Pwned iPhone 2.0 to 1.1.4 Downgrade
sleepers.net — Here are the steps for a successful 2.0 to 1.1.4 downgrade for those of you that updated to 2.0 and realized what a mistake it was. (Thanks goes to Geeb for finding the iTunes 7.5 solution, Thanks goes to Crumpx for the pwnage method). Note that this has been performed on a PC.

- Esemono, on 07/12/2008, -0/+0Dugg! It worked for me! Thanks!
- bartfat, on 07/12/2008, -0/+0have to remember that DFU is NOT the same as restore... the iphone SCREEN should be BLANK, not have any itunes/cable icon in it... and then you can follow the instructions :)
- davejruk, on 07/13/2008, -0/+0After messing around for over a day with different methods of updates, this seems to work perfectly. Its the first time my iphone got past the error 20 when trying to downgrade. I agree with bartfat, it is IMPORTANT to remember that DFU isn't the normal recovery mode (Where you hold down home whilst plugging in) but you plug in the iphone and power off (the iphone). Then hold down power and home for exactly 10 seconds then let go and itunes will open (and nothing will be on your iphone screen).
Thanks for the tutorial!! - daffy34duck, on 07/13/2008, -0/+0I can't seem to get past the Error 5 when using boot neuter. I tried baseband erase and restore, but nothing id working. Any suggestions for those that have been able to fix their iphones?
- fastly, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1This worked for me too... You can quickly enter and exit DFU mode using iLiberty+. It's also easy to downgrade the bootloader. It was worth checking out AppStore out of curiosity, but there are some killer apps that I can't live without that are only available via Installer (e.g. NemusSync to sync with Google Calendar and a Last.fm Mobile Scrobbler that actually works in the background). Looking forward to AppStore and Installer living side-by-side in the not too distant future...
- dayoneneo, on 07/16/2008, -0/+0i cant even figure out how to downgrade itunes using terminal, everytime i put "killall ituneshelper" it says command dosent exist or somthing, im really frutrated and my phone hasnt worked in like 2 days can somone help me?
- walter071, on 07/16/2008, -0/+0it did not work for me, I put it in the DFU mode but could not restore the iPhone it says "TO restore the iPhone you will need the newer version of iTunes" Please help......
- walter071, on 07/17/2008, -0/+0I got it now, but I got error 5 when I ran bootneuter:(( Anything I can do now??
- Onji38, on 07/18/2008, -0/+0I upgraded to 7.7 and now my phone won't work (I unlocked it originally for T-mobile). I uninstalled 7.7 and re-downloaded 7.5, but when I open it, it says "the itunes library can't be opened because it was done by a newer version". After I click "ok" the box just closes.
I tried doing the DFU a few times the way the tutorial says, but that didn't work. I also tried to use iliberty+ for the DFU, but it doesn't recognize my phone and it won't do anything :(
Also, my phone is just black...even when I reconnect and take it off it doesn't do anything....
Ideas?? - Laura79, on 07/18/2008, -0/+0I am also having same problems as Onji38, I followed instructions carefully, but iTunes won't restore iPhone (..software not available, please check that you are using the latest version of iTunes..). I checked also that my phone was definitely on DFU mode. Please help!
