- pyro116, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8I'm the guy who wrote this blog post, and honestly, I have no beef with Gruber. I still disagree with the visciousness of his post, considering that his numbers were kind of really off (to his credit, it wasn't his fault... guesswork was necessary when most of the devs didn't talk to him). But, we've talked, and he'll be trying to make it to the party. And I have no problems with Gus Mueller, the developer who kind of started the whole controversy. We've also talked, made peace, he'll be showing up to the party, and everything.
I realized that it's just Paul, and literally just him, that I have issues with. Why? Well, here's one piece of anecdotal evidence. When I asked Gruber / Gus if they'd be open to talking about it, they were, and as I said, smoothed over some things, and at least came to a better understanding of each of our positions, and left "shaking hands" if you will, via email.
Paul, on the other hand, did not do me that courtesy. I remember emailing him asking him if he'd be open to a few minutes of chatting the night before he posted the article. (A mutual developer friend passed it along to us.) Paul's reply went along the lines of, "You weren't supposed to see this, as it's not public. And no, I don't have five minutes to chat. Busy."
You know what? That hurt. And it's partially (a tiny, tiny party) of why I'm, yes, bitter to a degree in this post. (Though I have edited it to tone it down.)
With all of that having been said, in my mind, I still see the ideal situation involving 'peace' between the two of us, so I am offering him a great opportunity to patch things up and come out looking great. There are things he could say in five minutes that would make things OK, get the crowd on his side, and hell, make me look like a whiny kid. But you know what? If he does that, and there's at least the slightest bit of sincerity, I'll take that, shake hands, and move on. - Syndrome, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4I'd hardly call them attacks, they have some valid points, especially John Gruber.
- koregaonpark, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4FYI: Kevin Rose and the Digg team are gonna be there.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2If this is anything like their software it will be all flash and no substance. Everyone will turn up just for the freebies and will head home before it's even dark.
If it's anything like My Dream App, the party won't take place at all in homage to the unfinished software :)
I don't see why it matters that Kevin Rose will be there, is he the ultimate party goer or something? - DudeRoks, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2Mac has always been an eye candy, and I don't mean that in a bad way.
