For all we know, this is the first time anyone has ever robbed someone else of their iPod in NYC. Unlikely but possible. I know I wouldn't go to jail for music... on the other hand, how many songs would you have to pirate to get a chance at a life sentence?

Then of course there are the Albanians, the Yugoslavians, Iraqis and all the other Middle-Eastern refugees/immigrants that seem to take a liking to the 'thug' lifestyle, particularly catalyzed by rap and other forms of media that exonerate the 'thug-life'. Yes, übermensch did make it specific that it was 'a group of black hoodlums', and that may very well be true. However, he did not state that he had a problem with African Americans, he simply stated that it was them who did it last time, and them who did it again this time. And yes, Lem316, you are also correct. For all we know from the article it could have been a group of Chinese h4x0r5 that did this, but once again we are not certain based off of the information that was given. Basically my point is, übermensch did not turn this thread into a racist post. If he were to have started yelling about all blacks are bad, and they should be systematically exterminated, then yes he would have done so. As far as I can tell, he made a generalization based off of a previous event and a crime rate statistic.

But a young kid being murdered over a luxury music player that no one needs is even sadder. Besides murders over money and other things are unfortunately too common to notice every one. This is a first (hopefully a last).

There was this other boy "15" in my city who was killed last week over a $10 dept for hair braiding. It's those white headphones. I told my sister not to use them but she insisted on wearing them.

He said that people get their ipods stolen all the time there, so it does happen frequently

-Actually, if you read further down the article, the police in NYC have stated that there has been a wave of IPOD robberies recently.

-The victim was African American, and according to the eyewitnesses, the robbers were also African American. The worst part is, the IPOD wasn't even his, he had borrowed it from a friend.
