- shauncullen, on 12/14/2007, -5/+22I just have to say, go to any big box store, pretend that money is no object, and 9 times out of ten, if they carry Apples as well as the standard Hps and Toshibas, the fastest laptop available is an apple mac book pro, hands down. Kinda sad really. Where are the 15 inch laptops from other manufacturers with a 1440 x 900 screen? With a 2.4 ghz processor and 2 GB of memory standard? Even Dell's improvement in the 1330 and 1530 can't touch apple becuase of the low screen res. It just pisses me off that everyone yells about the price difference, but feature for feature, design for design, apples can't be touched, at least in their pro lines. Go to best buy and ask for the fastest laptop they have. It won't be their pc's, guaranteed.

- tibbon, on 12/14/2007, -0/+6Umm. I know several Apple employees (at the main campus, not Apple Store drones). They have told me that things like this don't just float around. Sometimes they all know about things early (like a random software patch) but in general everything is on a need-to-know only basis. 99% of them found out about the details of the iPhone about an hour before the rest of the world did. They all knew "something" was up, but not the details. The idea of this laptop just floating around the campus seems possible, but it seems they'd be a bit more careful.

For mobility and power, nothing compares to sony SZ series, but apples 15'' mac book pro comes close. Overall though, apples compare pretty damn well to sony as far as price goes, and you can even see sony taking design cues from apple across their laptop line. But yeah, I meant in a store like best buy, the apple laptops are the best there. My next laptop with probably be the sony sz, unless apple comes out with a 13'' mac book pro, like the rumors kinda hinting at. Anyway, I agree with you mostly, and at least you've used an apple before commenting on them.
