- Antialias, on 10/12/2007, -18/+52And then there is the pilgrimage where you must go at least once during your life, circle the cube 7 times, and throw stones at the giant stone pillar symbolizing Microsoft.
- bramkok, on 07/02/2009, -4/+38You just have to wait for a group of drunk kids with bricks and that beauty is gone.
- picaman, on 10/12/2007, -3/+35One word: pigeons.

- itistoday, on 10/12/2007, -5/+25@chicken101:
Minor nitpick, it's a 1.83 Ghz Core Duo processor. - chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -12/+29Yeah seriously, not to mention most of their packaging is recycled now -- idiot. We should be more concerned with the big SUVs wasting gas anyway, if you actually cared about the environment.
Macs aren't really that expensive, $1099 for a Macbook with a 1.6ghz core duo is a fair deal in my book. - jarcoal, on 10/12/2007, -10/+26hmm apple brand prayer mats, that's a million dollars right there :)
- jkenneth, on 10/12/2007, -9/+21What's a dup?
- tsunamisteve, on 10/12/2007, -9/+21This sounds like a gig for David Blaine. "And now, witness a human being pushed to the limits, living inside a glass cube for TWO WHOLE DAYS before Apple opens the store!"
- m00nmaster, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17That glass is probably 4 inches thick and bullet/brick proof. It's an Apple store, and they have expensive stuff waiting to be stolen in on of the largest cities on Earth.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16seriously. I give it a month before its vandalized
- gunnerycox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Here is an amazing set from someone inside the store! 83 gorgeous pics
http://flickr.com/photos/neps/sets/72057594138660723/show/ - SteveMunoz, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13Just an off the wall thought, but wouldn't it suck for chicks wearing dresses if the floor is see-thru. All the patrons in the store will get a free show.
- phbradley, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7spraypaint...
- gr8one, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Maybe it's just me, but I really don't understand the big deal with this glass cube that Steve is so bent on. I'm a huge apple fan, but I'm kind of tire of hearing about this glorified door which he designed himself. For crying out loud it's just a glass box with a hole in the bottom.
- tizz66, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9I wouldn't like to recieve their window cleaning bill... Pretty cool though.
- Craptacular, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8As long as the Apple cube doesn't develop "hairline surface cracks."

- MSStategrad2001, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Hey cerisaac, if I could speel "spell", then I know I could dupe a "dup".

http://www.appleinsider.com/article.php?id=1759 - monkeyrun, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9lol, that might be a problem
- everfalling, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6glass glass glass. always glass! buttons are glass, the menus are glass, the window borders are glass, their products look like opaque glass or plastic toys, now their 'flag ship' building is a buncha glass panels! PICK A NEW MATERIAL. it was pretty and interesting 4 years ago, but not anymore. Even microsoft is going that way too. who cares if my GUI can reflect and prism everything around it in real time or otherwise? it doesn't get my ***** done faster! what am i? a child? do i really need the pretty colors? the light effects? the rounded off plastic looking everything? jesus. at least with windows everything was nice and bold, riged and straight edged. you knew where things were, where you could and couldn't press. i'm getting sick of this stuff. i know i sound like an old man going 'in my day..!' but common.
- Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3$1/year plus stock? Maybe you don't realize it, but income from exercising stock options can be easily manipulated to be tax free, and if they pay no dividends, he's probably making millions a year without paying any kind of tax at all. So much for the appearance of selflessness.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6screw the cube, the inside of that store looks insane
- chris4404, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Am I the only one who reminded of Anchor Man?
"Help I'm trapped in a glass case of emotion!"
My take on things.
http://www.ctrlaltdel-online.com/comics/20060513.jpg - whisperedlie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3now you know where the premium price of apple hardware is going to.
- inane, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Maybe you should try Linux. No store, no flashy face man, no glass cubes, just an OS and a penguin.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5In about a week every tagger in the neighborhood will have etched their names on the glass.....i hope they get the worst case of herpes ever.
- Norante, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I foresee Apple fankids in pilgrimage from all over the country only to touch the cube once in their lifetimes. On the way out, they buy all the Apple white glossy memmorablia that street vendors on sleek white hip tents will be selling.
Jobs, yer such a shrewd man. - mark1372, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The elevator is in the glass tube the staircase wraps around. It's a hydraulic platform; not cabled.
- JoshuaWood, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6That is an amazing piece of architecture. The huge cube functions as a skylight to brighten and warm what otherwise would be a cold underground space. Usually no matter how you light and define an underground space they tend to still have a cave feeling. This feels expansive. I'm not an apple user (other than my ipod), but next trip to the city I'll definetly check out this store, just to experience the architecture. Well done.
- tileeater, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4this reminds me of some pretentious christo art experiment
- mark1372, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I. M. Pei, the architect who created the Louvre pyramids, was born in China.
- enjayenel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Huht? Macs don't get attention?
- anonymonk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2So what's this called?
The MacLouvre Pro??? - hunchback, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2If colleges has glass staircases, you know where the boys at.
- Ilyanep, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2So I guess Apple shouldn't be throwing anymore stones.
- marathon851, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1exactly
- everfalling, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@phbradley i predict they wont stop with the white and glossy stuff till all their stores look like the detention center in the movie THX 1138, with white everywhere.
- Sippi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yeah, will need to have a pressure washer on hand 24/7.
- inane, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4If you people would do a little homework you'd see that recycling paper products is actually more damaging to the environment than making new. It just sounds so much nicer to recycle than cut down poor trees which were planted and grown specifically for making paper.
- wehrmanweb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Sunlight + glass = HOT... Would hate to pay the bill that cools the place.
- A-money, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@minoss
It only comes in white... and black - tehJR, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6you guys are idiots...(not jkenneth)
It's Dupe, not dup. - phbradley, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2a lot of the market is driven by the impulses you claim not to have though. Do you really think Apple are making a bad move here?
As for the store, I find it a little bit pretentious really, but I suppose for the time being that'll just translate as classy, in most people's eyes. This is part and parcel of the premium you pay on apple goods, they can't (and won't) stop until it consumes them - noeljohnhoward, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes but is a citizen of WHAT country
- alej744, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3"spraypaint..."
ooh that's gotta hurt - bdbr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The inside just looks like a bigger version of any other Apple store.
