- jonnyeh, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Some of us are still on 2400 baud modems! You insensitive clod!
- sjons, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Sweet, works great, even picks up cities nearby, some bands it said were mine weren't though, i.e. Aiden, when all I have is Maiden in my Library
- jollyroger814, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16aiden is such a horrible band. i would delete it immediately.
- StarManta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8JPigford, he said MOST. This is by all accounts, true; you just happen to be in the minority.
If he'd said "everyone downloads songs illegally", then you could rightly berate him. - devindotcom, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Thanks, man, for fighting the good fight.
- turpenine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6i do believe you meant to say the label profits off the cd, and they don't need money anyways.
- TheCheeks, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8pretty nice app, most people download songs illegally now, which i think exposes a lot of new talent that people never knew about, making it more likely to goto a concert!
- ph33d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Doesn't seem to work. On my machine it simply presents a solid black block with the logo. I'm using a dual 2 GHz G5 Power Mac with 10.4.8. I suppose the site feeding the information could be dugg...
- warbird, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Wdigets faster than light?
- jacksim, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I would love to see an international version of this. It only lists shows in the US (at least for now).
- jonnyeh, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Try this version then: http://www.passalongnetworks.com/corp_ontour.html
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4WTF, this doesn't work. It's totally inaccurate... it shows a band playing, you follow the link, and the website lists it as playing nowhere near there.
- StarManta, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4size? it's 92 kb...
- mightymouse, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9Doesnt work with canada, lame.
- flypcide, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Why oh why can't people stop making us read their blog in order to get to the real download. Check your ego at the door, we want the download, not the redundancy of reading the story on digg, then having to go to your blog, and then having to go to apple to download.
- Joeymad, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Maybe he meant the physical size on screen. e.g. 400x200 or whatever. If a widget took up too much space then I would be pissed too.
- darthtrevino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You would think they get paid, but in fact they get a loan from the record company and access to a studio. Artists have to make that money back via touring and promotions. In the end though, they might get a sliver or royalties from the album sales.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Pretty sweet idea, but it's already not picking up bands that are in my iTunes library (and I have about 70GBs of music, and live near San Francisco) so I know for a fact that a lot of bands in my iTunes have shows coming up, especially since i'm going to 3 of them.
- test5477, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Works great for me, found two shows i did not know about. Great idea and good looking app. +digg definately.
- Omega697, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I get the same.
- truthisjustalie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Same here - iMac G5 2 GHz.
- r©ain, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Best
widget
evar!
Thank you thank you thank you!
Seriously, even though I get out almost every night, I am into obscure and more cutting edge acts that play smaller venues and don't get much press, so it can be hard to keep up on all the bands I'm into and who's playing where and when. I had a huge list of happenings pop up in 10 seconds flat and this has just made planning my nights so much easier, and my nights so much cooler. Now If I could only find a way to get this to groove with iCal so I could sync it via bluetooth to my cell for access while I'm out and about. I mean hell, meet a chick at a bar and say hey "x band is playing at club z right now, let's jet" .. that would be the ultimate. - Migdilio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2A great idea that still needs some work. I don't own any songs by Insane Clown Posse or Cannibal Corpse, yet the widget displays their concerts. Hopefully the accuracy will be tweaked in future revisions.
- TheNik, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Actually, artists get paid before they even make the album.
1. Sign Contract
2. Get Paid
3. Make Album
4. ???
5. Profit - For the labels. - ph33d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2WARNING! I just checked Activity Monitor. Every instance of the widget that I started remained as a hung process...even after I deleted the widget. The widget process consistently hangs along with osascript. My guess is that there's a bug in the way the widget looks through the iTunes database. It's going in the Trash, thanks anyway!
- U8IK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It should be stated though, that the information limits only to concerts taking place in US.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/12/2007, -12/+133000 songs?
That's not really a badge of accomplishment. What is that 230 albums? Big deal. I'm sick of these clean cut douches that think piracy is bad. Do you have any idea who gets the money from a CD sale? The only people who profit off this ***** are the artists who don't need money in the first place. - jaspeers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It displays concerts by those bands under "All Artists." Look above that, where it lists "My Artists."
It confused me for a second too. For the exact same reason it confused you (ICP? WTF?). - bhock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1same problem here...i thought maybe it was just taking awhile to scan my itunes library, but it's been 10 minutes and still nothing
- puffinfresh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's the same for me on my 12inch 1.5 G4 Powerbook. I'm in Australia though, so it doesn't look like it would work for me anyway. Cool idea though.
- gfreak49, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I get a lot of random free songs from iTunes, like the single of the week and samplers from facebook, but not all things that I want to show up. The one problem I find is that there's no way to really customize what it picks up from your library.
- bwjacket, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2not working on my g4 pb
- yllabianbitpipe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I as well. Doesn't work for me.
Maybe all my music is too old or obscure so none of the artists are touring :) - warbird, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Actually, there is no step #4
- truthisjustalie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1here is another version that does work. plus it is lacking some of the more annoying features.
http://www.filefactory.com/file/342aed/ - lskywalker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Doesnt work with canada, lame."
Just go to www.rush.com. Celine Dion moved to the US. - elebrio, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Now if it could only automatically buy me concert tickets: http://www.viagogo.co.uk/Concert-Tickets
- jesushouston, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There is a standalone application for both OS X and Windows:
http://www.passalongnetworks.com/corp_ontour.html
They cull the concert information from Pollstar for better or worse:
http://www.pollstar.com - PandaParts, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Same as above. Mirror door G4 running 10.4.8...
- glafira, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Cant beleive somebody didnt think of this sooner.
- gizma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is a similar app for the UK and Ireland
http://www.bebopular.com/ - metricoclock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Excellent idea, but it is not function and hanging up processes in a good few peoples computers, along a decent range in hardware too.
It wiould be nice if some of these companies that create widgets checked up in the comments when the get dugg. - r©ain, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1STFU ungrateful cretin
- kevets, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Widgets FTL
- psbpv3o, on 10/12/2007, -9/+8Damn, I don't have a mac but I really would like this feature. I'm a big fan of live shows and go to atleast two a month.
- ipsophatso, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I love Untitled! Their new Untitled tour with P3arl J4m is going to rock!
- skidogallard, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2That is a pretty cool widget! Very nice, the only thing I can complain about is the size. But all around very nice!
- cannibaljp, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2greatness.pure, greatness.
