- darwigg, on 10/01/2008, -24/+224That smell is "smug" being exhausted from your Mac.
- AmICoolNow, on 10/02/2008, -4/+85Well I think I'd rather get a virus on a PC then cancer on a Mac.
- thegamingguy, on 10/01/2008, -16/+97Benzene is absolutely a health risk. I have a brand new Mac Pro tower right below me... I am not happy about this.
- 4cdawgs, on 10/01/2008, -14/+93Is there anything that does NOT cause cancer????
- Spamcan, on 10/01/2008, -16/+95Apple needs to work A LOT harder on quality control. Cracking and discoloring cases, battery problems, ventilation issues, and scratch prone cases are just a few of the issues with their recent products so if this does turn out to be a serious heath risk I wouldn't be surprised. Get your ***** together Apple and stop rushing shotty merchandise out the door, at this point it almost seems deliberate.
- Zippo, on 10/01/2008, -6/+61Mmm, gotta love that new Mac smell.
- selmer, on 10/02/2008, -2/+53An Apple a day puts you in the X-Ray!
- inactive, on 10/02/2008, -16/+64maybe you should have stuck with pc instead. have fun with that leukemia.
- inactive, on 10/02/2008, -9/+55PC: "Hi. I'm a PC. I'm fat, clumsy and unattractive".
Mac: "Hi. I'm a Mac. I'm a cool slacker and I cause leukemia"
PC:"Use cause what?"
Mac" "Leukemia"
PC" "Is that cool?"
Mac: "It is now. Why do you think Steve Jobs looks like death warmed over? It's the new cool Mac death look"
PC: "Okay, I think I'd rather stay fat and clumsy."
Mac: (hunched over coughing blood uncontrollably on the floor ) I gotta go. I think I just ***** my pants. - inactive, on 10/01/2008, -12/+54Are people really taking a site like ValleyWag seriously? ValleyWag is like the freaking Globe. The smell that they refer to is resin on RAM chips that burns off after a few minutes of using the computer. You CAN NOT get cancer this way.
- HookmasterCH47, on 10/02/2008, -16/+57iCancer? Sorry, I had to...
- allengeer, on 10/02/2008, -3/+36you know, if you put your face down and huffed your mac for about 20 years you might develop cancer. You know there's a much larger source of carcinogen gases being emitted all around you. You encounter thousands of them a day, constantly churning out huge amounts of cancer-causing gases. They're called cars and one of them puts out more carcinogenic material than several hundred mac's ever could. C'mon people, this is sensationalism at is core. It's stupid.
- nomoreink, on 10/02/2008, -4/+35Silly, everyone knows that research causes cancer.
- olafcore, on 10/02/2008, -6/+37Go-karts?
- AZTriGuy, on 10/02/2008, -1/+28Sorry, my Prius has the market cornered on smug emissions.

- ThaDRD, on 10/02/2008, -1/+22No *****. Do you think Apple or any other company WOULDN'T deny such a thing?
- genezorz, on 10/02/2008, -6/+26I guess now we know what happened to Steve Jobs.
- damonic, on 10/02/2008, -10/+30Oh please - these toxic chemicals are used in all computers. Someone just needs some publicity for their failing news organization...
- richbleak, on 10/02/2008, -0/+17You just wrote Microsoft's new ad campaign. Enjoy your new found wealth.
- inactive, on 10/02/2008, -5/+22dasani water causes cancer and second hand oxygen causes cancer
- neodude237, on 10/02/2008, -3/+19Oh the cracking... I have seen quite a few of my friends macbooks crack
- RodBorn, on 10/02/2008, -9/+24iNeedChemo
- inactive, on 10/02/2008, -0/+13i should seriously pitch that.
- digitalpencil, on 10/01/2008, -6/+19mmm.. i love the smell of Cancer in the morning..
- inactive, on 10/02/2008, -4/+16"It is NOT a toomah!"
- MrViklund, on 10/01/2008, -18/+30Hahahahahahahaha this has gone too far.
It's dangerous to live. YOU CAN DIE! - elitexero, on 10/02/2008, -12/+24Natural selection. Haha.
- OddMoniker, on 10/02/2008, -0/+11Fun has cancer
- roxgod666, on 10/02/2008, -7/+18I'm a PC and i don't kill my user
- PhillyMJS, on 10/02/2008, -4/+14Chuck Norris' tears.
- cheeseron, on 10/02/2008, -3/+13This is a gossip rag. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valleywag
- cl2yp71c, on 10/02/2008, -1/+11Rainbows and Unicorns.
- aserer511, on 10/02/2008, -0/+10tell me about it. as fugly as dells are (starting to change) they're decently solid...my friend's blackbook has panel creak like a 60 year old house
- cadmiumpaint, on 10/02/2008, -2/+12no one deserves cancer.
thanx for being a soulless a-hole
- AZTriGuy, on 10/02/2008, -1/+10Dammit, first they told me the cigarettes I was smoking caused cancer, so I had to quit that. Then they told me the cellphone I was using caused cancer, so I ditched it. Now they are telling me my Mac causes cancer too? Can't I have anything fun?!?!?
- inactive, on 10/02/2008, -2/+11Well there are now pharmaceuticals in our water, and (at least in the NW) air is blown over from China and contains traces of benzene. I'd say sooner or later, we're all going to die...
- AmICoolNow, on 10/02/2008, -5/+14Do you realize how incredibly irrelevant this is?
Actually, do you even know what you're posting? - purag66, on 05/13/2009, -0/+9Oxygen often exists as a free radical in our system. In fact, I could make the case that the largest cause of "random" cancer (i.e., cancer not specifically attributed to exposure in a profession, habit [smoking], etc.) is caused by oxygen.
That's why anti-oxidants are "good" for you as they react with free radicals and prevent them from oxidizing cellular components. - Saitekc, on 10/02/2008, -6/+15Buried for trying to defend Mac products because of fanboyism; also for said post being dumb
- farmerbb, on 10/02/2008, -4/+13Everyone that's ever had cancer has also drunk water in his/her lifetime. So does this mean that water causes cancer?
- Tenoq, on 10/02/2008, -0/+8Cracking laptops is pretty much par for the course, IMO. I see all brands come through our shop, and about the only ones that aren't broken are the IBM Thinkpads. Probably because their built (and look) like bricks. :p
- kevlar21, on 10/02/2008, -1/+9They didn't deny it, they said they haven't found any evidence to support this claim. I haven't seen any either.
- jasmus, on 10/02/2008, -0/+7Dammit! I just checked my Macbook, and there's a crack on the bottom right. Just above the iR port.
- whahaa, on 10/02/2008, -2/+9w/e
- Zarokima, on 10/02/2008, -1/+8Umm...oxygen? Water? That's all I can think of that doesn't have some convoluted (or clear) cancer link.
- BossKey, on 10/02/2008, -0/+7Everything...gives you cancer
Everything...gives you cancer
There's no cure...there's no answer
Everything...gives you cancer
