- jesusphreak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why the hell would you colocate a mini? That doesn't make any sense to me at all.
- dongiaconia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1How do you get discs into the mini inside the millenium falcon?
- ferrell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"so much power..."
LOL - SVPirate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That's quite refreshing, pretty cool I say. Don't show many of the cool Mods I've seen though, how about the 'retro' min in Q610 mod? That'd look funny on Apple's site :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wow! I glad this site has finally started getting Apple stories to the front page.
For a moment I was thinking this was Microsoft.com. - felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@jesusphreak: It makes perfect sense to me to colocate a Mini. Actually, I was getting ready to say what a great idea that was when I read your comment.
If you think about it, the Mini has all the power you need to be a great web and email server, whether you use MacOS or Linux. The colo facility can save space by using Minis instead of towers (and it's a lot cheaper to get a Mini than a 1U rack mount), you save money shipping it to them because of the size, and $499 (or a little more if you pump it up) is a good price for the box itself. - super_structure, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It's always great to see a large corporation embracing makers, hackers, and DIY'ers. Nicely done, Apple.

You're kidding right, this place is highly anti-microsoft, i'll ive been seeing is, "RUMOR: Apple to reinvent the wheel" - hyperpasta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@themeparkphoto
That's hilarious, and I'm a Mac fan! You get +3. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1What I really meant to say was that I modded my mini-mac with a nice windows xp logo and osx theme.
- laughterkillsme, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Apple is taking a page from the linux playbook and really trying to create more of a community atmosphere ..
- ravuya, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1That's neat of Apple. I hope they update it with some of the nice paint jobs and lid replacements I've seen kicking around.
- Mikey_Ickey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I always thought that a company like apple that had such a tight hold on all of there stuff would be pissed if some one where to modify any of it. guess not. Cool stuff.
- ferrell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0>>Could you imagine Dell doing something like this? Nope
Could you imagine anyone modding a Dell? Nope - TheCheeta, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Exactly... so far those that say "Waaaahhh... modders have been doing this forever!!" keep in mind that there aren't many companies out there that not only acknowledge that people do this, but actually showcase it.
Nice job, Apple. :-) Way to reach out to your users... as usual. - jo42, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0> colocated mini
Makes me laugh. There is this one rack in our data center that has shuttle boxes like this. Stacked 3 across and about 7 high. Must be a pita to pull on out in the middle of the heap.
I'll stick with 1U/2U servers with RAID, redundant PSUs, etc. thank you very much. - NidStyles, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Nice. I just wish there was something there useful for me.
- shockingbird, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Haha.. the Falcon one is great.

Please tell me that you are joking... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Cool
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I modded my mini-mac by selling it and replacing it a pc running windows xp.

Oh snap, there IS a Beowulf cluster of those! - ramsinks.com, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0killer
- SirThom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Pretty cool. =)
- TheCheeta, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0It appears we need a sarcasm indicator on Digg now, because some of you clearly wouldn't know sarcasm if it bit you in the face.
- gamerzworld, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0What about Kevins Ideas? Screen Saver on a DELL monitor and Windows on a Mini.
- linuxnut, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Opens up so many options, but getting those things apart is a whole nother story....
- sunmicroman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Interesting idea about the colocation of minis. Would be great for space but would be a little anemic for anything besides a simple family website or something serving static web pages. And for a web application server I would be even less inclined due to the hardware constraints of a "consumer" based computer with limited expandability.
- Wogna, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Awesome

Annoying. I hate seeing that. Be banished. Now. - dharm, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0all this ***** has been done since way before and better... with mini-itx boards...
- midbach, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0meh... no digg.
- Ramble, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Well, they all suck.
1. The car driver will most likely crash
2. People have been case modding PC's for decades. - coolcoolglasses, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Could you imagine Dell doing something like this? Nope
