Official: 16GB iPhone available and 32GB iPod touch, $499

engadget.com — Out of the rumor mill comes the 16GB iPhone, now official. Ever since the 16GB iPod touch was announced in September, we all knew it was just a matter of time until Apple could bung the same NAND chip into their chubbier iPhone. The Surprise is a new 32GB iPod touch for the same $499. Both are available immediately.

    So i guess the touch uses 2 16GB chips rather than one 32GB chip?Can anyone confirm this?

No iProduct will hold my entire music and video collection, so moving things on and off it don't really bother me, especially since the 1.1.3 firmware update allows for manual management. It holds plenty of music for getting to and from work, and for any longer trips I will generally grab my laptop. 16 GB would be nice, and 32 GB in the iPod Touch may cause it to eat into the Nano market, in my opinion - yes, it costs a LOT more, but I think there is a segment out there that wants the nice touch screen with a relatively large amount of storage (and apparently Apple thinks so, too!)
