- vroom101, on 10/11/2007, -1/+64Any objections to an article-on-one-page link?
http://www.pcworld.com/printable/article/id,133194/printable.html - defectDS, on 10/11/2007, -2/+28Usually I'd tell you to shut up and get over it, but a majority of Digg users feel your pain. We need to do something instead of being force fed this POS.
- Luigi239, on 10/11/2007, -2/+20Hopefully with a resolution independent UI in Leopard, higher resolution screens will be more accepted, as the text will be easier to read without tweaking.
My only thought is why isn't Apple offering this in the 15" model? - kohner86, on 10/11/2007, -4/+16Dell D810s and D820s with 15.4" monitors have had a native resolution of 1920 x 1200 for around two years. This simply is not a big deal...
- snypa, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14Certainly not!
- meez, on 10/11/2007, -3/+13Nice and relevant comment you got there.
- drlha, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9No, its an LCD. 15" MacBook Pros have LCDs that are backlit with LEDs now, instead of the old fashioned lights. That must be what your getting mixed up with.
- JuyLe, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10Yes it completly sucks, I preferd the old original system, even if we had to scroll for ages sometimes. Readability is gone.
- tryferos, on 10/11/2007, -6/+143000? wow thats alot...i would love to buy a Macbook, but i think at these prices i will stick with a mac mini instead.
- rudy23, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7article about dazzling display without any pix?
- pinkSocks, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8Reading text on a 15" laptop with a 1920x1200 resolution would like trying to watch ants from space. Some people might get a kick out of it, but I don't think enough people would want it to make it a profitable option.
- oyourmom, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10The Digg up/down buttons are all stretched. =[
- Fett101, on 10/11/2007, -10/+16Um... that resolution has been available on Dell laptops for a few years I believe. Why the leg hump from PC World?
- defectDS, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6http://digg.com/tech_news/New_Digg_Comment_System_FTL_Old_System_FTW
DIGG THIS and let them know. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -6/+11I personally like it. It makes you reply to the proper comment, instead of everyone just replying to the first person to be higher up on the list. Bravo DIGG
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -6/+10Not only has the WUXGA resolution been available from Dell but also from many other vendors, especially the ones who make gaming notebooks, like Sager.
And on a side note, I really hate the new comment system. - Bega, on 10/11/2007, -7/+11good on them, but dell has been offering then on their 15"+ inspiron line since 2005...
- cyrax83, on 10/11/2007, -4/+8buried as lame.
where the hell are the pictures ? - tobymarx, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5For all of you requesting pictures, do you have a high-resolution display like the new MBP? Because otherwise it would be like buying Magnum condoms, and, well...
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3This article is about the highest end version of the MacBook *Pro*, with a BTO option. MacBooks start at $1,099 and MacBook Pros start at $1,999.
- davidlitts, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3The new system is crap, its takes longer for me to read comments now, then before, by a long shot.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5It has its pros and cons, i like the reply style, but hate the layout
- ApplCmptrDood, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Oh, sorry. My bad! Thanks for the correction, and sorry PC World.
- Sophistifunk, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Agreed. I ordered my 15" MBP a week or so ago, all the bells and whistles (4gb, 160gb 7200 etc), and I'd love to have been able to spec a 1680 x 1050 display, let alone 1920 x 1200.....
- adude, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Use abhiroop's script in conjunction with this: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/10101
These 2 scripts make the comment system what it should have been. - fkr3, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3I think they need to look at reddit to see how it should be done, then apply some style.
- wordsofwisedumb, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Autohide the thing.
- pcharles23, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3guys, the high rez display is only available with the 17" MBP MODEL.. not the 15 inch.
- uptown, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Hence the scalable fonts in Leopard.....
- arunforce, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3I disagree to your agreement.
- cdmarcus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2What the hell does he mean by saying that it's not REALLY high-def because it's BIGGER than 1080p TVs are? True 1080p requires 1920x1080, and this is 1920x1200. Which means it's most certainly high-def. Maybe what he meant to say is that it's not really widescreen, which is true. However, you'll still get a great looking, full 1080p image out of it.
- SHaR87, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Here are some pictures from another review.
http://arstechnica.com/reviews/hardware/macbook-pro-santa-rosa.ars/2 - noreturn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2We have threaded comments now, in case you didn't notice.
- arunforce, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Why are you digging me down. :(
I'm sure we are all curious if there is a set limit on how many sub levels there are, someone please reply below this. :(
-edit-
This looks hella confusing... - relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -0/+2I agree
- DPimp1262, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2My old HP 15 inch laptop had a 1920*1200 display back in 2005. I am seriously surprised it has taken apple this long to support this in their laptops. I mean I love my 15 inch mac book pro but I miss the realestate.
- phill, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I'm still waiting for 300ppi screens.
- davidlitts, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1exactly, mac is a gift from job...or god, whatever.
- danielwsmithee, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Yeah I have one of those at work. I love it most people can stand how small the type is but I think it is perfect.
- cgreentx, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2You're insane. That's the best thing in the Dell Latitude D820/830 lines... 1920x1200 @ 15.4" Widescreen is incredible. I recently down-sized to a 14" model and the 1440x900 sucks by comparison.
- ClunkClunk, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I got to see one of these in person today, and my god they are gorgeous. If I were to get one, I'd also have to tack on an extra $100 for a stronger prescription on my galsses.
- MrSunshine, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1High resolutions make no sense if the screen isn't at least 20".
- jfoun3, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1you beat me to it...
- davidlitts, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1agreed there are better things than this that should be hitting the front page
- jambamkin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1a much better article in fact
- Jakolantern, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Also, our laptops don't look like ***** go-bots made for ADD kids
- djpants428, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1well, unless you have a display that is higher than 1920x1200, and have a picture you can view fullscreen, I don't think you will be able to judge the sharpness of the apple display....
- darkyoshi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Let's try to make these boxes taller than they are wide.
EDIT: Wait, looks like we can't. :( - greatblackowl, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13000 for a 17" laptop is a little exorbitant, though. I think the "problem" (if you can call it that) with apple laptops is that they always use the latest and greatest Intel chips (since the switch), which drives their prices to oblivion. I've seen pc laptops for under 1000 bucks, but they always have 1.72Ghz (or some such) Intel chips.
- stuma9000, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I like the dock on the left away from scroll bars
