- moojj, on 10/11/2007, -14/+56Ok, so they aren't official. Cool nonetheless.
- supermanred, on 10/11/2007, -2/+23Wow. The same menu I get if I click APPLE, Mac OSX software, except it took me more clicks to get there.
This isnt a story. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+25That's why I buried you.
- choopie911, on 10/11/2007, -5/+23How the hell is this front page? This isn't a story, this isn't even knew, or hard to find.
- theblueprint, on 10/11/2007, -6/+20Another good resource for Mac icons:
http://interfacelift.com/icons-mac/index.php?sort=date
Personally, I'm using this set (not from the link):
http://www.artofadambetts.com/weblog/?p=190
Also, if you're looking for a free icon replacement program, I use this one:
http://www.freemacsoft.net/LiteIcon_en.html - Xenogis, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13This is the Apple section.
I get so sick of comments like that. - node3, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10Definitely cool, but had to bury for inaccuracy.
Would totally digg an accurate resubmission though! - TheWorm, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8Don't bury. It's still cool that Apple is embracing the little guys that make stuff for their operating system on their official website.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8That story sucked.
- tomis, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Bury. Misleading title. This is just an icon section at apple's software listings site. These are in no way "Official Apple Icons", just choose Apple menu> MacOS X Software, it will take you to this site. Cool yes. But it's nothing special.
- quikboy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4The reason why this is on the front page, is simply because a great majority of the users on Digg are Apple users. I hate to be blunt, but it's true.
That's pretty much the reason why there always seems to be at least one Apple post on the frontpage, every hour, while there's a scarcity of anything related to Microsoft. - MattGilley, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5And how does this qualify as news, that page has been there for a damn long time.
- jasonpoon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4The icon and screensaver section has already been in the apple download page for a very long time...
- koregaonpark, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Thanks for the link to LiteIcon... I've been looking for a free icon replacement app for so long. Btw, I've submitted it to Digg: http://digg.com/apple/LiteIcon_A_free_Mac_app_to_change_system_icons
- macijuana, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4and much less expensive in most cases.
- astrosmash, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4You overestimate digg readers.
And digg isn't a news site. It's a social bookmarking site (with a lousy comment system). - superrcat, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7Why the hell did this make it to the front page?! This is nothing but a link to Apple's software listing for 3rd parties.
- milodeescorpion, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5how did this even get to the front page?
do people even read the descriptions - blurplevtx, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3iconfactory has better collections
- MikeyMoose, on 01/30/2009, -0/+3These aren't "Official Apple Icons" Laaaaammmmeeee....
- mal1964, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6Where are the apples?
- zwilliams, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7Okay, I'm a dedicated Mac User and even I find this beyond stupid. Why is this even let through? Apple has offered downloads practically since Apple.com was registered. What is the damn point in this?
- caliform, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Thanks, I guess; I'm the author of the "War on Bad Design" iconset that's on there :).
- caffeinelover, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Apple was in the title. The AppleBots automatically digg.
- richardyork, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2You don't need anything special to save to PNG, open the icns file in Preview then save it as a PNG.
- shadyk8o, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2This is not news! these have always been there!
- rspeed, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3No *****!
- williamkusumo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Found a good and free one if you are on Windows. Icon Sushi: http://www.towofu.net/soft/e-aicon.php
- sfeldy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Here too by clicking win or tux icons.
http://fasticon.com/freeware/?p=56 - itsthinking, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Anyone know where to get the official ones or replacement ones? I used CandyBar to put new icons on and then I wanted to revert but had troubles and now I can't get back the original icons!
- theblueprint, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3 I haven't found a way to copy/paste a new Finder icon, which is what got me into icon replacement in the first place.
I've used Liteicon for a while now, and it's served me well. It's free, and I've installed all of the system updates the day they come out. No problems, at least not yet.
Then again, if there's a copy/paste method for the Finder let me know. I would prefer to do it that way. - shlos, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2how do i use these icons? i know its a novice question but not all digg users are as computer savvy.
- pixelsoup, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1See "dyranios" thread above
- Takuro, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Pixadex is the easiest way to extract ICNS icons and export to PNG and stuff.
- itsthinking, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I would like to know as well as I screwed up some things with CandyBar and now I'm stuck with an icon set. I just want my originals back! Anyone help?
- davin510, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3Damn. You almost got a digg until you mispelled "new"
- ttfadia, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1I just did "Finder" => "Get Info" in Quicksilver and got a normal Info window.
It's in "System/Library/CoreServices/" if you want find it yourself. - spideyman, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Where are the ones that say "Apple Sucks!!"?
- macha, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Do the icons work on Ubuntu?
- MattBlackCat, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2Or the one that says "Official Apple Spammer"
Burried for being spam - BeingHuman, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2Why can't Microsoft just suck?
(Thats a real question, btw.) - Youssif, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1System Requirements

- gregulate, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2I never knew about this at least, so thanks for the up.
- diabulos, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Funny, we Vista users are cooing over dreamscene was great, after all it is even an extra, shows off what Vista can do...the serene screen saver seems to do the same thing for the Mac with little fanfare
- williamkusumo, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1How do I get the PNG version of these icons?
- Dolomite, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2Yay for Apple!!!! This is why Web 2.0 is so good for the Blogosphere!!!!!! Come on diggers, show your stuff and digg this up!
