- BAJINGO, on 10/10/2007, -0/+134It's not fat, it's big boned.
- daftfunk1, on 10/10/2007, -6/+83Let's just face it, it's ugly.
- obiethedog, on 10/10/2007, -1/+64iChode
- 4eyez, on 10/10/2007, -6/+55You're right, it is photoshopped. I made that in about 5 minutes cuz Apple legal made us pull the ones we did have. But that mock-up was overlaid with the original at 50% transparency, so that's pretty much exactly what it looks like. Next time I'll do better. :)
- NeoRicen, on 10/10/2007, -2/+35He's not saying it's the real pic dumbass.
- DaffyDuck, on 10/10/2007, -1/+33I can't think of any other reason to increase the screen size of the Nano other than to make it more suitable for video.
- ShugNinx21, on 10/10/2007, -7/+32I think you mean enhanced with Adobe Photoshop software...
- Isaaxmz, on 10/10/2007, -34/+58This is photoshopped. The clear part on the right side is cut off and there are jaggies all around the edge of the iPod. They pretty much a new iPod that is ten times better than this.
- Carv, on 10/10/2007, -1/+20Nice concept, but Apple would have to do more to the design than just stretch it out and make the screen bigger.
That's ugly. - 2Deluxe, on 10/10/2007, -6/+25LOLZ iSOMETHNG.
- daGUY, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15I'm sure an updated iPod is coming (and an announcement at the event in September makes sense), but I doubt that Cover Flow will be the ONLY way to navigate through anything. What happens if you don't have artwork for a particular song? It would be a nightmare trying to find something in a sea of identical "blank" covers (the music note icon that's shown when there's no cover art).
They could add in a search and virtual keyboard, but that's overkill. The iPhone still has the traditional menu browsing - why wouldn't the new iPod? - xjbri, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13"Fat Nano" sounds like a Mafia Boss.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15Fugly is what it is!!
- totetite, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12Apples had always been known to benefit from the free press of rumors. So this might work well for them. In case you're wondering, here is the pix. I believe that there is a high likelihood it of being a flop.
http://www.qualibuy.com/mysterypix.png - phookyall, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14OMFG!!! That thing looks like a knock off of a knock off ipod from china.
- Oceansea, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11If that is the new iPod, then fine.
If it's the new Nano, I'm rushing out to buy one of the current ones immediately as:
- It looks fugly
- I don't want to watch video on my iPod - I just want a small iPod with a screen to select audio, that's small i.e. the Nano.
Some people have suggested that it's part of a product matrix that's:
- iPod Video (full sized proper wide screen iPod with iPhone style interface)
- iPod w/ video (the model that's being discussed here - more storage, obviously a slimmer form factor)
- iPod Nano (maybe slimmer with new colours and bigger storage)
- iPod Shuffle (more storage I suppose)
If it's all the above - well that makes sense.
But if this is the Nano... well, words fail. - mistermusic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11they already have search on the ipod i believe
- TheCount, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Are you blind or just dumb? 20 hours before your post, 4eyez explained the image.
- cyssero, on 04/18/2009, -1/+9Err - the 8GB iPod nano is identical in size to the 2GB and 4GB iPod nano. Are you trying to say the 8GB is bigger for some reason? What are you actually trying to say?
**EDIT: Please, somebody, fix the comment system. - GeneralKickass, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Fugly. My dog would refuse to poop on it.
- WangoTango, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9yes, that is cg's photoshop. but the one with the 5 colored ipods was the real one.
- Spamcan, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I keep my iPod Nano in my wallet so unless that thing is super thin I doubt I'll be buying a replacement for a while. I'll be using my current Nano for a while anyway, it's a tough little *****.
- dandyhighwayman, on 10/10/2007, -9/+15All lies! Here is the new design:
http://axecollectorblog.blogspot.com/2007/08/apple-skinnipod-causing-quite-stir.html - thatsiebguy, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9That's probably the worst photochopped iPod image I have ever seen....
- dgblackout, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6i thought you could never be too thin or too powerful...?
apple's marketing is all over the place. - desmondregan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Don't believe this ***** you people they are just guessing and a cease and desist doesn't mean anything
- zorlok, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4you are an idiot. They said that's a mock-up because they got a c&d from apple for the real image. Way to waste 15 minutes downloading, playing in photoshop, and uploading to flickr on something no one thinks is supposed to be real.
- shaunj66, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Buried for the pointless use of TM in the title.
- DaffyDuck, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I don't think anyone thinks this is real.
- splammo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4No one wants the 8 gig nano? I was in stores earlier this year and everyone I talked to said the 8 gig nano was by far the most popular. I don't have any stats to back it up but 3 or 4 separate stores told me the same thing.
- 2Deluxe, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Cheers for that.
Apple products are usually pretty attractive, that thing is butt ugly. - 2Deluxe, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Any links to the original forbidden images?
I fail at google :( - DaffyDuck, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3There are more than 2 dimensions.
- 4eyez, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Hey dumbasses: Yes, it's fake. Fake, fake, fake. How do I know? Cuz I made it. We even say so in a previous artilce: http://crunchgear.com/2007/08/23/bloops-apple-legal-essentially-confirms-fat-nano-existence/
We never claimed it was a real image, so settle down with the photoshop stuff. I made this is about 5 minutes, so there. :) - thenome, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3That looks horrible.
- fuzzmeister, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Like the iPhone interface?
- macslut, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3If those were real (and I don't think they are), Apple might as well call them iZunes
- DaffyDuck, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Agree. I really doubt this is the real design.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I don't know if I'm down with an entirely CoverFlow based iPod. I mean, its cool and everything, but a pain in the ass to fill, and even worse for navigating a library, because it lists albums only. What seems more likely, and this is just my opinion, based on the fact that apple would never ONLY put coverflow on an iPod, I bet it INCLUDES coverflow, which is where this rumor started, because its actually an interface based on Front Row. It would make sense, same interface arcoss the board, Mac, AppleTV & iPod (I'm not aware if the iPhone has Front Row.)
- ndonohue, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2that would be nice, and would prevent me from selling my nano to get a sansa, but seeing as universal drag-and drop isn't in tune with Apple's vision of the future, I doubt they will be putting anything like that in their lineup anytime soon.
- DaffyDuck, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The problem is the reflection is the reverse of what it should be. Also, wood like that doesn't produce reflections with that much detail.
- nosajdac, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I'm pretty sure that makes no sense.
- championchap, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Here is an idea. Apple can have it. I don't care.
Use the iPhones tilt sensors in the iPod.
Lay the ipod out horizontally so that the clickwheel is on the right, and the screen can have more space.
The tilt sensors will see which way you are holding the ipod and change the display and controls accordingly for left/right handed people.
They must have already thought of doing this. But still.. I've wanted the nano to be like that since i got my first gen one. - Jambi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2If it's the new iPod Nano I suggest running out and buying up all the old ones you can get your hands on. You'll make a fortune on Ebay.
- wildmannz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Hi from nobody. The 8GB Nano was the only one that I wanted.
- Crispuk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Correct, They do on the iPod Video
- Lordpenguin007, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1buried 4 inaccurate
- johnpaul191, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1*IF* this is real...... maybe it is going to replace the current full sized iPod. there have been rumors that those will one day go to flash memory. then the iPod family will be: shuffle, nano, iPod (now flash based and more square), Video iPod (iPhone w/out Phone service).
i don't think flash memory is at the point of 80GBs being economical, and there are rumors that there is a flash memory shortage industry-wide. it is also interesting that Apple's iPod tops out at 80GB HDDs when those drives are now available up to 160GBs. if Apple keeps on the cutting edge of 1.8 inch drives, they would never let flash technology catch up to big storage. - adammharvey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1its not interesting its just plain dumb
- ghostdogg, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1iChunk
