- socivitus, on 07/16/2009, -3/+47My iPod hates Nickelback too.
- trendygamer, on 07/16/2009, -5/+36Hi, I'm a PC. And I'm a Mac....and I freakin EXPLODE.
Kinda takes away from the effectiveness of the ads. - Lane, on 07/16/2009, -4/+27Apple can get away with notebooks and mp3 players literally exploding and catching on fire but still have fanatics swearing up and down they use the best parts in manufacturing products!
- WordsnCollision, on 07/15/2009, -3/+25Is owning a Nano a no-no?
- FUR10N, on 07/16/2009, -2/+19I might have to replace my Xbox 360 every other week, but at least it doesn't explode
- Urgoz, on 07/16/2009, -0/+17It must have been Michael Bay's iPod.
- EskNerd, on 07/16/2009, -3/+19An iPod isn't a Mac. For an exploding Mac, there'd have to be some kind of problem with exploding laptop batteries--oh, right.
- chooochooo, on 07/15/2009, -4/+14Apple Inc. should recall those models.. I think waring is not enough!
- rjshatz, on 07/16/2009, -0/+10I just wanted my Easy Mac to have some company in the microwave, I never thought this would happen!
- KibibyteBrain, on 07/16/2009, -0/+8Anything that is a fire hazard should be recalled. Recalls are not like warranties, they aren't about business sense, they are about ethical and legal responsibility of public safety. If Apple releases a product that is dangerous, it is unethical to just let it go. /commonsense
- WaKluk, on 07/16/2009, -1/+9wtf is "Lrn2English"? l2l2
sorry for being such a nazi - WordsnCollision, on 07/15/2009, -1/+8Definitely do not ware them.
- serif69, on 07/16/2009, -1/+7OH NO COCO OWNS NO NANO
- iDiggr, on 07/16/2009, -0/+6No, this iPod did not have video capabilities. Next question.
- insomniasystems, on 07/16/2009, -0/+5So in japan they explode, but in Ireland they save you from lightning, and in the US they stop bullets... Interesting
Steve Jobs must hate Japan... : ( - TobiasParker, on 07/16/2009, -0/+5They can just sell them to the Taliban.
Call them: iEd's
oh wait - TheRedeemer, on 07/16/2009, -1/+5Bro's a no-no for Co-Co?!
- doshindude, on 07/16/2009, -0/+4I think everyone does, it's ok.
- djphilos, on 07/17/2009, -0/+3Thats what happens when you play Jonas Brothers on it.
- bumblefluff, on 07/21/2009, -0/+3The smaller these kinds of devices become the less heat sink and dissipation they have. I am not surprised that this happened.
- vrikis, on 07/16/2009, -0/+3it's more of a nich nich
- jondan, on 07/17/2009, -0/+3"Mommy I want an iPlode for Christmas!"
- jdryyz, on 07/16/2009, -0/+3So is this just affecting 1st Gen iPod Nanos sold in Japan? The model numbers listed in this article do not show the model A1137 that I have. What is also strange is that my searches turned up articles describing the exact same thing happening in August of last year. This isn't just some lame repost, is it?
- andyrunner, on 07/16/2009, -0/+3It was overrated. My 1st gen nano froze up all the time and got super scratched up pretty easily. I think there was even a class action law suit over it. I still own and use a second gen nano and after 3 years it still looks and works like new.
- s32843, on 07/16/2009, -0/+2Apple doesn't pay minimal wages to Chinese workers in their iPhone & iPod plants. Chinese media report Apple's labour practices for years. See this:
http://tinyurl.com/kpox3y - linas199, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2OMG Apple are so smart! That's their secret weapon against Asia and Sony. Killing them off slowly one by one or turning them deaf and blind at least, hoping no one would notice... Well, *****...
- straylight08, on 07/16/2009, -3/+5For some reason i read "overrated" instead of "overheated" when i first saw this
- damnshoes, on 07/16/2009, -0/+2iBoom
- pHr34kY, on 07/16/2009, -0/+2So, the ONLY popular music player that isn't built in Japan is copping bad press in Japan. I love this lengths they go to in a recession. If it were a walkman or something this would not have made news.
- JDanner3, on 07/16/2009, -0/+2I thought maybe it was because Buddy Rich was doing a solo.
- TheGuruStud, on 07/16/2009, -0/+2Many more than that overheat; those 19 catastrophically failed which could cause serious property damage or even death. Apple would have a great time in court if one of these kills someone.
- Pulsedriv3r, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2I award you many measurable units of Internets.
- protogenxl, on 07/16/2009, -0/+2Does Nickelback Blend?
I know Creed does
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XJVuf3RxEs - Brasolis, on 07/17/2009, -0/+1The one band that would have to pay me to pirate their music...
- jpartridge, on 07/16/2009, -0/+1There you go being technical. I didn't realize that was still acceptable on digg.
- insertAliasHere, on 07/16/2009, -0/+1Nanos do not and have never required apple headphones. The shuffle is what you are thinking of.
- insertAliasHere, on 07/16/2009, -0/+1There was a class action suit. I got a card in the mail telling me I was eligible for about $22. I believe that the settlement was for about $20 million.
- handheldchimp, on 07/16/2009, -8/+9BREAKING: CONTAMINATED BATTERIES MAY EXPLODE!!!
- insertAliasHere, on 07/16/2009, -1/+2"They make the best products on the planet, hands down and far away."
Well, you had started out so well, I was with you 'till that sentence. - JDanner3, on 07/16/2009, -0/+1Uh oh, CO-CO does the No No for Nano
- macinit1138, on 07/18/2009, -0/+1If you sell enough devices that use a battery...do the math. But in this case, it sounds more like an urban legend than a problem; documented or not.
- Rotzooi, on 07/16/2009, -0/+1There should be a 1/2 point thumbs-up for comments like this. I'm a sucker for bad puns, but this scores mostly for trying.
- 7aji, on 07/17/2009, -0/+1I got one too, but I didn't send it back because I thought nothing would happen. My 1st gen nano's chrome back is scratched like hell even thought I never placed it with my keys in the same pocket and the click-wheel doesn't work anymore :(
- rhkenji, on 07/16/2009, -1/+2its a feature not a fault you know like every other apple faults
- 7aji, on 07/17/2009, -0/+1Mr Diggr, over here.
My question is: were your nick name "iDiggr" and iNiz made for each other, or is it just a coincidence? - Pulsedriv3r, on 07/17/2009, -0/+1wut.
- inactive, on 07/17/2009, -0/+0It's the iPod that is all things to all people. It's every man's MP3 player... and so much more! ;-)
- iNiz, on 07/16/2009, -3/+3Video..?
- lostngone, on 07/16/2009, -2/+2Good on Apple! It not only explodes but it catches fire as well!
