, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah it streams wirelessly from another computer but that would be more usefull when combined with torrents than tethering your iPod to your TV for hours on end. Can you hook this device up to an external drive with an iPod cable?
- h3xley, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2LOL the demo uses synthesized voice instead of a real person narrating
- se7en11, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Are you just gonna say there are flaws and yet not mention any?
The only real flaw that I see with the product is you have to record at actaul speed. If the DVD is 3 hours long, then the recording process is 3 hours long. :( It would take roughly the same time to rip a DVD and then convert it into a format that the iPod could read. All done with freeware too I might add. - Parkeway, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Neuros created a similar product (first of its kind I believe) called the "Recorder" (now with the Recorder 2 and 2 Plus) more than a year ago.
Easy, versatile, diminutive and not platform specific.
We've got one and it is a good answer to "Fair Use" Nazi's argument that you can't take your own DVDs on the road in your iPod! - spockinator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like my TiVo just fine. Soon there will be Tivo to go for the mac.
- TortfeasorG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1rofl, yeah right!
- squidmarks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Shameless plug:
iPodifier is cheaper (i.e. free) and allows more control over what gets onto your iPod. Works with most common DVR apps (SageTV, WMCE, MythTV, BeyondTV).
www.ipodifier.com - Antebios, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Pfffttt. True geeks get MythTV (knoppmyth) and install Myth2ipod (http://www.myth2ipod.com) to be able to subscribe to your own podcast and quickly and easily get video to your iPod. I've been doing this for months and I have tons of Venture Brothers on my iPod.
- mariusaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Funny I can do this right now with my computer already and probably a lot faster.
- meehawl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hasn't Archos had video handheld players for years that will record anything just by pushing a button? All you need is a video cable. Why is the iPod "solution" so crap and expensive?
- haggie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There are so many flaws in this product's design and feature set that calling it half-baked would be a huge compliment.
- sk1d, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Or, instead of buying an iPod, buy a Creative Zen Vision M and let someone else to all the hard work for you and download the torrent a couple hours after the show's aired.
- ScottyKnows, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The iRecord site is fishy. They have a no return policy, and it can't be bought at any retailers. I would suggest getting the iLuv instead, or if you're good with... stuff... DIY with tuner cards and w/e. Just, I wouldn't suggest iRecord.
- da5id, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I heard they were making an iPod shuffle iVibe for, well, you know ...
- irregardless, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17-11
The LOW END imac can make an ipod-compatible file in about 50-75% of a dvd's running time. - haggie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1-It doesn't have internal storage so your device has to be connected.
-It's real-time and can't convert files
-It can't be scheduled to record at specific times/channels
-You'll need to sit next to the device as it records. Why not just watch the friggin' show?
But considering the average iPod owner, if iRecord can come up with a really good marketing campaign, iPodders will buy it no matter how overpriced and overhyped it is and iRecord can sell a new one to the same owners each quarter by making minor product changes. - israr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0But iluv records only MPEG4, and it can record to iPod only. While this device records H.264, and it can record to iPod/PSP as well as any usb mass storage device, like flash drive, usb hard disk. You can even record to SD, Compact Flash or memory stick via USB adapters.
There is a huge difference between H.264, and MPEG4 video quality(at same bitrates). - annalaurab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It seems really neat albeit expensive.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Recording directly to my widescreen Archos has been possible for two yrs. Mac users get excited over something PC users have had for a long time. Why would I want to watch TV on the ***** `lil ipud screen ?
- molespf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Someone should tell them that iPods can do 640x480 now.
- newsmaker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Official Apple approved Recorder iLuv i180!

So much recordng in so less space ,its marvelous ,and worth 199$. Atleast i no more need to buy music , which i think should be free. Great product !!!
