- ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19Well, it would be nice if it did more than just launch a safari window...
I was secretly hoping for a drop down menu - but for me, I think I'll just use my bookmarks folder.
If I'm surfing the web and remember I want to BT something, it is easier just to click my bookmarks tab than to launcha widget and type it in so it just launchees safari...- ebd.i.am, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6exactly.
- nandabanaotakun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I agree... it seems to lose functionality if it doesn't just download the torrent without opening another application.
A lot of widgets these days seem to be little more than simple shortcuts to websites. - ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Also, in order to search multiple site you have to ad them to My Favorites list, and then search My Favorites and then it launches a new browser window for each site you select. Why can it just use tabbed browsing that is offered in Safari, that would be MUCH better. I mean, I like expose, but I don't enjoy using it to switch between 8 web pages - tabs are more efficient
- vashmyvindows, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I downloaded and used it. Upon submitting a query, it opened a browser window (Safari) and 17 tabs, each of them displaying search results from their relevant sites.
It's not in-dash searching (which I thought it was), but it's definitely easier than opening all those pages and searching yourself. - ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well most the time i dont need to search 17 BT sites to find what I need. I seach mininova or isohunt or Pirate Bay. If it isnt there, it most likely isnt anywhere
- skyhighrockets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Or you could just use Flow, a widget that does the same thing just as well. It also looks better and complements BitSticks very nicely.
http://www.modelconcept.net/?p=141- skidogallard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, but it still opens up a 10 tabs in Firefox
- zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I installed this widget earlier, but removed it when it just fired a dozen browser tabs :P
Nice start though! - beta1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Been using something similiar for a while and it comes in handy. This one has more sites by defalt though.
- marcushe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8This thing is awful!
- andrewrchambers, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3i downloaded an app called XTorrent not long ago and its pretty cool.
it has a search function in the app which will search google, yahoo, and whatever torrent sites you want it to and then it will list the torrents and you can chose to download them all inside the app.
its only in early beta but shows a lot of promise (anyone who has heard of newsfire, or aquisition - its the same man behind these great programs)

theres a link- Kazrog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Impressive! Thanks for the link, that app is incredible!
- andrewrchambers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2it's not my app... i just happen to use it.
i don't download a lot of torrent files and don't know alot about it (including whatever libtransmission is), but that app is useful for just typing whatever i want to download and then clicking download.
its as featurerich an app as i need.
- carrotopp13, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1doesn't even search isohunt...
- elektricki, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Wow i really didn't want 15 browser windows open. What a load of crap.
- D14BL0, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Needs Konfabulator.
- AJRiddle, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Widgets are pretty much useless anyways..
- Kazrog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That's hot!
Actually this is kind of weak. No isohunt? That's where I find 99% of everything. - tizz66, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This thing is utter tripe. Search torrent directly from Dashboard? No, it's just a box that opens a browser window.
Search with 'all sites', and it'll conveniently open 20 browser windows/tabs, one for each site. Most of them don't even take any notice of the string you typed into the widget.
Don't bother with this. I've marked it as lame. - enjourni, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Bah. I just use www.torrentz.com. I can't seem to find a general, customizable search widget, but you can always just load up firefox and and a keyboard search for it.
- monkeybutler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Whats the uTorrent equivelent for Mac? I usually use the PC to torrent but this app may make me switch.
- MonkeyFarts, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My personal preference is Transmission. Just like uTorrent, it's simple and lightweight, and it looks nice to boot.

- rifazrazeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i haven't experienced anything cooler than xTorrent for searching and downloading torrents for mac. but someone's mentioned about restrictions at core level - don't know much about it...
but if using this widget - searching torrentz.com only would be enough as it searches many of the other sites listed in this... don't wanna open this many windows do ya...
i cant be botherd to try enabeling only torrentz.com and searching... god it took a long time to close all these windows... - badtz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0the developer of xtorrent/newsfire/acquisition is not very responsive, and because of that reason, I would not give any money to support this type of service. also, libtransmission is banned on all the good trackers. That is all.
