- MrWizzle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Won't even start on mine. Pah, I suck.
- truax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Will my QuickTime auto update to 7?
- G-RaZoR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0H.264 for windows!! w00t!
- Aflat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It was taking about 30-60% CPU (dual Xenon, 2gig ram)when watching a 1080p trailer. One thing I love, being able to jump around (fast forward, rewind)the video even as it is downloading.
- Room101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Seemed pretty buggy to me. The time indicator moved off the screen. I'm waiting for an official release.
- darkpeer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0installed it & it looks good... I also like the fact you don't need net access to install anymore
- Strooperman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, the HD codec requires a lot of CPU cycles. I have a AMD 2500XP with Raptor drive and gig of ram and can only play the 480P version of the Batman Begins trailer smoothly.
- CoreBurn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Installed fine, normal vids seem to play fine, but how come the buttons on Apple's HD pages don't do anything?
- psycho_on_e, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have an Athlon XP 2800+ Barton OC to 2.27 GHz with 1.5 GB of memory and when I watch systm on Quick Time 7, my CPU utilization is anywhere from 85% to 100%.
However, when I watch it on my tablet which has a Pentium M 1.6GHz Dothan core with 512GB of memory the CPU utilization is only 30% to 50%.
I can run 720p no problem on my tablet even at high resolutions with a second monitor attached but my desktop simply can't play it.
The video clip I used was the NASA Space Shuttle on Apple's HD Gallery.
I think some optimizations need to be made for Athlon processors. - tarun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i had to uninstall quicktime 6 before installing q7 before it worked
- boolean, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0didn't start on my machine
- siouxmoux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Now if apple would come out with an optimized that would run on my slow amd xp 1700. I have no problems with playing back xvid files on my system so apple has no rescuse of not working out all of kinks for next quicktime 7 for windows
- brucebeh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wow.. they really need to optimize this for windows. I cant even watch a 720p movie smoothly on my amd 3200+.
but wmvHD looks amaaazing on my machine. - ccrook, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, this definately needs optimization. 2.4ghz p4 1.5gb ram and its not too smooth. 1080p was just painful.
- ryanwarren, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't know if it was installing it or my stupidity but when I installed QuickTime 7 preview version iTunes stopped working and QuickTime wouldn't even open.
- wahooka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+03Ghz P4 with 1 Gig of DDR2 Ram... 1080p was very choppy. i think they better fix keep working on it
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Working fine here on a 3.2 P4 1GB RAM. No audio though, but that's 'cause I haven't installed my audio drivers yet :P.
- Dotdotdot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have a 2.4 GHz P4 HT with 1 GB of RAM and everything played perfectly, except for the H.264 resizing thing - I needed to pause it and not resize it live. Official release should help, however.
- nextsteposx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks great and not that great of a CPU required
- willij, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Laugh at me or cry with me. 866 Mhz, 256 Meg Ram, and DSL and it looks terrible. Regular videos are playing fine. I could not even watch Kevin Rose's Systm video. It is crap.
- willij, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not talking about Kevin Rose. I am talking about Quicktime 7. Thought I better clear that up.
- LordHalo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Installation and setup is a breeze. Test drive with my Dell Inspiron 9300 with 512mb DDR2 RAM, Pentium M 760 and 256mb Nvidia 6800 GO....priceless. No choppiness even watching 720p. Resolution is set at 1900 x 1200
- AdamWillis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I could only get 720p, but I haven't yet tried the 1080p. my monitor resolution max is 1280 x 1024 so it just barley fits the width. seems to run fine like that, though I'm pissed that i bought 6.5pro right before i knew they were even planning 7 (to view new QT material, you have to install the new version) and now because i upgraded I lose all the features i paid for, why cant the upgrade leave you old features and make you pay again if you want the new ones? not that expensive, but I'm only 17 and don't have a credit card at hand, so its a pain.
- m4v1s, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0mobile athlon 64 3200+ 512RAM all of the HD trailers played smooth and looked better that DVDs (duh)
h.264 has been available on windows since it was developed, see moonlight cordless' h.264 player - dubya, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My question is when will quicktime alternative have support for h.264?
