- jads, on 07/10/2008, -1/+110inaccurate - it peaked at 13,000 page requests a second - not orders.
- MyNameIsJoe, on 07/09/2008, -3/+8213,000 per second? At that rate the entire population of the United Kingdom could sign up in 77 minutes.
- jakatak, on 07/10/2008, -2/+40BREAKING NEWS!!!!.......3G iPhone posts are arriving at Digg 13,000 per second.
- TwoKill, on 07/10/2008, -22/+55Wow, I'm getting sick of this 3g iphone articles that are written by idiots trying to grope the ***** and balls of Apple.
- jordn, on 07/10/2008, -1/+3013,000 orders per second, for 5 seconds, before the servers exploded.
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -1/+22So nobody sees anything suspicious about this article?
Doesn't anybody do cynicism or critical thinking anymore? - d3c4y, on 07/10/2008, -2/+22I work for O2, tomorrow is gonna be craazzzzzzzzzy!
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -1/+19Oh common! There's nothing suspicious about this. "strength of orders reaching 13,000 per second at points on Monday morning"
AT POINTS on Monday morning. It's not an average rate of orders, it's the peak rate of orders they experienced during that period. - nads, on 07/10/2008, -1/+16I call *****. Sounds more like server requests.
- JacobParker, on 07/10/2008, -1/+12holy crap that's right.
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -8/+19So they're gonna reach their total global iPhone 3G sales target in about 3 hours, in the UK alone? In 1 hour 15 mins. every man woman and child in the UK will have ordered an iPhone?
***** hype story. Wake up fanboys for ***** sake. - moog, on 07/10/2008, -10/+20GODDAMN HYPE TROLLS!
- Yousty, on 07/10/2008, -0/+9Except that your submission links to macworld.co.uk's RSS feed and not the actual article.
Here's the link you should have used:

Nice try though. - incandescent, on 07/10/2008, -3/+12One thing's for sure: O2 let down an awful lot of people this week.
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -1/+8Your submission didn't make the front page because nobody likes you.
Get over it and move on. - ElSnuggles, on 07/10/2008, -1/+7I'm not sure this counts as slurping. What other product sold in recent memory has been so popular once it goes live that it crashes company's app servers?
And regardless...orders for a product in a country of 60M peaking out at 13k per second? That's pretty darn impressive. I don't lick any company's balls, but I'm freakin impressed by that and think its digg worthy. - Harelip, on 07/10/2008, -2/+8If their poorly-tested upgrade page failed over properly when there was a timeout, people wouldn't have been mashing F5 and causing such inflated page request figures. A tiny fraction of those trying to upgrade actually got an order through and I don't believe for a second that O2 "sold out online". They tried fixing the broken page a few times, gave up and then just posted a plain page claiming to have sold out.
- mgalvin, on 07/10/2008, -1/+7if i see one more iPhone article i am gonna to start knockin' heads. come already people... enough already. It's a nice phone, we get it, its not the second coming... its still just a damn phone, holy crap.
- Daniel591992, on 07/10/2008, -1/+6You're correct.
- swraman, on 07/10/2008, -4/+9Yet another iPhone article?
- dukeeeey, on 07/10/2008, -6/+11indeed
digg has turned into a corporate sponsor for apple
you wouldn't have thought there are thousands of other phones on the market
Other awesome touch screen mobiles as well - xerox, on 07/10/2008, -1/+6I have learned you are not funny.
- BossKey, on 07/10/2008, -2/+6Sairynn: "Firefox 3?"
Disqualified for not being a product _sold_. - max1018, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4You know what an Apple Genius is right?
- nedzalife, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4Hrmmm... O2 @ 13,000 ORDERS / sec > 8,000 syn packet DDOS on Rev3?
I hate it journalist / writers can't understand the NEED for correct terminology. - davewelsh79, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4This IS the second coming (version 2) of the Jesus phone. You blaspheme, sir.
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -2/+6Diggs for iPhone-related stories are about 13K/second as well.
- MacParrot, on 07/10/2008, -2/+5I'm sure you go to all the douchebag meetings, so most likely you're in an excellent position to know.
- jakatak, on 07/10/2008, -4/+7When did Digg lose control of the front page.
Bury! - saleem, on 07/10/2008, -1/+4... 13000 orders/sec * 60 sec/min * 77 min = 60,060,000 orders
ps - yeah units - Sairynn, on 07/10/2008, -2/+5What other product sold in recent memory has been so popular once it goes live that it crashes company's app servers?
Firefox 3? - Severys, on 07/10/2008, -2/+5Total BS. I was talking to an Apple 'genius' last week and he said there is no way that the Apple stores will run out of iPhones but CPW and O2 stores have a limited supply. What sucks is that existing iPhone owners on O2 cannot get a 3G iPhone from the Apple stores.
- thebza451, on 07/10/2008, -2/+5i call bs
- yellowsnowcone, on 07/10/2008, -0/+3First phones already out in Asia
http://digg.com/apple/First_3G_iPhone_ANYWHERE_hit ... - inactive, on 07/10/2008, -2/+5As long as none of them actually produce offspring I guess thats a good thing.
Darwin thanks you. - jtanunleashed, on 07/10/2008, -4/+713,000 for one second;
1,000 for two seconds;
0 for the rest of the day? - inactive, on 07/10/2008, -1/+4@Sairynn: yeah but Digg gropes the ***** and balls of Firefox too.
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -2/+5@scot333
Apparently I "ain't". - gimmeslack12, on 07/10/2008, -6/+9This thing is gonna be colossal. I don't care what the speculation or competition says.
- MacParrot, on 07/10/2008, -1/+3Congratulations on most likely breaking out your "Tom Corbett: Space Cadet" microscope and counting your sperm. You are to be commended for such diligence. However, and it breaks my heart to tell you this, 13,000 sperm in a second is actually a very low sperm count.
Are you sure those kids are yours? - max1018, on 07/10/2008, -1/+3***** disable the Apple category then.
- moocowrat, on 07/10/2008, -3/+5you guys disturb me.
- FredFredrickson, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2Agreed.
- incandescent, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2Well I would have been a new customer. I pre-registered weeks before and responded immediately to their text on Monday but it now looks like it will be many weeks before I can get my hands on one. For many years I avoided O2 because they seemed to be overpriced and highly incompetent. I don't know why I'm surprised they have cocked up so massively with the iPhone.
- Kennerk, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2trust me, you wont be able to order from o2 online, i've tried. you dont have a UK address.... :'( JUST SEND ME A FOREIGN PHONE DAMMIT
- eShinn, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2Damn you sir for typing my thoughts down.
- FredFredrickson, on 07/10/2008, -3/+5... it's the same thing as the normal iPhone, but with a few enhancements. And on top of that, it's just a phone. How big of a loser can you be?
- 1Bad, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2Or alot of people are going to be surprised when they find out they accidentally ordered 50 iPhones because they kept hitting refresh while their order confirmation page wasn't loading.
- aristotle0dude, on 07/10/2008, -2/+4As opposed to the negative iPhone 3G articles written by idiots trying to do a rimjob on RIM and CDMA providers?
- rowlodge, on 07/10/2008, -1/+2id buy an old one if it was cheap enough for the mp3 player by itself.
