They may be free but I'll bet there's one hell of a long waiting list for them. - Quix, on 10/12/2007, -6/+35Rolling eyes because Apple-hating Geterix can't resist posting to every Apple-related story...
- Unicron, on 10/12/2007, -7/+32Digg finally dropped all pretense and turned in to a full-on jerkcircle
- natterca, on 10/12/2007, -8/+28Rolling eyes because Geterix is a tool.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -23/+43digg, just because jon stewart is awesome
- prockcore, on 10/12/2007, -16/+30Only Apple fanboys can take a story about hardware failure and spin it to sound positive.
- sigintop, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Actually Comedy Central has been known to be very cheap with it's employees. Howard Stern, Dave Chappelle, and John Stewart have all mentioned it before. The joke that goes around back then was that the only people making money were Matt an Trey and possibly the Battlebots.
- spidoman, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9^^
Most honest comment ever posted on digg. - PathDaemon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I don't know... for some reason, I know that Colbert is funny, but don't enjoy his humor.
As for Stewart, I like him, like his views, like his humor, but have also suddenly lost the love. I saw a Daily Show a few days ago... he had a conservative on as a guest to talk about gay marriage. There was a cultish sense to it — the audience cheered whenever JS silenced him with one point or another. I happen to lean democratic, but agreed with some of what what the conservative was saying and felt that the audience wasn't really listening, never gave him a chance. - beelz, on 10/12/2007, -13/+18good piont . i shake my fist at you sir
- LabRat777, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5How the hell were 20 seats open for TONIGHT'S show? Those shows are usually completely booked in advance.
- TheReport, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Kilborn was an arrogant douche that noone could relate to hence why his late show with craig kilborn bombed. At least Stewart is down to earth and will admit to his stupidity hence why people enjoy his humor. Its the same kind of humor that made Conan O'Brien so big, the kind of self loathing, arrogant but dosent take himself seriously kind of humor.
- VaderHader, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5i bet they used 3rd party software to do it though...
Maybe they sold him a copy of Data Rescue II?? - kalisphoenix, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Both of them. I dare you to. I'll pay ya. There's something heartwarming and deeply rewarding about watching an imbecile live up to his potential :-)
- kalisphoenix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Probably dd.
- kalisphoenix, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6"Craig Kilborn kicked his ass as the host of that show."
? *looks around* Jesus, they'll just let anyone in here now. - RadiantBeing, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9Yeah, they only offered Dave Chapelle 50 million for a new season of The Chapelle Show.
- shunter99, on 10/12/2007, -10/+13god is an *****!!!
- oMeSSiaHo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3A woman brought a custom built laptop in for my coworker to fix. The hard drive was beyond borked, it clicked, it grinded and that was when it actually spun. Somehow through hard work and much creativity he managed to save her DOG PICTURES and do you know what her responce was? "WHY DID YOU TAKE SO F*ING LONG"!
It dosent matter if the tickets were free, its the thought that counts. I know its hard fixing hardware so I'm sure the workers appreciated it. - promethean, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9What makes you think it's Apple's fault his laptop died. He has kids. They could have broken it. Not to mention spills and drops that Jon himself could have caused.
- trogdoor, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8"Hi, it's their job to fix stuff. Stewart didn't have to offer anything other than payment for their services."
Actually, at Apples stores you get free tech support in the store so not even that. Even if the computer is out of warranty. I saw a guy bring an Apple ][ while I was at an Apple store, they actually knew how to fix his ancient machine, even did some programming on it. They don't call it a genius bar for nothing. - Brak710101, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I would love to go see his show, but the waiting list is about 3 years as of this season.
My uncle, who works for CBS (CBS is affilated with Comedy Central or something?) was able to get my grandparents into the show for thier 50th anniversery. I think its like in 2 months, but lucky them, they get to see one of the best shows on TV.
"Wheres my tickets?' - krolls, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7Lets think of it this way, Jon did not have to do anything. He could have been like- my machine crashed, fix it, its part of what I paid for. He simply was nice enough to toss them an extra little "thanks". Its not every night Jon Stewart invites you to The Daily Show. The tickets apparently are rather hard to get too, I dont know this first hand but I had a friend who tried to get them and was un-able to
- Fraghappy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The tickets are free yes, but they are hard to find as they are in such high demand with limited supply.
- sdresser, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8and it was a hard drive... not manufactured by apple
- sleepwalkers, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Someone at the Apple Store helped him save photos of his child.
I think that's a nice token of gratitude, considering the waiting list for the show is insane. - theantidote, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2He most likely either held the tickets and would've given them to the employees either way or when they fixed it for him he got 20 tickets before they went on sale. There are no preorders, it's first come first serve. He could've gotten his data back this morning and had time to get some tickets.
- johnhummel, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8And this is why God invented backups.
- apzdsx, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7Hi, it's their job to fix stuff. Stewart didn't have to offer anything other than payment for their services.
- otatop, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4That $50 million was mostly in money from DVD sales. Since Chapelle's Show season one was the best selling TV DVD ever (something like 7 million sold), they knew they were sitting on a goldmine and could cut him in. But they didn't offer him $50 million in cash.
- Unicron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2A cure for cancer is important. This is like tech celeb gossip.
Next week, Lindsay Lohan can tell us how much she enjoys watching movies and organising her pictures. - titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hard Drives can fail on ANY machine.
- sdresser, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4i agree. craig kilborn was incredible.
- tomis, on 03/15/2009, -0/+1Apple's hardware broke. It is Apple's fault. You would be totally in line to bitch them the ***** out for using ***** parts, especially at the prices they charge.
- fluffyturtle, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I fixed a guys laptop (pc) and he let me stay at his summer house for a month, where the ***** is my digg story?
- Fraghappy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3What's better than the Daily Show or Apple individually? Both together! Very interesting read.
- Scooley01, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Aww, that's sweet.
But seriously, if I had irreplaceable data like that, and someone saved it, I'd be pretty damn happy too.
Guess John Stewart just learned the value of regular backups, eh? - BobbyWhoKnow, on 03/02/2008, -0/+0O'Reilly make web 2.0 and he will make web 3.0
- codehead, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1So... is it safe to say that he sent a bunch of free stuff? ^_^
- pat9000, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2"How did this story made it to front page? "
Let's see: you not only read through half the responses, but then posted a comment as well.
See the irony? - mrwiggly, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3waiting list for tickets is around 1 month
http://www.nytix.com/TVShows/NewYork/DailyShow/Tickets/tickets.html - mongoos150, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3It was the drive that crashed - not the Apple hardware. I hate ignorant people.
- Polotenchiko, on 03/25/2008, -0/+0O'Relly is genius!
Погрузчики, минипогрузчики http://elektrum.ru/ автопогрузчики цена и где купить.
genius too! - PathDaemon, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Jon Stewart is a pop culture figure. That makes it important.
- siggyfawn, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4The tickets are free. But I'm sure they'll get some back stage access, meet the cast.
I'm sure some rich people would have bitched the whole time that it was Apples fault, and that THEY should get something free for THEIR troubles. - omnithought, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2O'Reilly would have sued the Apple store bur not being able to fix his PC
- bbrosemer, on 10/12/2007, -8/+7That is becasue Tucker Carlson is a Dick
- TheReport, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4"Digg finally dropped all pretense and turned in to a full-on jerkcircle"
