- boozedrinker, on 11/17/2008, -13/+44God, I hope this version has copy/paste.....err, oh wait.
- jpt62089, on 11/17/2008, -4/+16Windows 3.1 for life!
See how stupid that sounds? - kkiran, on 11/17/2008, -1/+12I am hoping Aluminum Macbooks' trackpad issues are fixed, driving me crazy!
- FrankieAngels, on 11/17/2008, -1/+11I wish they would fix Airport/WiFi - mine has been buggered since 10.5.2 and I'm not alone. Just look at the Apple support forums.
- Coolmatt49, on 11/17/2008, -0/+10Hopefully they will include the new three and four finger gestures to the Early 2008 MacBook Pros that have the Multi-Touch trackpad in this new update.
- virtualball, on 11/17/2008, -0/+10Or how about we don't have an OS war because it makes you look childish. I love my mac and iPhone, but seriously, every OS has their flaws and their upsides. Vista is good (now) but I just happen to think OSX is better. Do I have to make it known every chance I get? No. Stop trolling.
- GalacticRerun, on 11/17/2008, -4/+9They don't have to. But they do. So yes. Yes it is.
- CoreyTamas, on 11/17/2008, -0/+5What's the issue there? I have one and it gives me no problem at all.
- Jambi, on 11/17/2008, -2/+6They're releasing a new AmigaOS? Why didn't anyone tell me?!
- cawpin, on 11/17/2008, -1/+5Well, Windows 3.1 was dropped more recently.
- LMN8R, on 11/17/2008, -0/+4Calling any release of OS X "major" while calling Windows 7 "Vista SP2" is incredibly ironic and uninformed.
If one is a "service pack", then both are. As it happens, neither is remotely that case. - Avian00, on 11/18/2008, -0/+3It sounds like you're missing the point of the Stack. Those are not Aliases. They are the originals. The Stack intended as a quick alternative to launching Finder for viewing your files. Having an item get deleted after dragging it from the Stack to the Trash is no more a bug than it being deleted after dragging it from a Finder window to the Trash.
- venvision.org, on 11/17/2008, -1/+4Did you upgrade you router's firmware, my friend's mac mini's Wi-Fi was broken after 10.5.2 and a router upgrade fixed that issue (he had some us robotics router)
- jpt62089, on 11/17/2008, -6/+9I think they are going to put the Vista SP2 update in Windows 7 so you have to buy Windows 7 to get the update....
- MacParrot, on 11/17/2008, -0/+3I would say that I can't wait for your account to be banned due to spamming, but you're the kind of ***** that will just go get a new one.
- thesledman, on 11/17/2008, -0/+3I have windows/Linux shares running at the office and at home. Everything runs as expected, no noticeable slowdowns or anything. That's on a New Aluminum MacBook Pro and Aluminum iMac.
- dragossh, on 11/17/2008, -0/+3SP2 in January or February. Meanwhile, Microsoft continues to release updates to Vista, you know...
- kkiran, on 11/17/2008, -0/+3Well, the thing is, trackpad fails to recognize the clicks. It sometimes need multiple clicks and this issue is widespread amongst the early adopters. Apple announced that they were working on it but seriously, that issue and the black keyboard is pushing me to go back to the old MBP!
- inactive, on 11/17/2008, -0/+2If for any reason you're not satisfied with our service, I hate you.
- timusca, on 11/17/2008, -0/+2Stop spamming Digg, you *****.
- greenkite, on 11/17/2008, -0/+2just bought a 17" macbook pro, and that's been my biggest complaint -- wifi doesn't work very well (have to connect/disconnect multiple times before I get a usable connection) on various wireless routers (home, work, parents', cafe)... sucks...s
- MikeFromAmerica, on 11/17/2008, -1/+3Also, why do you need an admin password to change the permissions on your own files via the Get Info window?
- MikeFromAmerica, on 11/17/2008, -1/+3I wish they'd fix the bug where if you drag an alias out of a stack (in the dock) to the trash, it moves the original item into the trash instead of the alias. WTF, Apple? That's been broken since 10.5.0.
- quidpro, on 11/18/2008, -0/+2I hope the oh my god I am so bored.
- cawpin, on 11/17/2008, -1/+3My wifi works fine. I have seen others mention this but I haven't had any issues.
- thesledman, on 11/17/2008, -0/+2Yeah, same here. Mine works great, didn't know people were experiencing issues with it.
- CoreyTamas, on 11/18/2008, -0/+2jamesmlemieux: The Apple laptop trackpad allows for clicks of all kinds... considerably more than the average two-button mouse, in fact. All without keyboard combos.
If that's still not enough, plug in the mouse you love and use it. OS X supports two buttons and a scroll wheel without installing any software at all and, if you want more, you can find free software that will give you 4, 5, 6 or more clicks.
The whole argument about Apple only having one button hasn't been relevant since the colored iMacs and the puck mouse. It's not 1997 anymore, so don't worry about having to hit key combos to get the clicks you desire. - cawpin, on 11/17/2008, -3/+5So Apple having to release 6 service packs is somehow good?
- fliguy84, on 11/17/2008, -0/+2Windows 3.11 for Workgroups FTW
- jlimon, on 11/17/2008, -0/+2Yeah, I still can't believe they got rid of the single best notebook keyboard... for that.
- hairysandwich, on 11/17/2008, -0/+2Excellent comment, too bad I can only digg you up once. I hate Zippo's smug attitude, even if apple was measurably more awesome in every way, that has nothing to do with you. Their quality / awesomeness does not rub off on you as a person. It is still possible to be an idiot and also a mac user, those states are not mutually exclusive.
- bigbangbuddha, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1I agree with linuggz I've found graphic lockups are usually related to an overheated GPU, try downloading iStatPro, it's a widget for dashboard that tracks and displays vital info like the fan speeds and heat. I have the same model as you and mine is still working fine. There are half a dozen tempurature sensors in the case this widget will let you know whats going on. Nothing should be hotter than 50 -60 Celsius.

- CoreyTamas, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1Ok. I haven't seen that. I wish you luck with it and hope the new update fixes it.
One suggestion: Create a new account on your Mac and try out the trackpad there. If the lagging issues are gone then you know it's not the OS that's the problem... it's something that's been installed on top of it. - cawpin, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1I have no problems whatsoever with my Samba or Windows shares. They run fine for me.
- fugazied, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1I have a mid-2007 MBP and they didn't add any gestures to that despite it being a simple firmware update so I am willing to bet you areout of luck.
- Sparky9292, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1Wonder if any fixes to the Nvidea problems will appear.
- Kypt, on 11/17/2008, -1/+2I only wish that their CIFS support improves. Any share on windows and/or via samba runs really slow on OSX. Other types of network transfer is good, however their transfer rate for smb/cifs is horrible. Ne1 know if this is an isolated issue? Didn't have it on Tiger.
- cmer, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1Mine lags, sometimes, rarely. Perhaps that's what kkiran was talking about?
- ocellnuri, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1I've got my fingers crossed that DVI output will work between my new Macbook Pro and my 20" Viewsonic LCD after this update.
- MikeFromAmerica, on 11/18/2008, -0/+1If you don't need an admin account to change file permissions (other than chmod in Terminal), something is screwed up with both of my 10.5 machines.
As for the Stack, here's my scenario: I have a folder called "current" that contains aliases to various files in different places in my Documents folder. I drag the "current" folder to the Dock. If I click on "current" in the Dock and drag one of the alias icons to the Trash, it leaves the alias in place but moves the original file to the trash. It should behave the same as if I opened the "current" folder and dragged the alias to the trash (in which case, the alias would get trashed but the original file would be unaffected). - thesledman, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1I mentioned the aluminum to relay these are the newer Macs, opposed to the previous plastic iMacs and plastic/metal MacBook Pro's. And yes, I do believe the aluminum, in the case of the MacBook/Pro, helps distribute heat better therefore improving overall performance that would inevitably effect the ability to handle data from networks. However I would never argue that point as any increase would be barley noticeable.
- ithonicfury, on 11/18/2008, -0/+1I've experienced that, but it seemed to be a problem with the computer at the other end. Samba took freakin forever to transfer stuff, upload or download.
The only computer that had the problem was my Macbook, and only to that one computer (even tried different network cards, still slow). Re-installed the Windows computer and it works fine now. - MikeFromAmerica, on 11/18/2008, -0/+1My bad... About the Stack thing. I tried it out and it's symlinks that are deleted improperly. Aliases have the expected behavior but if you create a symlink to a file and drag the symlink to the trash from a stack pop-up, the original file is deleted and the now-broken symlink is left in place.
Still a bug but affects far fewer users since most Mac people don't use Terminal or symlinks. - linuggz, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1it could be overheating. make sure it has ventilation underneath and that the fans are working
- timusca, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1@kkiran
Yeah, I'm experiencing those problems too...
As for the keyboard... best damn keyboard ever made, seriously. - Kypt, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1Problem is not whether they run, but they run at a fraction of the time they do while using Windows (even if its bootcamp).
- donut2d, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1It's more conductive!
- RyomaNagare, on 11/17/2008, -1/+1sorry this problem you all seem to be having...
are you referring to the problem that apple addressed on monday with it own dedicated patch?
http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacBook__MacBoo ...
because you all talk like there isn't a solution available. -
