- Cutter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4@ brainz - - Dude, go back to bed for a few hours and try that again. Maybe eat some ghinko biloba or something. Trying to understand if you had a point or not became tedious enough that I had to reply. -1 digg
- crammaz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Seriously mate, I have one and I love it soo much. These stories are just beat ups.... Apple has a loyal and vocal user base which is good for their sales and marketing but can also cause problems by the way they hype stories. Take the plunge and buy one you wont be disappointed.
- cyberplant, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'm a human, really. I've never had an apple product before. I love my macbook, it's great, BUT it has the shutdown problem. I happens after waking up when you had it closed for hours. I don't know what it is, but it happens EVERYTIME. It's not "random".
The workaround I've found is: shut down the macbook instead of closing it to sleep. When it wakes up press option key so the OS select menu appears, wait for one or two minutes, it shuts down. After it, I keep pressed the power button until I hear a long beep, and after that the machine works OK.
I do this cause I had problems with MacOS like settings lost, and some other problems caused by the sudden shutdown. So if it shuts down in the boot menu, I don't lose any data.
But really, it's very annoying.

It's related to the forum where the affected people (like me) posted our experiences. - drsteve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm a mac fanatic... will never go back (to hell) but people... you applephiles are out of line here. Case in point... I was one of the first to get the macbook... figured, "it will never happen to me" now, as I type this today... my mac will only come on for 5 minutes then play dead. I get macs so I don't have to deal with these problems. the the phone tech guys are like "we have never heard of such a thing", so I asked them...have you heard of digg.com? Go look. Well, I'm sure we will figure it out, but all of my work time is spent on my mac, so what a royal pain.
- t.toe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've had my MacBook for three weeks now, I've used the heck out of it (editing video in FCP), and I haven't had this problem yet. I'll let you guys know if it happens.

hmmmm...minus 8 diggs, you can see how your unintelligible drivel is appreciated. - Bonobo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2To think many macs have TROUBLE shutting down...
- DouglasScott, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I’ve set up about 20 MacBooks so far, and we did have one that shut off on it’s own. It was a very distinct failure, couldn’t mistake it for a dead battery or anything like that. Our shop tried replacing the logic board but the problem persisted. I got on the phone to Apple customer relations they got the replacement machine out in about four days.
I’m not too concerned because:
1) It shows up early, so it’s probably doing right from the factory.
2) It’s rare. - brainz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0cutter actually you will never will understand i only comment because I'm sort of a insider for another major laptop company that's all..... So you understanding me or not doesn't make any difference at all.....
- brainz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0cutter.... How about you just go DIGG yourself a hole somewhere.... Never seen such a social conformist in my life.... let me explain that means in cutters language "I don't care about diggs" Hows that.....
I don't express my opinions on here to get diggs you "put something here whatever you like something insulting"

- brainz, on 10/12/2007, -8/+0Very wired actually first the switch to Intel CPU then this http://www.baktim.com/?q=en/node/105 Widgets. Then the case of the white case going yellow.... Never had a mac before i user its brother or sister called Linux hence UNIX is its daddy.... but i think mac makes it all to easy for my liking being a tinker by nature.... Like a horse with blinkers on... But this shutdown issue is not something new usually caused by one of 3 things....
1. CPU senses temp to be to high and wham we gone for a while or
2. Blue screen of death and shutdown wait this is not windows hehehe and
3. Mac is not getting cheap and taking out the antistatic protection within the unit are they....
