- lightningrod220, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4jarkolicious, you're right. In addition, the developer himself is the one who submitted this story. Therefore, I've marked it as spam. If your product is good enough, people will use it and nominate it to digg for you. Posting your own product/blog/etc to digg just reeks of shameless plugging.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Don't buy this! Don't support GPL violators! I'm sick of spam articles like this anyway. The guy who submitted it is the guy who wrote the app.
- jarkolicious, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I, too, love NewsFire to death but am really tired of the developer. The way that he treats his customers makes me wonder how he is capable of running his so-called software business.
- TommyH, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I agree, nunofgs. It's unsavory to have a developer post a "news" story about his own non-free application.
- FredB7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2NewsFire has a nice UI, but it's dev is a complete moron.
I had a question when I evaluated NF a few months ago, the forum was closed and he never answered my emails.
After searching a bit, I found that it was his usual behaviour, closing forum threads, not answering, etc. He won't have my money.
Anyway, I found that NetNewsWire was better for my intensive usage, and it's a pleasure to communicate with the dev. Brent Simmons has my money. - kctipton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No Panther support now? I paid for that version, thinking this seemed pretty cool as a trial version, but it bogged down hard when given a few hundred feeds to update. I was waiting for a new version that could handle it (apparently his Newsfire 1.2 was available a few months ago, no more betas...)

Nooooo... If Apple made an RSS reader, it would like like Safari RSS, which is an RSS reader, and has been in existance since April. - jasongetsdown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"By far the best reader for the Mac."
Sorry, NetNewsWire would have to be the grand daddy of them all. More features, more useful, just better. - hibern8, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1NetNewsWire has one VERY important feature that NewsFire (unfortunately) doesn't have. NNW can sync with Bloglines (as well as NewsGator etc.) so I don't have to sift through the same stories twice.
- davdav, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Let's just pimp our own software...
- impdr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2eeeeeeew. i didn't know digg was another press release vehicle.
flame. flame. flame.
shame. - shamam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1NetNewsWire blows NewsFire away, and the developers aren't dicks.
- nunofgs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2shameless self plug
- reynhout, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice redesign. It's a little bit prettier than Vienna now. At $20, NewsFire looks like a great product. rnrnVienna ( http://www.opencommunity.co.uk/vienna2.html ), of course, is open source and free, which is also pretty compelling. But it's good to see more great OSX software.rnrnrn
- bellmor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The interface is dead simple, works great (and with this release, speed isn't an issue anymore), and is uncluttered. My favorite feed reader on any platform.
- Claymore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Universal Binary" rolling too... NICE
- Logik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I broke down and bought it about 4 days ago. I used it back when it was a free beta but after hearing of his treatment of a few Acquisition users I was very hesitant to give him my money. Ah well. It's a nice app. I like it more than NNW, but everyone is free to their own opinion.
- daProject, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I will have to give it a try, but it will have to be amazing to dethrone NetNewsWire.
Mac users have it good on the RSS reader front. I wonder what Newsgator plan for NWW. - clofresh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love this RSS reader! It represents all that is good with OSX and the Mac developer community.
- samster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is what an RSS Reader on the Mac would look like if Apple made one.
Long time NewsFire users, love it. - northLite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Either way this one sure does look better. I wish there was a reader as nice as this for windows, I stopped using FeedDemon a while ago because it was so clunky. And in-firefox RSS with Sage isnt nearly as effective.
- mingistech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0BEST RSS READER EVER!
I've been using NewsFire for about a year now and i'm a huge fan. - soaring, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Been using this one for over a year now, nothing touches it!
- Ludwig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I make it a point to never try the "The 'Angelina Jolie of'" anything.
- alexdagrate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Gotta say, I like it better than NetNewsWire.
I agree that the developer is a jerk. However, he's a damn talented jerk. - Baumer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This app was my favorite....when it was free. Who would pay to read rss files.
- KissTheRing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0how does it compare with Vienna?
- xtac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wish they had something so nice for the windows
- Brutal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have a license for Newsfire, but I still use NetNewsWire. Newsfire needs a three-paned view!
- leoport, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I heart NewsFire.
Seriously an awesome aggregtor for those who haven't tried it yet. But does anyone know how to have a "preview pane" rather than just summary/full view? - swaxhog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't own a Mac or care about RSS or podcasts, but I'll admit it's a nice looking screenshot.
- lewsmind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0By far the best reader for the Mac.
- vpisteve, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Love NewsFire, and this update makes a great app even better.
- queraxus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0NetNewsWire better? God no!
- lewsmind, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1"NetNewsWire blows...developers...dicks"
No wonder everyone loves it.
