paralyzed from the waist down. - fluidfoundation, on 08/07/2008, -5/+162This is what happens when you install the IAmRich app.
- ry4nsm1th, on 08/08/2008, -3/+114"White Apple Logo Screen of Death" is the best they could come up with? Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.
- g00dbye, on 08/08/2008, -3/+54Wait...you signed up for MobileMe BECAUSE of the negative comments?
Wow. Ballsy. - kelchm, on 08/08/2008, -7/+54I lol'd.
- chubbybubba, on 08/08/2008, -6/+43solution: You need to purchase the "I am rich" icon/app. That way your iphone knows it's better than anyone elses.
- jonatne, on 08/07/2008, -48/+82I've had my iPhone 3G from day 1.
I've not had any major software problems associated with the OS. I have had problems with apps crashing the system, but that can be attributed to hasty development on the app devs side.
After waiting in line for 6 hours (crazy, I know), it took me about 15 minutes from start to finish to purchase, switch over my TMobile number and walk out of the store talking, downloading apps, and surfing the net on my new phone.
Because of all of the negative comments about MobileMe, I signed up for an account. I've not had any problem whatsoever.
I've been following all of the negative buzz about the iPhone 3G and I just haven't seen any of it happen to me. Am I lucky or are there just a few unlucky people out there? How can millions of pieces of hardware/software be processing with 100% uptime? - inactive, on 08/08/2008, -10/+38Wow even my Windows Smartphone doesn't do that.
- kinseyincanada, on 08/08/2008, -11/+38im I the only one who has had no problems what so ever with their iPhone? hell i didnt even go into a store to activate it.
- jls33fsls, on 08/08/2008, -5/+29I have had the same experience as you (except for that whole 6 hours waiting in line thing). No problems here except app crashing, which seems to be mostly gone since 2.0.1. I am not saying it is perfect or anything like that, but I just haven't had much of any problems.
- noerrorsfound, on 08/08/2008, -0/+22The man above me laughing out louded.
- ry4nsm1th, on 08/08/2008, -2/+22"iPhone Screen of Death"
I say good day sir. - ryan83189, on 08/08/2008, -4/+24It's a feature.
- VidaGeek, on 08/08/2008, -7/+26I have had the new phone since day 1 as well - I had to turn off the 3G because every time my phone syncs my 500+ contacts and 3 email accounts, it would drop whatever call I was on.
But I am not having any "apple core of death" issues.
Yes, things need to get fixed, so +1 on the digg from me. - thatsmyaibo, on 08/08/2008, -4/+23This isn't half as bad as the problem with iPhones randomly cracking on the plastic backing. There is no patch for that.
- bbqsalad, on 08/08/2008, -10/+29WAHHH WAHHHHH
- swordedge, on 08/08/2008, -2/+19So if you see someone just standing there not moving an inch, remove their iphone from their hands and they will be able to move again!!!
Oh, you mean it's not that kind of Paralyze? - inactive, on 08/08/2008, -7/+23Apart from accepting multi-touch input, it does everything the iPhone 3g does, except ***** its pants and need recovery every so often. No need to jailbreak it or access that crudfest App Store for applications either, the net is full of WinMo apps.
- Kardde, on 08/08/2008, -0/+16Steve, I'm sorry for the self-important e-mail. I'm a blogger on the intranets, and therefore feel superior to anyone and everyone who doesn't have a blog.
Steve, can I call you Steve? After all, I'm a blogger with a blog dedicated to Apple. So we must be on a first name basis, Steve.
It's bad, Steve. This problem people are having. Out of the millions of iPhones sold so far, there's a massive 200-post thread in the forums where people claim they have encountered this bug. That must account for at least 1% of all iPhone sold, right, Steve?
Steve, did I mention my blog is read in 55 countries, Steve?
Steve, I'm going to e-mail this to you, but I'm also going to post this e-mail on my blog, which again is read in 55 countries, and I'll also post it to digg, so everyone will know how important I am to you, Steve, since I can e-mail you at your personal e-mail address, and I also call you Steve. After all, you wrote back to John Mayer, right?
Steve, when I receive your response, I will post it on my blog (55 countries!), and also submit your reply to digg, so everyone will know I have a personal relationship.
I await your response, Steve, and will be ready with my knee pads firmly strapped on.
Sincerely (Love),
Michael Hunt

[but seriously, I love my iPhone] - gllopc, on 08/08/2008, -10/+25The iPhone is not perfect. No product is perfect. The iPhone is under a microscope right now, in part due to Apple's usual air of superiority; and we all love to rub it in when someone who thinks they can do no wrong, fails to any degree.
200 posts in a thread does not equal 200 people with the problem. Even so, 200 people with the problem, out of 1,000,000 phones sold, is 0.0002% of those who purchased the phone experiencing the problem. Considering many of those posts are replies and not new complaints, the percentage is even less.
Apple has a history of making quality products. They also have a history of fixing their problems, and often quite quickly.
If this is a real problem, then Apple should fess up to it and get it right. But an individuals blog post using speculative numbers, and the post making the front page of Digg, does not mean there is cause for alarm. - thegrantman, on 08/08/2008, -0/+14But why not?
- dbhalla, on 08/08/2008, -1/+15WALSD is pretty pronouncable?
- GamingTrend, on 08/08/2008, -7/+21Factory restore takes roughly 7-10 minutes. Cry more emo kid.
- bjornski, on 08/08/2008, -4/+18Not until you get your English grades up.
- MikeSD34, on 08/08/2008, -5/+17It's called a vocal minority. The issue appears more widespread because those who have it make themselves known. It's not necessarily a bad thing, if I had a problem I would want to be heard as well, but it does tend to throw things out of proportion a bit. When you add in the individuals who are looking at blowing up every little imperfection in an effort to tear the iPhone a new one for one reason or another, a major (but infrequent) problem becomes a huge news story making waves around the internet.
- hufman, on 08/08/2008, -2/+14I had imagined users, frozen in place, by using an iPhone. A humorous image, I think.
- justintime32, on 08/08/2008, -2/+13Hmm, the 2.0 software has been far from perfect (I've had a lot of random crashes, including a lot with Safari) but I've had nothing of this magnitude. I certainly hope Apple can figure out what is going on with the affected iPhones and fix it.
- inactive, on 08/08/2008, -0/+11it's white. It already knows!
ooooouch. too soon? - LemonChicken, on 08/08/2008, -4/+14This thing reads like a prayer to the messiah.
- inactive, on 08/08/2008, -0/+10In Soviet Russia.... etc.
- Qumahlin, on 08/08/2008, -15/+24I know roughly 50+ iphone owners and not a single one including myself has had this issue to the extent they describe. I know of two people who had an issue and needed to do a hard reboot of the phone which is similar to putting it in recovery mode; however not a single one of them actually needed to restore their phone.
Also if you look up the apple thread he is referencing, yes it has over 200 posts...not all 200 of them are people with the issue, most are people trying to help those with the issue... - Kratos76, on 08/08/2008, -0/+9Shoot.
- tech42er, on 08/08/2008, -1/+10Proper grammar in digg headlines ftw!
- inactive, on 08/08/2008, -2/+11Stateside, you are a halfwit incapable of forming an intelligent argument.
Also "you're" is the spelling you wanted there. Just thought I'd throw that in. - phantom_mullet, on 08/08/2008, -5/+14Why the hell would you sign up for MobileMe "because of all of the negative comments?"
- gllopc, on 08/08/2008, -7/+15@Jonate - My experience follows yours exactly.
- inactive, on 08/08/2008, -7/+15Imagine if this happened to Microsoft the apple boys would be all over it.
- inactive, on 08/08/2008, -1/+9Source for your claim?
- inferno10, on 08/08/2008, -0/+8The firmware restore may take 7-10 minutes, but reinstalling apps alone can easily take 2-10 minutes PER APP. I should know, since I just restored my iPhone 3G for the 8th time since buying it...
- inactive, on 08/08/2008, -0/+8Hahahah thank you "Giga"...I saw that on some article about a bus. "***** you, two of my friends died on a bus!"
I can see it getting old though.
I'm new to all the social mores of digg, i had to even look up what "ftw" stood for...I thought it meant "***** the world!" -2pac - rodrigo74, on 08/08/2008, -2/+9"Because of all of the negative comments about MobileMe, I signed up for an account"
Martyrdom - because fanboyism is not enough. - Fiola, on 08/08/2008, -6/+13buried, factory restore does not take "several hours" i've restored countless times and it's never taken longer than 30min.
iTune backs up your data everytime you sync automatically, so as long as you synced recently, restoring doesn't really mean you'll lose any data.
I'm not saying that there is no problems at all with the iphone software, but it sounds to me like the guy's trying to make it sound a lot worse than it actually is for some reason. - inactive, on 08/08/2008, -1/+8the iScreen of Death... it sounds kind of like Ice Cream.
- masterkenobi, on 08/08/2008, -3/+10I just got a new Windows Mobile 6 phone, and I absolutely LOVE it. It does so much more than the iPhone, and I'm on Verizon's EVDO network so I'm getting 2.4 mBit/s instead of you iPhoner's 200 kbits. I can create and edit office docs, voice dialing, also many voice commands to navigate other parts of the OS (like my media player), have MMS messaging, replaceable batteries, have flash for my camera, video recording, replaceable microSD cards, and I really like my hardware keyboard (tried the touchscreen one, it wasn't doing it for me).
I am currently using Opera Mini, which is fast and great, though I am hearing good things about the Skyfire browser, which the Beta 1 release was tested a lot faster than Safari. AND, it will have flash support!
Sure, my phone isn't perfect (i don't think any phone is), but it does a heck of a lot more for me than an iPhone ever would.
Now go ahead and bury me without any response or reason, fanboys. - billwild, on 08/08/2008, -5/+11Learn to use "Reply"
- max1018, on 08/08/2008, -1/+7Believe me, as an owner of a couple of Mac's and an iPhone, OS X is nowhere near as buggy as the iPhone, or at least 2.0. It is a shame that some of those people who gave Apple a shot by buying an iPhone 3G for the first time have had to suffer a very bad experience. Granted, I haven't had any problems myself, except for crashing apps in 2.0, which seem to have been fixed in 2.0.1.
I still wish Apple would slow down for a minute and get their heads back together to get things sorted. - dext3r, on 08/08/2008, -0/+5good to know....?
- gu0d, on 08/08/2008, -0/+5I don't think anyone can see this.
- fbdklw, on 08/08/2008, -7/+12Yes, you are one of the lucky ones. Last year I purchased the 1st Gen one day after it went on sale. No issues at all. Seamless Although many people had activation/ Itunes related problems with the Iphone. This year,, total debacle, Mobile Mess, 3GeeWiz, 2.O *****! and on and on. The apps still crash the phone, even after the 2.01 update almost a month later, Apps, and all are not near as responsive as they used to be, hang ups, the screen arbitrarily blanking out during calls, so the keyppad cannot be accessed,, restores are useless. The problems are growing. In fact I cannot remember the amount of problems, little and large. There are a growing number with every new day it seems. I am embarrassed to say that Apple made this.
This year, I am one of the MANY unlucky ones. -
