- ChrisB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah... my Sony Ericsson K750i and PC both support Bluetooth but I always transfer music via USB... it's so much faster.
I guess Bluetooth would be useful if you wanted to transfer the occasional file at work and leave your USB/Firewire cable at home. - Goose241, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0802.11g Would be awesome!
- bberg07, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I see it as a plus no matter what type of wireless it had. I know Bluetooth isn't very fast, but how often do you update a hundred songs on your iPod? Yeah, docking it with USB or FireWire would be better then.
- kidlinux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why even bother with bluetooth? Why not use 802.11g?
- |{oopa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Salling Clicker support for iPod! I don't think anyone wants to transfer songs to their iPod with Bluetooth, way to slow but contacts would be fine.
- thecapitalizt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yea, here's a use for BT 2.0. It's starting to make sense...
in my opinion, it would be used more for "topping off" your iPod with things like new podcasts and music, etc, not filling it up. I remember seeing something awhile ago about listings for an XCode Engineer for the iPod, maybe so that people could make apps for their iPod.
I keep seeing all of these hypothetical smartmobbish theses by college kids, the only thing that they lack is a ubiquitous platform. This could really deliver that. - Trawets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's a great idea but syncing music through Bluetooth would be pretty time consuming
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0actually, yeah...that would be f'ing awesome.
Bluetooth is finally getting some traction. - 5drinkminimum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just want me some Bluetooth 2.0 iPod headphones. Lots of bluetooth headphones around all of a sudden, but none are 2.0 with the greater bandwidth.
- TripOverFeet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I would rather have bluetooth headohones. Syncing over BT would be really slow compared to FireWire.
- jackmaninov, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Bluetooth would be awesome for syncing with my powerbook. Sure, you'd want to use firewire when initially filling your iPod, but bluetooth would be fast enough to sync up podcasts, calendar data and the odd new mp3 in my collection.
Give me wireless battery charging while you're at it Apple! - sidhighwind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm not really a fan of bluetooth but it would be awesome if it had it. No more cables to carry around when i want to sync my ipod up to my different computers. it would be great.
- chesterton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0BT would only be useful for listening and control. Others have pointed out that 3Mbps is a tiny little straw to sync through.
Although, syncing calendar and to-do information through BT would work. - feakbeak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well going Bluetooth instead of wi-fi is probably to save battery life, not because of the bandwidth (obviously). Wi-fi is a battery drainer in comparison to BT. If they use BT 2.0 (~ 3Mbps I think) that would be more than enough for streaming music to your car stereo or handling calls they run these types of things on BT 1.0 now.
I don't think this technology would be added for sync'ing. Although you probably would be able to sync with it if you wanted to - it would be fine for when you buy a couple of new songs off iTMS or for updating the latest podcasts, but of course it would be impractical for a full sync. This would be added for streaming, wireless headphones and possibly interacting with other wireless devices.
I think it's a cool idea. - ZedX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh GOD can you imagine trying to sync 60GB of music over Bluetooth? The top speed of Bluetooth is something like 720kbit/s. It's bad enough now with FireWire.
- bberg07, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0IMO, I think it's a great idea. How often does one sync a full 60GB? The majority of people I know don't have more than 5GB of music. I, however, have about 20 on my 30GB. I'm willing to bet that the majority of iPod users only add a couple of songs every sync.
- dnite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ya, I agree with most of the comments. I hope they don't plan on using bluetooth the sync (or maybe make it a novelty feature for syncing a song or two), but I would much rather see some nice bluetooth headphones instead.
