- dan21328, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Though I'm an Apple fan, I must ask this...do you guys have anything better to do than to spend all your time watching the patent site for new stuff from Apple?
- nsummy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Actually MrBabyMan the only reason your story is going to hit the homepage is because you have all of your friends digg it, just like all of your other stories. I'll admit a lot of your stories are good, but on the same token, many of them would never get popular without your digging network.
- 1jaxstate1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Salling Clicker
Romeo - GopherChucks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Salling Clicker will do this, using a wide array of devices and wireless technologies. If this functionality DIDN'T exist with the iPhone, I'd be surprised.
- geekee, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Another frivolous patent from Apple.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Babyman...give it the ***** up. Peopel are not digging your stories becuase they are good. (Again, some are.) People are digging them without lookoing at them at all. And you know damn well that is true.
You have dedicated your otherwise worthless life to "win" Digg, which is really sad. Your prize for winning is a lifetime of virginity and humiliation. - Flipswitch, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I can already do this with my year old sony ericsson phone, but if it displayed a live image of your computer screen that would be damn cool.
- mooninite, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The ability to control apps via bluetooth is nothing new. I controlled my Linux machine (XMMS at the time) with my Nokia 6230 several years ago. I hope this patent prediction is far from true...
- gaervern, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I want to use my smartphone as a bluetooth-remote for the PS3. If it also could work as a remote for the media center PC, I wouldn't have to move again ever, and would die happily, but all to soon.
- mechanisma22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I hope they alow application development for the iPhone because I had an idea that you could do home automation via an iPhone and a Mac. You could unlock your house with touch of a button on the iPhone either over the secure house wifi. But two things, I doubt Apple will alow anybody to make iPhone apps, and second it would be a hack to get a Mac to do home automation. My decision to purchase the iPhone is based on Apple having more available apps than just what they announced at Macworld. They are announcing the iPhone at a developer conference I would guess they would let you develop apps since it still runs OS X with cocoa.
- Legolover64, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2zomg VNC for the iPhone...
Actually, controlling it through BlueTooth would be badass. Think a Keynote remote with notes and things live with the slides... - PatentMagus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I just scanned the app. The word phone is mentioned once and that is the background section. The most important part of any patent is the claims and not the rest (called the specification). The specification's sole purpose is to support the claims.
The first claim covers a remote control that can control a "media center". Logitec has had that on the market for a very long time. Come to think of it, any remote that turns off/on multiple devices is sufficient prior art to reject this app. The filing date is 2005, so too recent to submarine a plethora of devices.
This patent application is lame. - mwdcodeninja, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1add an IR port and it's the Apple Universal iRemote
- bimtott, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Patent applications are not oracles of future products, they are just a company's attempts to hedge against 3rd party add-ons, knock-offs, and derivatives. Apple may put this in as an iPhone feature, or it may not. With a patent, Apple is free to research and develop this, without the risk of a 3rd party company beating them to it (or suing them after the fact).
A patent is an indication that Apple CAN make something, not that they will. - Jarasmen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2So? I can control my PC with my SE k750i no problem. It's not that hard to do. You got a mobile device that can connect via Bluetooth. You got a computer with Bluetooth support. It's magic I tell ya!
In other news: Patent app hints at mouse controlling PC, Winamp. - NJHewitt, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Aren't patents meant to be original? I've done this last year with a Sony Ericsson phone and Toshiba tablet.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Whoo hoo! TWO idiotic predictions based on patent filings. The average success rate of predictions based on patent filing interpretation is about 1%.

Apple is out-of-its mind with all this patent squatting. Who are they kidding? - trendy, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4dupe from

Comments like this show how little you understand Digg. Digg is all about your network of friends. Digging cool stories your friends submit is hard-wired into Digg and what raises it above a site such as Slashdot. I don't make anyone digg my submissions, nor do I ask them to. What's particularly telling about your comment is that you yourself currently have befriended noone. Do you wonder why more of your stories haven't been seen by many Digg users? - MrBabyMan, on 10/12/2007, -12/+5You just duped your own comment (See how annoying it is to be 'dupe policed'?)

- mtownand1, on 10/12/2007, -11/+1edit: ummmm... digg me down please, and ummm we need a picture section?
- MrBabyMan, on 10/12/2007, -12/+2The link you referred never hit the homepage. There's still a chance for this cool story to go noticed however, by digging my submission.
